In the 2000's Bob Barker retired from Price is Right, in 2020 we lose Alex Trebek of Jeopardy (god bless both of these wonderful men), and here and now, Pat Sajak rides off into the sunset retiring from Wheel of Fortune. Game shows will never be the same without these men. Happy Trails, Pat! You've earned a happy retirement! God bless ya!
Pat is right, the beauty of the show was that it was just the game. No politics, no anger, hardly even any competitive feeling. Just people and puzzles.
42, born in 1981. My father was a huge Wheel of Fortune fan. It was on almost nightly during my upbringing. At various times it has been on in my home too, watching with my own children. Truly odd to see him end his tenure, but all good things do come to an end. Pat is a class act.
@Point_Particle his personal accounts are just that, personal. If it didn't show up in the show, then he spoke the truth. Wonder if you'd have the fortitude to work at the same job for 41 years.
This was my mom's favorite show to watch. She passed away from cancer six months ago. Even up until her last week alive, she watched this show. Thank you, Pat.
My condolences on your very great loss. For my mother it was always JEOPARDY! but the memories are similar. A good game show that makes you *think* to solve it can be a strong unifying force in very different lives. Be safe and well.
My condolences 😢 My mother passed away from cancer 2010. Mom enjoyed Wheel of Fortune & the Price is Right. She watched them both up to a few days of her passing.
He’ll definitely will be missed and I think no one will replace him, I hope Ryan Seacrest does a great job at wheel of fortune in the fall, happy retirement and happy Father’s Day to Pat Sajak 😁😁😁😊😊😊
This was my Grand Mothers favorite show, she raised me into a successful man, I'm 42 now. She passed away from cancer in 1994, she would want me to thank you for all the years of entertainment you brought us. So thank you Pat Sajak and Vanna White. Thank you!
I just turned 40, I remember my grandparents taking me out to pizza in their very small town and watching the wheel. My mom's mom died in '93 at 89 and my other grandma a decade later. But, I really miss my grandpa he was such a kind shirt off his back humble man. I will cherish the memories of watching the wheel with my mom too. This is such an emotional goodbye, but really it's a see ya' later in the end...
Yeah, thank you guys from my grandmother as well. She did a lot of watching a “sick” me and was always at my ball games. She too passed from cancer in ‘05.
I’m 42, it was my Grandmothers as well…she passed last October and walked into her room with Wheel Of Fortune playing as she lied there in peace..thanks for all the amazing years..a great send off
Also waving from the grandparents' couch, I remember being a kid my grandparents had a big 80s CRT TV, built into a wooden stand, had the old tuning knobs and a digital clock, I remember Jeopardy+Wheel of Fortune being on every night we visited. Might've been playing board games or Uno or cooking or something, but those classic dings and beeps, the wheel spinning, Vanna tapping the screens, were consistent evening sounds in their house. They've been gone a decade and two, and it's been 3 since we were kids visiting, still holds fond memories for me. Thanks from my grandma and grandpa to Pat and Vanna.
You basically described my situation exactly. I'm 42 and my grandmother watched this religiously and also passed away from cancer in 1994. I know those are kind of broad details but I was still struck by the similarity. This really is the end of an era..
1996 I came here in the US all by myself. My family’s in the Philippines. I was so depressed and crying all day until my Grandma turn the TV on Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. It became a habit and I would say it helps me on my depression for I knew I have something to look forward to everyday. Thank you Mr. Pat Sajak and Mr. Alex Trebek you made me feel like a family.
My grandmother could have been a contestant on the show. Many is the time that she would be watching, and a particular puzzle would have only a handful of letters up there, and she would solve it. She was a whiz when it came to things like this.
As a child of the 80s I remember watching WOF with my family during dinner time. As a first gen. American of immigrant parents even though my parents weren't fluent in English, watching this show was an opportunity for me to learn new words and phrases and share them with them. Pat and Vanna will be the best game show duo by far.
God Bless Pat. I'm a 43 year old tearing up at your good bye. When I was a kid me and my parents would watch wheel religiously and I always proclaimed that Vanna White was my girlfriend. I hope you have a wonderful retirement and I wish all the absolute best to you on your retirement to you and to your family.
You took the words from my mouth. I'm 42 & can basically say the same, except it was my grandparents who watched Wheel religiously, and my brother & I got right into it alongside them. They've passed away in the late 90's. Hearing Pat's voice always takes me right back to their living room floor, watching it with them 😊
There’s a beautiful sentimental quality about these posts with the tie-ins to family. It is a further reminder how short this life is and how we cherish the small things like this vividly and to never take it for granted. I too feel the same family connections in looking back on the many years I watched this show.
My great grandfather died this year at the age of 101, Wheel of Fortune was his favorite show. Thank you Pat for all the happy memories, and the time I spent with him watching this show
Everyone who was watching this episode must have shed a few tears. You've had such an impact of family's upbringings all across the world, and the show truly has been a place for people to come together. Thank you, Pat.
I wonder how many people remember that Chuck Woolery was the original host and was on the show for its first six seasons (or that the original format had each round's winners having to "buy" from a group of prizes with way over valued "prices"?)
@jamesrawlins735 I remember Chuck Woolery being the host and Susan was the letter turner. She quit because she wanted a career as a registered nurse. Soon after she quit the show, Chuck Woolery also quit the show.
Pat, I grew up with such game show stalwarts as Bob Barker, Gene Rayburn, Peter Marshall, Bill Cullen, Art Flemming, Bob Ewbanks, Richard Dawson, even early Wheel hosts like Chuck Woolery but you and Alex Trebek aged with me from my late teens into my late 50's and I wouldn't trade a moment for anything. I wish nothing but the best for you and your family. Enjoy your retirement. You earned and deserve it. God bless.
Bob Barker, Alex Trebek, and Pat Sajak were my childhood growing up. I remember watching these shows almost everyday with my grandparents. Makes me want to go back to the good ole' days.
This show, Jeopardy, and The Price is Right were literally my childhood. I’m happy he got to do this for so long and glad for him that he gets to enjoy his golden years with his family, and incredibly sad that it’s over.
For me, at least 30 years. I'm gonna miss Pat Sajak the legendary icon host of Wheel of Fortune (1983-2024) ❤ 3:25 Pat Sajak said That's it. Thank you all so very much. 3:29 And goodbye.
Pat is a CLASS ACT!!! He will be missed greatly by our family and I'm sure by everyone. God Bless you Pat. I am the wife of a Vietnam Veteran from 1967/68 tour. Thank you for your service to our country!
Born in the 80's in South Korea, I always watched your show and Jeopardy on the AFKN channel. I didn't understand English, but spinning the wheel was so much fun. Your show is a memory from my childhood and I was happy to watch your show even when I came to live in the United States. Thank you and we will always miss you, Pat.
Im still crying. I immigrated to the United States in 2001 and this show meant everything to me. I laughed a lot, cried sometimes but every day made sure I tuned in at 630 to see Pat and Vanna. This is the greatest show on TV and I will miss mr Pat so much . An outstanding and distinguished gentleman how can anyone ever fill his shoes. Ride on Mr Pat, such a blessing to many and May God bless you!!
Pat Sajak another piece of Americana riding off into the sunset. Happy trails. His humor and wit made the show complete. Never at a loss for words and witty come back 👍💯❤️⭐
Pat was a professional host and part of the broadcast community that conducted themselves as professionals. Wheel of Fortune was a fantastic show during his time there. He kept the show clean, and did welcome all to the stage who participated in the game. Best wishes to Pat and family!
That’s all folks. The end of a memorable run, on America’s Game, Wheel of Fortune, with your host, Pat Sajak. Thank you for all the spinning, vowel purchasing, and classic and crazy puzzles, over the years. You will be missed for sure. Good Luck, Pat. God bless. Keep the Faith, Pass the Peace, Make the Magic, and Share the Love.
I used to sit with my mom as a young boy and watch Wheel Of Fortune with her. She passed away 20 years ago. Thank you for helping to give me those fond memories of her.
I've been watching Wheel of Fortune for almost 40 years and the biggest joy I got from watching Wheel is when my daughter comes into my room and challenges me to solve puzzles against her. I got her and she got me on some occasions but the time spent will forever be valuable. Enjoy your retirement, Pat and thank you for 41 awesome years hosting Wheel of Fortune!
My family has been watching the Wheel every week night at dinner since the 80’s. It’s like losing a member of the family. I hope Pat shows up some time in the future for a celebrity or charity special so we can all have a reunion one day.🙂 He will be missed.
I was born in 2001 and I've grown up with Pat nightly in my home for 22 years, and now it feels like a part of my daily life is being changed forever. Thank you for everything Pat, Wheel won't be the same without you.
I was born in 1998 and I grew up watching Wheel of Fortune almost everyday. I knew something added because not only the syndicated one, the primetime was added in 2021
As one born in 1976, I barely remembered the early NBC years with Chuck Woolery and Susan Stafford; Pat and Vanna were the two I grew up watching on my local ABC station (although I did get to see the daytime NBC version when outside of the Philadelphia market as KYW-TV, who prior to 1994 was a NBC affiliate owned by Westinghouse, did have some notoriety, like WPVI-TV prior to Disney's acquisition of ABC, of preempting network shows in favor of locally-produced programming).
A class act and a legend. I’m 45 and Pat Sajak has always been there as long as I can remember. I’ve now worked in television for the past 23 years and I can only thing what a privilege it would have been to work on an American TV icon on like Wheel of Fortune.
My family watched you from the very beginning, sometimes together, and sometimes in our separate houses. After my kids grew up and moved out, I stopped by my parents a couple of nights a week to watch with them, instead of always watching by myself. Then in the last several years of my parent's lives, I moved in to help them out, and we had so much fun watching together again. After Mom passed, it was just Dad and I, watching, and now just me again. It has ALWAYS brought fun and laughter into every day - and kept our brains active. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH, PAT, FOR ALL THOSE YEARS OF BLESSINGS!! I pray the Lord will bless you and those you care about, always!
Pat Sajak and Vanna are such classy and humble people who made the end of the day so much more relaxing. May God continue to bless them and theirs with whatever they do next in life.❤
Hi Pat, I'm from Singapore and I watch your Wheel of Fortune everyday without fail. I love solving the word puzzles, and now, even my mum who doesn't understand English also likes to watch your show. Thank you Pat and I wish you all the best in all your future endeavors.
I'm 35, soon to be 36 and my earliest memory of this show is probably from when I was 5 or 6. It use to play on our local TV station on syndication. First Alex, now Pat. The things from my childhood are almost all gone. I guess that's what happens with time.
Time is undefeated. YOu can't beat it. No matter how much you try to fight it. You can't ever defeat it. Time dictates everything. We have the memories. That's all we have on our way out on Earth
It’s not about making the host proud. It’s about making your friends and family and yourself proud. Even if you don’t win any money, you’ll still feel like a winner for being on the show which is pretty hard to get on anyways.
@@scottleung9587 I was on the show way back in 2005(taped in New Orleans two days before Katrina) and despite being the big winner, the overall experience was by far the best part of being a contestant.
My mom recently died about 8 months ago. When she was taken off a ventilator and had only a day left to live, I watched jeopardy and wheel of fortune with her as we often watched it together in the 1.5 years I was taking care of her at the end of her life. Your impact on people's lives is immense, you will never be forgotten and I'm grateful for everything you did for my family.
That was a great heartfelt and bittersweet speech, Pat. You've entertained me in my home for decades. Merv Griffin certainly made a great choice in hiring you not just for the daytime version in 1981, but the nighttime syndicated version in 1983. Merv would be very proud of the fact that you entertained generations of Americans every night. Your run was not only great, but spin-credible, too. All the nightly closes with Vanna had plenty to laugh about, plus they added a little bit of "spin" to them. All those times when you and Vanna were announced every night by Jack Clark, M.G. Kelly, Charlie O'Donnell, and Jim Thornton helped begin another entertaining show as well as the audience chant for Wheel of Fortune. And I haven't forgotten those rare occasions when fill-in announcers like Jeopardy announcer Johnny Gilbert announced your name as well. You and Vanna helped make the show what it is today, a legendary part of Americana. Through all the happy times, the sad times, and many hilarious ones, too, you handled it all extremely well. And for 41 seasons, that's definitely saying something. In other words, I had a "wheel" good time. While I will miss you on the show very much, I can still catch you on summer reruns, as you said before, plus Pluto TV as well. I may forget a few things that I want to say, but what I know I'll remember to say is this: Thank you, Pat, for entertaining millions of Americans and people all around the world for the past 41 years, and congratulations on your retirement. You definitely deserve it.
What a classy and well written farewell speech! You will be missed, Mr Sajack! Thank you for the many years of making “The Wheel” entertaining for me and my family!
Who here feels like for the past few years, pieces of our childhood are fading away. My grandmother and I watched Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and the Price is Right together. It was sweet watching her get answers right and solving hard puzzles. I'd tell her how smart she was. I Miss her So Much. Memories, moments, and mentors from my youth are slowly fading away. But that's life. While we can't pause time, we can take a moment to remember, reflect, and cherish those happier times. 💜☺️
This guy is so consistent at what he does and he's intelligent and witty. Like he says, it is humility that makes people likeable. That's a quality lacking in today's TV and movie celebrities.
Pat you will retire a Legend and thank you for a lifetime of wheel of fortune been watching you since I could crawl and I’m nearly 50 years old now.go enjoy your retirement sir well deserved.
What a class act. We will never have Pat or legends of his pedigree again. Our country is full of attitude & ego… he spoke nothing about himself in his entire farewell. God bless Pat Sajak
Honestly, he doesn't even need to. He's already won at life and has it all. All he has to do now is enjoy his much deserved retirement with his family. He knows his name is cemented in popular culture for decades to come.
Meh.. we say that every generation and every generation.. there are plenty of others who fill the gaps. Don't settle for the past ... emulate and achieve the same yourself!!!
@@pesto12601 you want me to become the wheel of fortune host? I’m not talking about success - I’m talking about class. And if “we say it every generation” then we certainly do not embrace it.
@@pesto12601 Sadly, this latest generation are collectively selfish, overly sensitive and entitled as a whole. No grace or class, with broken moral compasses. But Ryan will be fine on Wheel, he is 49, and not of this generation. He understands the assignment and is an excellent choice. But no one will ever truly fill the shoes of those that are now gone.
Thank you Pat. I remember growing up with Wheel of Fortune in the 80’s. Every night it was dinner, bath time and then Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and then bedtime. I look back on those times with a smile in my heart.
I used to watch Wheel of Fortune all the time with my grandparents when I was young. They were remarkable people immagrants that survived the Great Depression, served during WW2 and so much more. They passed away almost 30 years ago. There aren’t many things left in the world to remind me of them. So thank you Pat, Vanna and crew for enduring for so long. I’ll still catch a rerun here and there and think of them.
Just came here to say thanks Pat. Born in 84 watched you with my grandparents and it’s some of my most fondest memories. Seriously life was grand when Wheel of Fortune was on. Thank you.
I was born in 1981. I watched Wheel of Fortune since I was about 4 years old, when my grandma would babysit me, and then later with my mom when she had better working hours. I remember watching when the tiles were physical flip tiles. I even had the board game lol... Wheel of Fortune has been a big part of my childhood and adult life, and Pat Sajak made that possible. Hearing this message brings tears to my eyes. Thanks for all the memories, Pat. We love you ❤
Pat, I have no words to express my appreciation for you and all you've done for ALL these years. Wheel of fortune transcends culture, nationality, politics and gender. It's just an amazing show for all mankind!!! Thank you for consistency of grace, humor, honor, love and respect. My evening is planned around this amazing 30 minutes of every day.. this show has brought generations of my family together on two-way, three-way, face-time and zoom...from rotary phones to cellphones, ipads and laptops....across time zones too. We are all faithful to tune in and can't sleep or rest properly until we get our wheel fix. We love you and will sorely miss but at the same time wish you the very best of life❤
Thank you Mr. Sajak for the last 41 years of hosting America’s Game Show. What a true legacy & honor that you have to be with us after all these years. I could remember the times when I was young to watch this show but not as much until 2008 along with Jeopardy where I would watch both consecutively. Mr. Alex Trebek & Merv Griffin would be so proud of this amazing feat. We will miss you sir with the lovely Vanna White who we will see in the next season. Thank you again. Gone but never will be forgotten on WOF.
I’m really sad that the era has ended, but I’m happy to see Pat Sajak is looking healthy regarding his retirement from his hosting duty. As much as I would have loved to meet him in-person while being a contestant, I don’t regret the fact that I kept watching every night and watch Sajak throw his hilarious wits and momentary reactions that were charismatic and enjoyable. Especially how I grew up watching this show at the age of 2. All I can say is thank you, Pat, for keeping us entertained, and the wheel spinning. You will be missed. Here’s to many more episodes of Wheel in the upcoming post-Sajak era in season 42. 🥂
You along with Bob Barker, and Alex Trebek, all three of you gentlemen helped shape our lives in wonderful ways throughout the generations. I always enjoyed tuning into your programs as I've grown older and it's been a joy to see them time and again. You've earned this retirement, Pat. Enjoy it!

I have had the honor of watching almost every episode from 1981; I was one then and am 43 now, but truly the evolution of this show has made the days - especially the 6:30 PM timeslot (central time!) an opportunity to put aside the thoughts of the day, watch a few people win some money, laugh at their joys, yell at them for making what might've been simple mistakes, and certainly for seeing what Vanna is wearing, gigging at Pat - and of course just watching what has been a great show. Thank you Pat. (Ryan Seacrest, the glove has been tossed; you have a lot to live up to.)

Thank you for sharing such a beautiful comment. It is so sad that it's over.
What a beautiful memory… wishing you the BEST!

@JasonPaul46no, Vanna's staying at least 1 more year with Ryan Seacrest taking over as host. The Wheel will continue to spin...

My Mom is 93 and still watches the show faithfully. She's still quite good at solving puzzles. Thank you, Pat. Enjoy the rest of your life.
I would like to solve the puzzle.
Thank you pat sajak for all you've done in the last 40 years
God Bless Pat.
In all seriousness, you might want to get your testosterone levels checked if you haven't already.

Very few people have done one job for over 40 years. Pat, thank you for being a great host of “Wheel of Fortune.”

@@lynettepalecek3141 Correction: Chuck Woolery quit the show in '81 before Susan did in '82.
God bless.

What amazing memories you and your daughter have together! Such a blessing.
Born in 1989 😢
A class act and a legend. I’m 45 and Pat Sajak has always been there as long as I can remember. I’ve now worked in television for the past 23 years and I can only thing what a privilege it would have been to work on an American TV icon on like Wheel of Fortune.
I'm 45 and Pat has been my life from a kid. Pat you a great man, now go enjoy all you dreamed of.
Well, at least from season 7 on (Chuck Woolery was the original host for the show's first six seasons.)
Thank you Pat Sajak for being an awesome & legendary host on Wheel Of Fortune the last 41 years, & the great memories!
This show was a staple of my childhood. This show brought families together in the 90s, 2000s and even today. It wont be the same without Pat.

Thank you Pat for the wonderful memories over the years. You will be missed!
