@@mikeworkman3593 I understand and appreciate your insightful comment. If I could, I would edit or amend my initial posting to say, "as part of an AD HOC committee . . ." If the Executive Committee appoints him to the AD HOC committee, then he is 'worthy'. Perhaps he has something more to bring than experience as a mechanic to the committee? Even better eyesight would be enough or a family discount at a local burger joint. Diversity in a committee is the best way to avoid Group Think.

One of my favorite parts of this channel is the way Paul and Ben just sort of know what the other is going to do, before they do it. Great job guys.
If you have 2 people that have an expertise at a field it is easy to know what the other is gonna do because it's exactly what they would do themselves.

well, I know a fella with one; its called "Trail Mater" and its owner is called Rory. Another fella is building a big yellow one, but I doubt it will ever get finished. Cant seem to keep the cab on. There is a third one out there somewhere, but waiting for Robby Layton to paint it up like a "Nugget" What is that?? Wouldn't hold your breath on that one getting done this decade either. I'd go with Trail Mater.😀😃😅😂
Turn your radio up! 😂. Watching your site is like watching reruns of Leave It To Beaver! One episode Beaver is 12 years old. The very next episode he’s 5 years old! I watched your episode the other day when you did the road trip to deliver the Coronet. Now I watch this episode and the Coronet is in the background! LOL

As always another great video, it was extra special seeing Randall back in his Fab Rats gear on the channel! Definitely him and Dar are the two characters I miss the most.
I love that paul treats hunter with respect and as if he was his own son, he's gonna be remembered fondly by a lot of people someday 👍 the world needs more men that are willing to take young men under their wing
So, a totally off topic question...Are you guys going to do an episode on Ben's Jeep ? How bad is the damage from the crash, plans for rebuild, improvements ? I for one would like to see that. Thanks for what you guys do !

I watched this video when it was released a few months ago, but decided to watch it again tonight. Just wanted to give kudos to Michelle (and/or whoever is helping her with the editing) for the way this video is edited. It's cohesive, fast, tight, and it tells the story well. It has been great watching the progress and success of this channel (and the rest of the Utah gang). Good camera work and editing deserves a lot of the credit for that growth.
The last time I was this early Landon's flatbed truck only had its first engine in it!

Peening it brings the welded area back to a relaxed stated. That way the is no stress where welded. C32 rod high in nickel you use on cast iron

Great video as always, but the end was the best- you were hanging out with a buddy who needed a bit of help, and you certainly did him a solid by throwing it out there for all of us to support him. Personally looking forward to watching you guys fix the stuff that broke

I’ve been looking for this video since 8:30 this morning ( it’s 8:01 pm now). Best channel on RUclips !! A no bull, all entertainment, every video. All except that part about big block in a Mustang with stock radiator. Paul is a hot rod. Ben is 1st class mechanic trying to keep Paul on crooked & narrow roads of Utah. Can’t wait to see this rad rod tow truck on the road.

For any cast iron metal welding. Use Inconel - chromium alloy welding rods. (Inconel 600) welding rods are self stress relief.

i was going to comment on the late drop however after watching the video i can see why! great recovery video but then again FABRATS only puts out top shelf videos, super job editing Michelle, and great to see Randell again i hope he has a rock crawler built by now. My guess, this happened not today, but in the past day or two perhaps as editing takes time to do. Also, Michelle does all the editing and does it around being a Mom and husband.
Besides, some of the clips were shot before the Coronet being delivered to the winner, which was late last week, with Matt and Jayme of MORR.

That's a quality 'recovery' when you can break/compromise every rig except the trailer puller you brought. You don't often get such opportunities; one must grab them as they show up! At least you got home!

Hog Canyon is not the for faint of heart from what I have seen. What a great trail fix recovery and tow outta there. Additional issues but you guys made it work! Good luck Randall!
I really enjoy the fact that you show when things go wrong! I rebuilt the engine in my first car and put it together to tight so I had to push start it unless it had time to cool off. I'd park it on a hill or had to have a good friend to help push it . Fun days

When the weld cools, they shrink. We usually use a cold chisel directly on the weld seam to cause it to expand toward the cast iron and reduce the weld line attempting to pull the cast apart. If there is a tall bead on your weld, the air hammer probably does the same thing. We would also use nickel rod which is softer and can be hammered, again to release the tension on the casting.
I didn't get drawn this year and Randle may get to hunt in my state... well I still voted for you Randle, do me proud.

Dar's jeep is just about perfect in my eyes - that just little bit of stretch gives it the wheelbase, I imagine there's not much that jeep can't do. Great to see Randall again!
I remember my uncle would weld a base weld with nickle rod, then weld over with mig welder. He was a Forman on road paving crew, and later worked on city firetrucks and heavy equipment.

I love how hunter hasn't seen all the tricks to the trade so when Paul starts the jeep by hitting the starter he just smiles at hunter cracked me up
My dad taught me that same trick on my J10 Truck - brought back some good memories.
Had a 93 Ford F150 4x4, 5 speed manual and for about 3 months, that is the only way I could start that thing.. carried around a small ball peen hammer in the truck and had to crawl underneath it everyday until I finally fixed it , early twenties at that point so I was still pretty dumb
The commutator brushes get cocked on their slides........Whack the starter a few times and the brushes contact the rotor....electrons move.... the starter cranks.
Also, the Bendix can hang up causing the starter drive to NOT DISENGAGE when the engine starts.......IMMEDIATELY whack the crap out of the starter housing before the starter motor destroys itself.
As soon as either of these conditions occurs.....Immediately rebuild/replace the starter....
For a while I used to carry a tire lever to do the same thing with my Fj45
