I made a 1969 Superbee A12 4-speed clone car years ago. It was a real 1969 4-speed Superbee, but was originally a 383 car. The 1969 A12 cars were only available with drum brakes because, they were meant for drag racing and disc brakes weren't desirable for drag racing, because they made more drag on the front wheels, which could be adjusted out with drum brakes and because the disc brake Coronets got small 6 cylinder rear drum brakes, instead of the large heavy duty rear drum brakes, that drum brake Superbees got. In drag racing, with big slick tires on the rear and skinny drag racing tires on the front, they wanted to be sure that the big rear tires had the big drum brakes, especially with skinny tires on the front.
