You need to chat with Matt about the importance of fuelling up before a recovery lol 🇨🇦🏴☠️
And Rudy, apparently.
@@rumhave9632 it’s a family thing…😂😂
Yes Rudy seem’s to be carrying on the tradition😂🇨🇦🏴☠️
Like father like son 😁
Not just fueling up, but topping off. I know Matt's excuse: Fuel is over 7 pounds per gallon... gotta keep her light.
Screw that, fill the dang tank up.
I can't even articulate just how much I appreciate you folks and the content you put out. This is reality entertainment done right. Love the show and all folks in it. 🇺🇸
Reality without all the drama, exactly. Just good old blue collar folks helping people.
You guys are great I appreciate the fact that you were there to help us put our driveline back in I can't believe you just do that for fun but it's fun watching you and I've been telling people about you and they love your website so thanks again for being on time on spot and it actually did kick out of gear as we were after we drove it for a while and then we we made actually made a trail run after that right by the the scale station up to the towers and had a lot of fun and it seemed before wheel drive seems to be working fine so again thanks a lot and you guys be safe and we're back home in Portland
@@messianichebrewshawnkawcak1550 Indeed.
Same here👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Thank you for the well put comment. I'll let them know that you appreciate the hard work behind the scenes. Cheers from Canada.
You’re a good man Paul. Whenever you see a person in distress, you are always there to help them out. Wish there were more people like you. Here in the small town of Missouri, most of the time, there is someone stopping to try to help or get you the help you need.
Junk at 30k save your money.
Paul thank you for humbly
living up to blessings you've earned by helping others that don't possess your skills and ingenuity.
I always try to do the same as well.
I wish only safety, protection and happy trails for you and your whole tribe.
yeah Missouri has some great one's still, I'm usually the one stopping to help people but this morning Was my turn needing a hand and thankfully had a few stop and help at different points! God bless 'em all!
I don't think he does it for free. I think this is the main source of his income but I couldn't be sure.
Yes , thats true! I live just south of Rolla and I or someone tries to help out either in mud sand or snow!
I was scratching my head trying to figure out how you would fix the aluminum tie rod in the field. Boxing it with angle and welding the angle to the nuts! Amazing! MacGyver's got nothing on you, Paul! Nice work!
I was thinking along the lines of having in the tool bag a set of steel metal pipes that had two holes drilled in, one on either side, with a nuts welded over the holes and a bolts to thread into them to act as set screws. The 2 halves of the tie rod can then be joined like a splint.
I'm only @9:54 viewing the video so I'm looking forward to what Paul comes up with.
I was thinking the same then wondered if he just had some extra angle riding in the truck or if he sacrificed a fence post??
@@kentuckyproud4575 Sounds like the barbed wire repairs we hear about in the desert.
Probably never break
MacGyver skills my ass. I've done this. with a Jack handle and used car batteries as a power source with jumper cables as welding leads to fix a tie rod on a UTV that broke on the Rubicon. Now using car batteries to weld, that takes skill.
Never, EVER, underestimate the usefulness of a pair of vice grips. haha, I have a pair in every vehicle, every tool box... Duct tape, a pipe wrench, vice grips, and channel locks. You can fix damn near anything 🤣🤣
... and a defibrillator. You alright Ben? I think I peed my pants a little when that puppers alerted on ya 🤣🤣🤣
Don't forget the tie wire.
Don"t forget a roll of tie-wire!
@@baddawg3380 You beat me by 20 seconds!😆😆😆
That trail repair was Paul doing what he does best! Don't have the right stuff? Use what you have to make it work, even if only temporary. Great job guys! Also, Kudos on the second trail fix too!
We don't have what we need, we have what we brought, and what they brought is a few smart and creative minds
Adapt and overcome,improvise.
One thing I learned: never buy a side by side. Those things are way too flimsy
They're so much fun for the right situations. But yeah expect to go through the stock parts lol
People abuse them too. Well me and most everyone. Not really designed for what people do to them.
All about application
Pretty much when you buy a side x side, immediately replace stock radius rods, tie rods, radius rod plate, and on certain side X sides, the control arms as well
Got to understand how to use them properly. They are not trucks but they are not jeeps too!! Treated for what they are they can get you anywhere a truck or jeep can go and lots of places they can't go.
The Lord loves a cheerful giver. That driveline fix was just so cool! "What do we owe you"? "Nothing".
“How’s it feel to be a life saver?” “Round like a donut!” I laughed the hardest i have in a long time at that joke
Team thanks for stopping & helping a veteran Marine. For that I give you all a “Semper Fi” team.
Ah where Paul shines. The trail repair.
With Pringles in hand
Ben and Paul I've got a brother we grew up working together in construction for dad. As adults we have worked together in construction so I appreciate the Joy and the pain of working with your brother keep at it and enjoy each other I know it isn't always easy but there's something about a brother that makes you wanna kill him but simultaneously not let anyone else hurt him. good luck love what you guys mat and Robbie are doing making family friendly content the internet and the world need more people like you
Gassing up before you head out on an unknown rescue - how novel! Yep, you did MacGyver your way outa that one! Clever fix, and good job helping that other couple with the broken drive line. You guys rock!
*Paul fabs a tie-rod from scratch with mats and on board welder* “we’ll be better prepared next time.” So funny!! Love these field fix videos!
I enjoy seeing the brothers work together.
We didn't show up with what we needed. We showed up with what we got. Classic!
Way to go Paul!! You got a good crew!! I could feel the tie rod snapping as soon as you started to try to bend it back. LOL!! Aluminum is not friendly to bending. Nice save though, boxing it with angle and welding the nuts on. Those old folks would have been in a real pickle of you hadn't happened along. Nice that you stopped and got them back on the road.
Take your time on the tow truck trail repairs much more fun and God bless you for being an all round nice guy and helping those people out
Paul, have you considered a wrecker boom that would fit into the receiver hitch and works with the wench. Works pretty well on small jobs like 4 wheelers.
I would put that tie-rod in a frame and hang it on my garage wall!! That is a Paul Cox original piece of Artwork!! Great job!!!
Paul - you need to fab a Swiss army trailer like Rory’s that you can use with dirt bikes , sxs’s and Jeeps/ohvs for rigs you can’t do a trail fix on .. keep the videos coming and I’ll keep watching
That was a nice thing you did for that couple. You guys rock. I hope they realize how lucky they were that three great guys just happen by.
I agree with Randall, Paul's trail repair looks better than new. Beautiful scenery on that trail. Your second customer really got lucky to have Paul come across him.
In a similar situation many years ago, we duct tapped a wrench over a broken tie rod and it got us to the repair shop. Duct tape can fix many a problem. Never leave home without it! As Red Green used to say. "If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy"!
Paul - that answer to Randall's question was perfectly delivered. Almost dropped my drink. Great content, all of you. The whole team is awesome.
That’s a Matt’s off-road hammer 😂✌🏻🔨
Well done boys , I’m enjoying Bens addition to your team . Excellent Fab Rats .
Between this video and MORR, I have determined all side by sides are made of glass and paper mache.
ive strightened a few of those tie rods on the trail. I use a tree saver strap around wheel on the tie rod side and winch it till its straight. just have to be able to anchor other side of machine so it doesnt move. thanks for filming.
What can happen with the samurai transfer case keeping it from shifting. Mine use to get stuck in neutral, but it can happen in any position. The end of the shifter wears down and allows it to move from 1 shift fork to the other one with out moving the fork. Then with the detent balls between the shift works it locks the shifter in place not allowing you to shift. Easy trail fix once you know this. Just pull the boot and shifter out, and reset it to correct position and bolt back together.
Class act helping out the elderly as I find myself in that way. Love the the beautiful scenery you are living in. Admire your mechanical skills as I'm a retired one. Enjoy your family life too keep the adventures coming.

I’m always amazed by Fab Rats crew. Genuinely good people. Thank you for sharing this video.
“Pringles & Dewski” breakfast of champions 💪 thank you for sharing 🇺🇸
Those hi lift jacks are great. I bought two over the years and both were from the scrap yard. The first one had some parts missing, but I gave it to a buddy who had one and he's a fabricator and machinist, so he'll have a way to fix it.
Hey Paul // Ben & Randall !! Great recoveries on both ends !! That couple won't forget what you had done for them !!! Have a good week & ""ED'S GOLDIE"" should be coming every shortly !! 🙃😉😊🤠😎👍👍👍
Thank you for your videos. Look forward to them every week
Same 🤩🤩🤩
Super common for Samurai T-cases to get stuck in low and high at the same time because of the shifter bushing. I really thought that was gonna be the problem this time...
Yep, very simple fix
Paul, don't know what makes Utah such a place that makes great people like you, your team, your family and your friends.
You are blessed.
There is nothing that can beat old school ingenuity. Paul you are the man!
I'm not sure what it's called out West, but you guys definitely qualify as "Good Old Boys"!
Up north it's a scumbag offset.
Great job getting both of those vehicles out of there. But I gotta say, the banter between the three of you is priceless.
I will stick to my Polaris Sportsman Quad. In all of the wheeling that I have done with them, (a lot) The only thing that I broke was a lower control arm bolt. It would bind up on the wheel going forward, but it would go backward. I ended up backing it up for 17 miles. The next Sportsman that I bought had a larger diameter bolt in the lower control arm. Evidently mine was not the only one that broke! LOL I have worn things out for sure, but I go in some very nasty places, and it is to be expected. I have done the Rubicon Trail several times. The hardest trail that I have ever done was the Foredice trail, ( close to the Rubicon) That trail destroyed the bottom of my quad. I had to completely rebuild it after I got home, BUT, it DID get me back to the trailer. It took me and my Son 8 hours to go 7 miles. He had a long-arm kit, 33 inch tires, and an air locker in both ends, in his Jeep, and he had to winch 6 times. I had to winch so many times that I did not even roll up my winch rope, I just wrapped it around the chain saw rack. I have worn out tie rod ends, but never actually bent the tie rods themselves. After watching the carnage done to these side by sides on Paul's and Matt's channel, I will safely say that I will NEVER EVER own one of those expensive, flimsy machines.
@RollinRat I like your handle too. I went on the Fordice during that week that they lower the water level of the creek, (river) crossing. After I completed the Fordyce I said that I would never do it again, but after I rebuilt my belly-pans, I just might, if for no other reason, just to see if my skid-plate held up. LOL I covered the main part under the engine with 1/4" plate with a piece of 3/8 plastic over that. I also did the same to my floorboards. That trail DOES require a lot of winching. There is just no way that you can climb up a 5' vertical rock with a quad. LOL
My name comes from a 1923 Ford Model T that I made from scratch. I designed it to go off road, and even though it has an open differential, it does extremely well climbing up steep 2 tracks. My buddy named it the "Rat". That stands for "Radically Altered T". Since every weld, and every bracket was made by me, I am the Rat Builder. LOL Thanks for the comment.
@RollinRat My Bucket is not a rat rod. It is also not a show car, I don't have the patience for that, besides, in the summer it is my daily driver. It is painted nicely though, and it has a Chevy 396 big block in it that I built. It is all stock though. I like to just go putting around, and I have a very high geared rear end, (3:21), and a low stall converter, so it is not much of a drag racer.
Last year I bought an Eco-Trix E bike. It is a 26"fat tired bike, and I love it. I am 75 years old, so I DO need a little assistance from time to time. I have had guys on mountain bikes pass me while they were going downhill on the Quad trails around here while I was riding my quad. They don't pass me going uphill though. LOL I got my Girl friend a 20" fat tired folding bike from Eco-Trix, but she hated the way that the power came on, so I ordered all of the controllers just like my 26" came with, and with a lot of internet help installed them in her 20" bike. She loves it now. Neither one of my E Bikes has any suspension, so we pretty much stick to the paved bike paths around here in South Eastern Idaho. That is ok too, at least as far as we are concerned.
I also have a 2022 TW200 street legal dirt bike, and a 1994 XT600 street legal dirt bike. I have ridden dirt bikes since 1965. I had a 1986 XT600, and it was a dirt bike that you could ride on the road. This 94 XT600 is a road bike that you can ride in the dirt. There IS a difference.
Where do you live? I live out in the country close to Pocatello Idaho.
All about treating people the way you wish to be treated. The world would be a better place if more people would do the same. Good job
Paul you’re so good you are a legend in my own mind.
Bless you and your family's! Thank you! And you all are in my prayers every night!
Just for being you! 🙏❤🙏
you guys make such wholesome content ty for doing this makes my day every day
@79-1/2 now, I love these videos and scenery where I used to work the Oil Patch back 40 years ago now.... love that country.
No kidding I get to watch FabRats
With my daughter and not worry bout language or dirty stuff thanks Justin Hamilton& of course thank you Paul and fabrats family and crew
this was a fun video Paul, and Tnx for helping out that couple so they could be on their way. He may be close to my age, but we have not forgotten how to use our tools. Never leave home w/o my tools...
Great work fellas, it's nice to see people still have the decency to stop and lend a hand and don't ask for a dime in return. That gets harder and harder to find to these days, great work..... 👍
A retired couple from oregon going about the country in an old Samurai. That's cool.
Nice work Paul! Having bent more than one clutch/brake lever on motorcycles, I have known that fateful "clink" of snapping aluminum. Thankfully, I studied up and learned how to straighten aluminum without snapping. It behaves opposite of steel, so in order to anneal it and start bending back, you need to heat it up real good, about 600+ deg. F, and QUENCH it in water as fast as you can. Don't go nuts with a torch, as it's MELTING temperature is around 1,200 deg. F. You will know it worked 'cause she'll get real easy to bend at first. If it gets firmer and starts springing back a lot before it's straight, rinse and repeat. I've bent 'em back a looong way with several rounds of heat/quench. Snapped 'em every time trying to do it without.
There still are some good people in this world, you put a smile on my face today, GOD bless!
Sweet trail fix Paul. Especially for not having the "right stuff" with you! 1/2 the battle is making a plan B...
Love your attitude of helping people out of jams. Good Karma. We need more of this in society today.
Matt will be so proud of you using a claw hammer. Great job on the trail fix and I think you made those guys day being in the right place at the right time. Keep up the good work and stay safe out there. 😎🇬🇧
That tie rod fix was inspiring and the help that you gave that couple really could have saved their lives Dave Sparks (diesel Brothers) just recovered a tragic situation where the husband died cuz they got broke down and lost in the desert.
Always amazed of the ingenuity you guys come up with.
Creative fix ! Improvisation can be the key to survival.
Paul you’re a good man!! That was a good video thanks for making that!!
Most people in Arizona just drive off and don't ask if people need help. You guys are good people
Man I love your content, great people creating cool stuff. I can't wait until you get to 1 mill subscribers!!. Just thought I would send this out before you guys get to big and don't get time to see how we all think. Good luck and keep up the great work!
Round like a donut 🍩... That's humility! 😇
Love the Fab Rats!
Paul helping those people as you did for nothing was awesome of you to do. Not many would have done that for a random stranger. That is 1of the many reasons I keep watching your channel. Keep humble all of ya!
Always fun to watch the talent that is on this channel!
Great trail fix ! #1 reason for carrying scrap angle iron with a OBW also i buy old cheap wrenches they also come in handy box end with washer and bolt ya got a hime joint weld a nut to open end and bam tie rod lol
Gas $4.70 a gallon. Thanks, Brandon!
True First Responders. Thanks for helping out those folks with driveline problems that had stranded them on that dirt road. There is still a lot of good in the USA...you and your team are part of the Good.
Awesome recovery guys!! If you have a good imagination with things that you might have on hand a person can definitely come up with something that will work!! You should get a couple ramps like what trail Mater uses!!! Like the time trail Mater used his aluminum ramp with holes in it and put under the front end of the driver side hub on a pickup that was blocking a trail!! He tide the front of the ramp up to the front of the pickup and the front of the ramp so that the ramp wouldn’t stay when the truck drove off!!! It actually worked pretty darn good I thought!!! He did have to add a shovel in between the ramp and the bottom of the hub so that when driving the ground wouldn’t wear the bottom ball joint out!!! Plus the ramps also work for many other options that might come about while out on the trails!!! You guys made it all work with what you had and that’s what matters!! Awesome video guys and remember keep up all the hard work buddy’s!!!!
Good job Paul, Ben and Randall you got that ATV recovered for the man. Now go fix the tow truck! 😃 Good job helping the other couple too you guys are all right!
0:55 - Paul tops up his tank(s), explains the importance of always having enough fuel, does NOT take the (obvious )opportunity to make fun of Matt’s infamous gas-o-phobia! Paul is growing up! Sad.
I was thinking the exact same :D
Ya I would have been all over it 😆😂🤣🇨🇦🏴☠️
I think you might be looking at it wrong. I see Paul showing his gassing up IS a poke at Matt's "problem". 🛢
I got a feeling the next recovery vehicle that Matt gets is gonna need to be one of those E Hummers
with the solar paneled roof option.
I know I said it before but I really mean it. Paul is the kinda guy that you want to have as a friend. And the rest of the Fab_Rat family as well. I would like to send you one very sincere Well done Well done.
I reckon Paul needs to ensure he gets to heaven, he's got some reward waiting there for him if he does. 😉👍
Paul will need to take some scrap iron and some of that Golden Nugget paint with him when he goes to Heaven...so he can real quick fix the "Pearly Gates" and give 'em a quick makeover. ;)
"When",not 'if'.Let's hope it's Many decades down the trails.
Excellent work and entertainment! Incentive to get the tow truck on the road!
"You never really know what you're going to be into, and we don't want to be out of gas..."
Tell me you're not on Matt's channel without telling me you're not on Matt's channel.
I like your brother being involved in your adventures!! Great content!!
That was an amazing field repair/recovery. BUT . . . Don't EVER, EVER work under a load suspended only by a Hi-Lift Jack. EVER!!! I have used those jacks for years. They are essential for off-road work but they can be killers. Please don't do that again! Put something else under the vehicle as supplemental support. A tire, a rock, a log. Something in addition to the Hi-Lift. I want you guys around for tomorrow and the next day and the next.
I've had my hi-lift slip off a vehicle's two times. You can run a strap around it to hold it towards the vehicle but you still got to watch for the bottom to kick out. Great tool can be super dangerous
That was a Divine Appointment🌟 Paul and Ben Your my Heros🦸🏼♂️🦸♂️ Thanks for recording Randall📹 GOD BLESS YOU ALL ABUNDANTLY!🙏🏻😇🙏🏻
well dun Paul....Matt and Michelle are out fighting sand flies and you guys are out fighting drive-trains....lol...amazing
Paul, you are BEYOND amazing with your fabrication skills! Whatever you charge you need to bump it up because you got the MAGIC!
Love you three guys together. Great video today. 👍👍👍👍🌟🌟🌟🌟🏆🏆🏆
Great People, never to busy that you can't stop and help someone that needs help. Your Mother and Dad taught you right and your living the right way. God Bless. Hope to get out that way one day and just stop to say Hello !
Ain't never been that far west, but if I am, and I break down, I know who I'm calling. Yall good folks.
Genius lateral thinking repair!! and the 2nd one was just good people helping out as necessary!
10:05 Did I hear crickets?
It is funny to see that Paul proceeds as if there is nothing to worry about. I was skeptical after Paul’s attaching method. Glad to see he brought his eyecrometer. He never fails. Thx for sharing
That's pretty sweet to get to spend time with your brother, going around doing good deeds. That's good livin'!
its rare to see someone offer comp and even rarer for someone to say you dont owe me anything great job paul
Need another Premier Power welder for the tow truck too. 😎👍
You need to check out the Miller Multimatic 200. Suitcase welder can stick, mig, tig and aluminum weld.
Angle iron is pretty much the universal building material for fabricobbling things back together with a welder. Nice trail fix. Got her back to the trailhead, and even on her own power! Nice!
Trail repairs are so satisfying..........when they work.
Aggravating when they don't. I broke a tie rod near Kanab once and put it back together with wire and duct tape and drove it out.
The addition of your brother is great, got the hole gang keep making videos and I’ll keep watching. Thanks 🦫🦫🦫
I myself agree with your viewers. Excellent videos. Enjoy when Paul’s wife comes in the shop.Dogs, cats, kids coming in and out. Just like my home and garage. Thanks again.
Thank You for your Hospitality to fellow Oregonians 🙏 ❤ .
PRINGLE TALES (from another Paul) I found a shelf full of long tubes of Pringles at our local Grocery Outlet Store (dented can warehouse) a while back. Those tubes were seriously crunched. No one was buying them because it looked really doubtful that the chips inside could have survived, so the price kept dropping. finally it got so low that I bought one tube just to see. Not a single broken chip! I went back that afternoon and bought the whole shelf worth. I just finally finished up the last of those a couple of weeks ago. Now back to our regularly scheduled comments.
If you put that bolt in from the other way could you get it in/out with the tire and wheels on?
Love this kind of content. Yankee Ingenuity is what got us where we are today. The older heads remember when a skilled craftsman was more valuable than some wiz bang tool that any rookie can use. The skilled craftsman has infinite ways to solve a problem. Or he can make the tool that he doesn't have to solve the problem. The greenhorn with the best tools doesn't know that he doesn't know what he doesn't know. Or what to do about a problem.
Great job Paul, showing that your mind is your best tool.
Those hi lift jack are the most DANGEROUS jack ever made!😮
Great video Paul …… it’s good that u help people get unstuck !! Whst a great snack lol 😂 it’s good that u have ur brother help u and get a lot more done!!!
you are some good guys.... helping people who just wanted to get the most out of their lives. good job fellas
Paul ya'll was raised the old fashioned way help folks treat folks way you would want to be treated. Helpin people havin fun that's pretty cool with welder on board ya'll so enjoyable to watch and learn from. I was raised to help my fellow man or women neighbors friends whoever I've always had small town values. Drove a truck 38 year's we always helped one another had problems just holler on CB someone would get help. Thanks for sharing ya'll be safe
I told my wife , if anything happens at work.. we're selling everything and moving to kanab ha ha. Love that area
