I laughed when Ben said that your son would like to pickup and you said like it or not that’s what he has got. Reminded me of the time I bought my son a decent vehicle to go off to college and he wrecked it right away. So I went and bought him a used K-car LeBaron. He said it was an old man’s car. I told him to drive it accordingly then.😜

I started mowing lawns for cash when I was 11. At 12, I began working as a busboy and worked my way on up from there. I got my learner's driving permit the day I turned 15. That evening I bought my first car-and not one penny came from my parents. They were frugal and wouldn't even if I had asked. I was sheer hell on that old Mustang but I paid (sometimes dearly) for everything that was done to it out of my pocket. Soon, I realized that being out on my own meant no more tearing up my transportation and I calmed myself down. That was nearly 50 years ago. I'm still awaiting my first "participation trophy" along with my "white privilege" card. At least, I'm not holding my breath waiting for those silly things.

Clean and polish the tools so they'll look good in the freshly powder coated box. Attach the box with some of the magnets you boys took from old car speakers to a wall, door, lift, or what ever. After you round up enough magnets place each socket, ratchet, etc in that freshly powder coated box. Lid open put the box in a place it'll be tough for anyone to miss. When we were teenagers and our cars broke, our Dad would have us help fix it. He would show us or tell us what to do for the most part. That way we learned how to do it and the fact that we did it ourselves made us less likely to break things again. I was just wondering why Landon wasn't in there working with you guys since it's going to be his truck to drive ? I've seen him work on things before and he seems very capable.

4:08 I broke the thermostat housing bolts off a truck just like this when I was a boy :) ... I drilled the broken bolts (not perfectly centered either) with tap drill size for 1/4" 20 and taped them.
I meant it as a temporary fix, and planned to "add it on" next time my truck needed a real mechanic ... but it lasted longer than the truck did :)

You know what I discovered when I was Landon's age is that if I had to pay for it and I had to fix it I took better care of it. Finding other people's workarounds is part of the enjoyment of fixing things because people are just lazy one stupid to Lazy three lazy lazy lazy lazy. And then when things burn down or go wrong they scratch your head and say you know I probably should have done that differently. Hindsight is not 2020 it's just lazy people

I recently sold an '84 Chevy K10 "heavy half", 4x4, 700R4, and the old 6.2 Diesel... (with Turbo)...
I LOVED that truck. My Grandfather bought it brand new off the showroom floor. We kept it, and it barely survived my son.
So we sold it to a guy in Idaho... I hope it finds new life up there...
I would have held onto it, if I had known you needed one...
A "race truck" it was not... but if you needed to tow or haul something, it would do it!
