bro I have a 1981 f100 getting a transmission put in it since it hasn't had one in the truck for about 6 years good thing is I got the motor and everything else to work I just need a second gas tank since one of the 2 don't work
When I was 14,, I rode on wiper cowl Ona ""bandit" trans am,, that had the hood stolen,, pouring shots of moonshine in can carb because we ran out of gas about 2 miles from dudes grandpa's house... what a blast that was
This might have been your finest video, great to see so many different generations of friends bonding over a family car and memories. I really hope you all come back to this one soon.
Tom's dad was about to say it's been sittin for 'twenty'-something years. I totally feel him , because we all know that the 80s will always be twenty years ago!
Tom's dad is an absolute legend for riding the kart like a chariot to try and get it to fire off! I feel like i could sit for hours hearing all of the stories from Tom and his dad about the things theyve done and built. That thing is hoenstly a piece of history, that was cheap ingenuity back then for a fun little toy. I dont think any backyard-built kart nowadays could compare to what that was back then. Hopefully maybe you return to it someday and can get some life out of it. Great video you guys!
Kevin, Angus, Tom, both Dad's AND JOHN ?! Dayum, you're spoiling us with something extra for the missed episode awhile back while you were helping people after that tornado. Thank You Kevin for being so awesome.
Adding Angus full time was the best decision ever. He is hilarious, y’all are hilarious. Just a great combo and definitely adds to the content in so many ways. Keep on keepin on brother!
I think I'd like to see this goofy contraption return sooner rather than later. It's ridiculousness is just so much fun to look at. Power Tour should offer a lot of time to come up with some ideas.
Not only did this episode include some of my favorites in the junkyard digs universe but golden rust or bust makes an appearance!! Can't say there has been a video of yours I haven't watched since 2019. I'm so glad when I say you still act like the Kevin from all those years ago 😂 unlike some other automotive RUclipsrs who are lovable yet sold out
I'm not that knowledgeable with working on cars, but your channel has become one of my absolute favorites! I'm learning a lot, and soon, I hope to get to work bringing my 1975 Glasply 19' runabout back to life! It's powered by a Mercruiser 165, which is an inline 6. Also, you all seem like fantastic people! If you're ever in the Phoenix area again, hit me up! I'd love to treat you to a few cold ones!
It's really fun to see everyone come together like Tom and his dad and Kevin's dad as well.Tom's dad must be a trove of information and very cool to see him tinker on projects
Kevin you are living the dream! Great family and friends in the heartland of this great country as you revive some classic vehicles. And adding Angus as a regular to your channel was a great idea!
Another nice resurrection lady & gentlemen. I appreciate the extra detail you provide verbally on the part you are adjusting or working on. Out of necessity, I do about all the work on my vehicles, two being '79 Pontiacs. It helps a lot when you break it down Barney-style for some of us mechanically challenged DIYers.
you know it's good when 8 minutes in there is a team of 6 working on a "go kart." Also I think a roll cage, slicks, mags, and a choppy 454 would look pretty slick on this 29.
It’s awesome to see you working with all the old timers, multi generational love for cars, and anything with an engine. The project might not have run, but it was still a success.
My father bartered something for a homebuilt project like that. Had a cracked piston when he got it. He brought it back to life. Said his was like a small tractor. Had dual wheel truck rear end & two 3 speed transmissions somehow connected together in line for super low pulling power. I'm guessing the time frame would have been around 1934 or so.
ok...things I really appreciate about this episode... 1...the ol' Dodge Bros logo on whatever kinda air filter cover thing was on the carb 2...the two man lathe work...with a vintage Black n Decker angle grinder no less...(ok...I'm guessing its a B & D...sue me) 3...the fact there is almost 3 generations of gear heads under one roof (or ruff as you south of the 49th parallel pronounce it) 4...the lip reading Reycon commercial...did they KNOW you did this?? I'm dying here....oh mah gawd 5...Tom's Dad ghost riding an feedin the ol' girl enough ether to fire the Bismark from the ocean floor even... thanks for coming up with what could have been a Fathers Day Special...but wasn't... cheers from Kelowna BC!
Has to be theeeeee BEST ever Raycon advert EVER!! The video was good too! Loved the collaboration and Tom's Dad on the chassis shooting carb cleaner into the carb BRILLIANT! Thank you Guys Fairly cheered me up and a Soggy Sunday here in County Antrim!!
So yesterday I was driving up 35 from Des Moines heading for St. Paul when suddenly I noticed the exit for Ames! I started looking for a Booger truck and an Oldsmobile, but settled for a wave in Ames' general direction. Then when I got to my hotel, I had a beer about it. Cheers!
This episode was hilarious, that slow pan out at the end to reveal the tractor towing the "car" with Tom's Dad straddling the engine was just art in motion!!! Love it guys!!
Tom the Invincible Legend!, commenting as I watch, a Flat head?, you got what 3 generations of people working on this, absolutely loving it. "In theory it should work" I say that a lot too. Also Kevin a Chinook Heli out of Trent I think up in Ontario Muskoka's decided to do some low level training while I was working on a waterfront deck with my brother. Nothing I've felt hit like one of those 60-70 feet away 15-20 feet above the water going through the channel.
Love this vid! Nostalgia, multiple generations hanging and working on stuff, rust, engines, rigging parts up! We just need Mook and some sort of animal and you’d have it all! ❤
I had the same problem with the distributor disintegrating in my 1928 Dodge. I found that a small cap HEI distributor from an early '80s chevy v6 was almost a bolt in deal with some modification to the spade on the shaft. It was the vacuum advance version distributor, not the computer controlled one. In 1928 dodge used a continental engine, 1929 was dodge's own engine so it might not be apples to apples, but the thing ran way better with that HEI distributor.
If i had to guess, id say that the valves aren't sealing. I grew up with that era of automobiles ( i was a kid in the 80s). Mostly Ford A,T, and Flathead.
Would love to see a colab between you Dalton (pole barn garage) and Tom doing a budget restoration. You do the mechanics on your channel, Dalton does the bodywork and paint on his channel and then you take the car to Tom's for a budget interior. You can do rock paper scissors to decide whose channel the interior work goes on lol.
This was truly a great episode . Nice seeing everyone hanging together and having good time. Your Raycon video almost made me pooh my pants laughing. The avocados and apples reached a piece of agreement was the highlight
Excellent content, by using a family & friends shop time! Definitely had plenty of grins & giggles, not to mention some of the fixes... Great Fun, for us too! & of course the commercial content, funny enough to watch again! Thanx !
You have found a sweet spot, Angus, Tom, Tom's dad, just add Mook, John and Phoenix and one or two more of the boys and you'd get nothing at all done, but it would entertaining to be sure.
Good video, love the humor ya'll have with each other man. I just wanted to say on a side note, I was with my buds playing Pokemanz Go yesterday and while we were walking down State Street where all the small businesses are (between Bristol, VA and Bristol, TN), I saw a Junkyard Digs sticker on one of the for lease building windows. Made me laugh like crazy LOL.
In perfect honesty, all the channels I follow eventually bring their friends in at some point, and there's always a bunch that I end up not being able to stand! That's not the case with JYD! Y'all are just awesome and all mesh together like a fine machine! Mook, Angus, John, Phoenix, Tom and sorry for the others that don't come to mind right now, I like them all! You all have such chemistry together that comes through the screen, it's a big part of why JYD is my favorite channel! BTW Kevin, do you know if Mook is gonne make some new update videos about her trucks or the Nova?

I love it when Tom and his dad make an appearance.
And Junkyard Digs SR. as well.
You mean Junkyard Dad?
100%
Only in Iowa could you find two people in half a car, being pulled by a tractor, while a third person is feeding the carb! XD Kudos gentlemen!
Not really, @Sleeperdude is in Tennessee and he is doing it with Ford model T ...

Tom's dad would not give up, hanging on the side of the engine! What a legend 👏
For the longest time I was thinking, why isn't someone riding that frame rail? 😂
Ed is something else!
Was thinking the same thing. Legend!
If he's doing stuff like that at his current age imagine the stuff he did in his teens and 20's. Ed's a gem
Glad to see Tom making more appearances, Kevin. Seems like a very likeable guy. Hoping to see him more!
Tom is a legend😂. I’m glad y’all are including him in more videos
Actually he's annoying.
