Kudos to the guy with the razor. “I was going too fast and wasn’t paying attention”
Lot of folks lack the humility to admit things like that.
That's how you know he won't end up there again. When you can own a mistake, you'll learn from it.
Yep, this guy doesn't look one bit insecure....Not a bullshitter.
“I don’t take any responsibility”………………. Sounds kind of familiar. Can’t think of where I heard it😉
If aint pushing the limits you aint having fun
They suck , way too top heavy , roll all the time.
I love Matt's passive-agressiveness! 😂 "Oh, thanks for letting me know!" "Now you know why vehicles are not allowed here..."
😂🤣😂
And the truck recovered in a restricted area. You have to PAY for that stupid move.
Hey he better not get to lippy he still gets paid well because of those poor people that can't read a sign LOL
With the “entitled”, sarcasm is the very best form of wit… ❤️🇷🇴
@@jtelliso if they dont like his 'lip' then he can leave them be where they are. You dont get to be a dumbass AND an egomaniac all in the same day.
Reminds me of father figures, doing the "eyyup and what have we learned?" kinda thing. I adore the wisdom expressed.
I liked the guy in the Can-Am at 6:15. No BS, no excuses:
"So, what .. what happened?"
"I was going too fast around here. Wasn't paying attention."
Especially following that entitled chick.
Saying a simple thank you or sorry you drove all the way out here never crossed that woman's mind on that first call, no manners, sadly that's the world we live in. But good content as always guys.
Yeah that's why we require down payment on long distance rescue to prevent situations like this.
If it had been me, I woulda been asking for her cc #.
@@atlasoverlandrecovery A "non-refundable deposit" is charged for this , not a "down payment". Hope your line items on bills don't say "down payment" as those are all technically open accounts you'd need to report during tax season :)
@@Reubachi thank you for pointing it out. We'll use that term next.

Just a b witch.
KAREN ALERT:. WARNING !!
What goes around comes around. Not Karen, Karma
seriously what a piece of garbage
Did roadside assistance for AAA, 20% of the jumpstart calls would be like that. They aren't paying the bill so they feel no remorse. What they didn't realize it did take 1 of their 3 allotted calls for the year, and we got paid just the same.
Giving water unsolicited to the guy you just rescued shows how much you care for your fellow humans in general! RESPECT, I WILL PAY MORE ATTENTION TO SUCH DETAILS WHENEVER I INTERACT WITH PEOPLE!!!
But no one checked the oil in the Can Am before they started it, Yikes@!
@@MrYAMAHA32177 that’s exactly what I was thinking
Many years ago we got stuck in the desert east of Ridgecrest Ca where my daughter was stationed in the Navy. We learned after our hours stuck in the 120° heat that you should have at least five(5) gallons of water per person with you in that desert. Son in law hiked out for help and the bottom of his high dollar sneakers melted off. I tried to get him to let me send them in for replacement, but he would not let me. Come on $%^& shoes; can't your sneakers stand the heat.
@@MrYAMAHA32177 There were enough cuts in the video that we may not have been shown them doing it. For as long as Matt's been doing this I highly doubt he'd forget that. Or while editing they just didn't see the value of working that into the final cut.
I've always like that they take water out when people spend extended periods of time in the desert. They typically do and its I'm sure its helped more than one person greatly
I can not believe people would call for help, get alternate help and then not at the very least call you to tell you. I would wait till you got there then pay you for your time and gas….i guess I’m just too old fashioned to exist on this planet much longer. You guys are great….
12:50 "Hey, here's some pulled pork" 🤣🤣 That's a good customer right there. Good to see there's still good people out there

Me too! And Heavy D!
All great people and business
Got to hand it to Matt for being "cool" about the cancelled tow! He couldn't say it but I will! It's pretty pathetic when people show NO consideration or common courtesy to these small business owners and the costs that they have to "eat" as a result! Unless they're completely clueless or living under a rock, they know damn well how much fuel is these days! Also, their wasted time when they could have been helping someone else!! Personally, I wish Matt could have charged them a trip charge for NO reason other than their complete lack of courtesy NOT shown to MORR! HUGE atta boy to Matt and and his crew for always being the class act professionals!
well he was also on camera
You're apparently a new viewer! Matt and his entire team are good, decent people! They do a lot for their communities AND often help people in need and don't ask for anything in return! Subscribe and follow them! You will soon see that they are genuinely good people.
Geat post J D so true !!
@@j.d.9648 I agree with you about Matt being good people. That however makes it worse for people to disrespect him by not letting him know he was no longer needed.
Spot on. I was thinking about Karma. But sometimes people don't even realize when Karma hits them in the face, or they whine that people are picking on them.
Matts such a nice guy. He gets stiffed by an inconsiderate woman, has to deal with people who drive right past the “don’t drive past this line” sign, and still gives out free t-shirts and water. Much respect for taking it in stride and not letting it get you down or ruin your day!
Good observation, I missed that there did seem to be a theme of rude or reckless people (viz., Miss No-Cancel, Mr. Trespasser, Mr. Speedy) except for the last guy who kindly tipped Skeeter with pulled pork. 🐷
@@Oudeis000Mr. Speedy didn't really seem rude or inconsiderate. He just made an honest mistake, whether he thought he was going slower than he was or he thought his rig was more capable or he didn't think the that trail was rough enough to flip the thing, one way or another he just made a mistake than anyone could make.
I love how the gate keeper girl to sand hollow laughed when she saw yall lol
Today Matt was calling ppl ou left and right "thanks for letting us know" "thats why there is a sign of no driving" etc, and im all for it, take care of whats yours and your environment
I mean it was kinda messed up that they didn’t call him and let them know that they got out🤣 wasted gas
People are pretty careless. Sad!
It doesn't say no driving because of the environment you mental midget. It says no driving because the damn sand is too soft and you'll get stuck and morons like you will Undoubtedly still drive upon it.
That chick sounded kinda buzzed, so maybe that's why, but she seemed pretty disrespectful and selfish. God forbid you consider the guys you made drive in 100+ degree heat, and $6+ gallon gas.
I noticed that Matt made the guy pay, the one who drove where he was not supposed to. Actually included it in the video. I don't think that I have ever seen Matt or any of the crew accepting a credit card before in any of the many many MORR videos I've watched. I think that was his way of letting people know that he was displeased.
People who don't call off a tow are playing a dangerous game. A tow company may decline to help you if you ever actually need them again.
I wouldn’t help them again she was snappy at him for no reason🤣🤷🏼♂️
that's also why most tow companies get credit card info up front. If you cancel, there's still a minimum charge.
Any company
I remember everyone who burns us and wastes our time
They might try and find a way to charge you still, too, depending on how much info you give.
With the cost of fuel I would have charged them for the drive. You cant expect not to pay once you make that call for help. That girl is a dirtbag
Matt. Without a box on the trailer maybe you need a Go Bag for the trailer that always goes with the trailer no matter what vehicle is pulling it and carries all the pieces you need to use it. Straps, battery box, whatever. That way you don’t need to forget more than one item whenever you need to trailer something. Just paint a gas gauge (on empty of course) on the side of the Go Bag!!
Hey Matt! I wanted to share a method of tow rope control. I Love your videos! Brings back a lot of grand memories of our gang getting stuck in places you would LOVE. Up here in the Pacific Northwest, we have hundreds of miles of old logging roads and trees so dense it makes finding a bonfire at night a challenge. So find an old stainless steel 102-inch whip antenna with the giant spring on the bottom that was used for CB Radios back in the day. Put a bracket next to your receiver hitch to mount it by some method that is easy to remove. Cut it at about the halfway point and bend the end to resemble a spring. Now when you use the rope, twist it through the spring end and when you are towing and let off the throttle it will lift the rope. When the rope lifts it will help keep it from dragging and give the person in the vehicle that is being towed a visual indication that you are slowing down. Not sure how heavy your ropes are but it worked fine with the 1inch Tow/Mooring Hauser line I used for snatching vehicles out of the mud.
That was slick. Started out driving the Golden Nugget and took a call about a recovery. I was thinking you were driving the Suzuki to a recovery and thinking this will not go well. Quick change to the Morrvair went unnoticed for a minute.
I wanna see all four of those guys in the Nugget, lol. Probably won't fit...
@@Backroad_Junkie One good thing about having all 4 guys in the Suzuki. Wouldn' have to let any air out of the tires on the sand. MIght actually have to add some. LOL
@@bgallagher8129 Those four guys (well, maybe not Ed) could probably pick the Suzuki up and move it if it got stuck, lol...
Please fix the roof rattle in the Golden Nugget. Paul mentioned fixing it but never did. It drives me crazy. Great video as usual.
Really all they would have to do in the meantime is put a new micro fiber cloth between the two loose pieces to silence and keep from scratching.
It's amazing that more parts don't fail in 105 degree temps. Nice fix. ✌👍
0:32 That was one sweet transition there!!! Took me a second to realize it had happened!!!
The Golden Nugget needs to go to SEMA.

Re; Tie downs: When I was a fresh-faced young construction worker the grizzled old owner/operator of the const business told me: "Always keep the straps with the boom truck. The boom truck can't do anything without the straps and the straps can't do anything without the crane". This sage advice is simple yet it stayed with me and applies to many things in life.
Matt is such a generous guy. Very levelheaded and always go way beyond what’s needed. Always happy to see another video hit my notifications.
😢
I'm sorry. You're video made me cry today. My dad was a very helpful mechanic. Back in the 80's I remember hanging out with my dad and watching him be a mechanic. He also helped out the ones that were stuck. Stuck in mud, snow or sand... He was much like you, making the impossible way out POSSIBLE! I tried to follow and learn as much as can. And now I regret not learning what he knew. I'm having issues with 3 of my vehicles and I wished I would of learned everything about under the hood... I lost my kind dad 3 yrs ago and miss him A LOT....
Thank you for your videos. It keeps me smiling on my gloomy days.
When it panned from Matt on the phone to the backseat I was like "How does the Golden Nugget have that much space in the back?!" Took me a second to realize they'd switched vehicles, haha
That lady could of atleast said sorry for doing that :/ some people
Wait till she calls back
I’d mark her number in my phone.. but I’m sure Matt would still run out and help her still. He’s that kind of guy.
I think she was oblivious to Matt's comment of "thanks for letting me know" suggesting that maybe she should have let him know. Some people just weren't raised to know how to be polite.
"Thanks for letting me know." (marinated in sarcasm)
Matt got his dig in.
@@YTSuxAxx I’m a millennial and would never do that.
When I'm as old as Ed, I hope to be half as cool as he is. He's a National Treasure. We need an Ed down here in Australia.
Scary being out in the sand with heat problems, even though it turned out to be the computer! Nicely done executing the recovery with the trailer and in limp mode!
I love how the dog lifts its head and looks at the camera in every video when Matt says "and Peanut is with us today" Part of the team......👍
Peanut is such a cutie 🥰🥰
Does Ed have any idea how big the internet is and just how many people love him and his story? Probably not to its fullest extent, but Big hearty handshake from Denver. Maybe ill road trip out there one day .
Hey from Lakewood
I think he has some idea now, even if he hasn't been a regular user. He's a pretty sharp guy, and is well aware of the fact that he's hanging out with people who are on RUclips even if he doesn't regularly consume it all. Being an old body-shop and paint guy, first thing he wanted to do after "the reveal" was to watch Bobby's videos of the process - which he and Matt obliged him with. He had some interesting comments about it all.
I like fact you guys keep Ed involved. The Banana makes me miss my '97 Cherokee; And, I LOVE that Morrvair build!!!
So why do I enjoy these videos so much. Someone sent me one and I have been hooked. I know nothing about the desert or that type of sand. I drive my Land Cruiser over the dunes in Carova Beach in the Outer Banks of NC. I haven't been stuck, but you can bet I'm going to order one of Matt's magic ropes! And another thing. Matt seems like a great guy to work for and his videos are all G rated which I really like. I hope others note that they don't have to shock everything with F this and F that. They whole crew seems like a happy family and I hope if I get a chance to visit my cousin in AZ next year, you can bet I'm going to stop by and see the folks at Matt's place.
They're just such a wholesome channel to watch! No profanity beeps, showing their fails and not just successes, and using teamwork to get the job done. Best content on RUclips!
You: "So what happened?"
Him "I was going too fast"
Me: "A completely honest person accepting responsibility for their actions? What? What is this 21st century unicorn, in this world of people?"
Matt went from not being sold on winches to using them for absolutely everything. Love to see the progression of recovery techniques.
I think the biggest factor in that is the switch to synthetic winch lines.
And the freedom which line
@@philb5593 I think the biggest factor is, that he actually has a winch mounted to his vehicles :D
I know. It's kinda funny. I wonder how many winches he owns at this point lol. I'm surprised he wasn't into them at first considering he runs a towing business, never seen a flatbed or wrecker without a winch 🤷♂️
His problem was never with winches, it was with how the winch was originally mounted to the Banana with the hitch mount. It was heavy, it was awkward, it stuck out, he had to remember to put it in the back of the Banana before heading out from a recovery, and he had to mount it and hook up the battery every time he needed it. Most recoveries, by the time he has it set up and ready to go, he could have snatched them out already.
Now that he has the winches properly mounted, it's always on the front and ready to go, there's no faffing about to get them ready, just pull the line out and hook it up.
Matt did a great job helping the customers out and staying calm when the guy didn't call and cancel the tow. No respect anymore. Glad you got the banana fixed the morrvair does need a break from time to time! 😊
I freaking love Ed and I love how you guys look after him. So awesome
Matt: "I know why he rolled. He was going way too fast!"
Customer: "I was going too fast back there."

Man, it's so good to see Ed getting such deserved family & friends. In a country that largely ignores their elders, people like these folks make everything better. (not that Ed is elderly, cuz he's a beast!)

Matt's generous nature is clearly shown by the wonderful present he gave to Ed rescuing the Golden Nugget and arranging for all the works to be carried out by his generous friends. I love watching his videos. Jeff , Shrewsbury UK.
Pulled pork out of somebody's Reserve has to be one of the best thank yous out there?!?

Matt you have an amazing team no matter what combination of people that you have on the job. It is messed up the customer didn't have enough respect to call you and let you know they got out.
Even in limp mode the banana is still a work horse I knew you would figure out how to fix the banana
The only thing you are missing is Lizzy she is a vital part of the team in my opinion

HUGE difference between Matt's vehicles and a tow truck ..... Regular tow trucks (and yes there are lots of 4*4 tow trucks out there) aren't made for going where Matt has specifically built his vehicles to go.
I like how you went through the Banana and eliminating problems one at a time.
My God... be still my heart!!!... Matt is actually WILLINGLY using his WINCH!!!! 😂
You guys are too cool. My oldest son turned me on to the Golden Nugget and now I'm totally hooked, better than anything ever on cable, well done everybody.
There were more people cheering Matt on on that recovery than there were at Brandons Inauguration!!!
If only there was a way to name Sand Hollow in such a way that people could tell what the soil was like without actually having to drive thru it to find out.
For those that want to start an off road recovery tow service you can see there is way more to it than just showing up onsite with a rope....way way more to it...If you had to pay someone to fix your outfit every time something got broken you would go broke besides all the wait time to get it fixed...Matt needs to walk us thru his set up for us newbies...The yard , Trucks & trailers ropes dogs kids....dis dat and the other thing to be in business...and for all you wantabee tow dudes and gals if you need a live onsite " Ed " for your off road recovery in Hawaii...
