The Lincoln has 250k and the F-150 is currently just over 150k with just plugs, and oil changes on both. Brakes have been done once on the Lincoln. I love turbos and I'm not afraid of them Mr. Kilmer.

Not entirely. They keep trying to improve horsepower numbers every year while still meeting the standards.
Every time they have an option for a simple non-turbo engine, that’s what most educated people that care about longevity buy.
The new 7.3L Godzilla engine gets better mileage than my old 5.4L triton. Why can’t they make a 5.4L with the same architecture as the 7.3L to get even better mileage?

Mustang is a wild horse that should snort and go.

The interesting thing about the silicon board and electronics is if they simply used a good amount of conformal coating the water would have no effect.

@throttlebottle5906 Wires are already insulated and waterproof. You do not use bare wire. Even an electric motor has to be enameled. And copper doesn't rust.

Almost every car manufacturer has had multiple recalls this year and last...I don't trust any of them, let alone any of them are putting "new" tech into their vehicles. On top of that, many of these designs are a decade or more behind what they actually COULD make - they've got new designs that they COULD make, but because it would cost more to update their manufacturing lines, they dole out improvements piecemeal. This is the same across every industry out there.

Once upon a time, a long time ago, I had a Series 2 Land Rover. It had no turbos, it had no computers, it just ran and ran no matter what. As it happened, it had water inside the cab, up to the dashboard, on more than one occasion, and in a Land Rover, that's high up. It didn't stop, it carried on, but I did stop as soon as possible. When I pulled the dip stick, white fluid came up out the dipstick tube. Not a huge problem, drained the oil (white fluid) out of the engine, changed the oil filter, and refilled with good clean oil. It carried on running. Have we really improved cars that much in the last 40 or 50 years? It was never a fast car, but it never had an engine warning light, so that never came on, and it didn't have a limp home mode, so that never happened. Oh, btw, I paid $1200 for it, used. Wish I could get another one now.

There was two recalls on the transmission which we had serviced and then shortly after the motor went out at 84,000 miles. Now Ford won’t even take it for a trade in, too much negative equity. We’re pretty much screwed paying this off with $8000 left. They said we could replace it with the same engine! Like wow really? That would be $4,800 with labor and used engine. So what to do, what to do. Any advice would be appreciated
