4runner On The Devils Racetrack

  • Got a call from a guy that was up on top of the San Rafael Swell in an area called the Devils Racetrack. He said he had lost 4WD and he thought the front differential had broken. We assumed it was probably an axleshaft so we took one with us. We trailer up to a rest stop on I-70 then unloaded and headed in. We got to the vehicle and got it backed down the hill and into a wider ares to repair. Turns out it was the driver front axleshaft so we swapped it quick and they were able to drive it out. Back at the shop we were doing some maintenance/repairs on Trailmater. The driver wheel studs broke so we had to replace them. While we were there we did new wheel bearings and noticed the leaf spring center pin had broke. After taking that out we realized the main spring had broke. So we patched it while waiting on new parts to get here. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

I don't know why but when that young lady quipped that the Dude's mom would have to see his poor decision making on the Interwebs, I wondered WHY she would hold such a feeling particularlly to his detriment. His mon wouldn't know how to evaluate this particular situation and unless the woman colored the event with her own bias in explaining why they were stuck and what led up to it. I shouted at him through my monitor that he needs a NEW YT Channel of his own and especially a new girlfriend/wife/+1. In the game of life she may be 'broke to lead' but she sure ain't 'broke to ride'.

Just put a comment on the previous video and one of the things I said … because I saw those white blossoms Mike took a shot of in passing … was ‘You’ll have to take a closeup of some of those blossoms before they are all gone, Mike.’ Then I look at this video … and sure enough, it’s almost as if Mike read my mind … there’s a closeup of a flower blossom. Regarding fake steel trees, a number of years ago I was working in Fort McMurray Alberta on an oil sands plant. It was just before Christmas and we went out on days off. When we returned, there was a large 20' high steel Christmas tree located about 100' in the air on a steel structure complete with lights. Seems a group of iron workers who had been kept back on their days off had decided to get into the Christmas spirit and built the tree and installed it on double time wages. The powers that be calculated that the tree had cost north of $20,000 to create. Management took great umbrage to this waste of capital funds and fired the whole lot including the foreman and crane operator that hauled it up there which was bad, but the tree stayed which was good.
Warning to iron workers, if you are going to build a tree do it on straight time not double time and you might keep your job.....lol

Rory I always enjoy your videos you guys know how to work and have fun at the same time.
This was definitely an interesting video since that suspicious Tree which isn't a tree was a cool Discovery.
