    Does a ute make a good family car? That’s the question many parents are asking themselves especially these days when the top two best selling cars in Australia are actually utes.
    In order to find out, Richard Berry recently put the Navara Dual-Cab ST-X 4x4 pickup truck to the test with his family - and he very quickly found out its family-car strengths and weaknesses.
    Is it a better alternative to a midsize or large SUV? Or would you be better off considering a Ford Ranger or Toyota HiLux for your next dual-purpose rig?

    11:00 - I presume you left it in 2WD because your centre diff would rip itself apart if you put it into 4wd driving on sealed surfaces. As traditional part-time 4wd utes have become popular, it's terrifying how many new owners don't understand that 4wd is not AWD.

    • @harryharry2708
      @harryharry2708 2 года назад

      How would bitumen destroy the mechanism but tough grippy offroad terrain wouldnt ? Its said that never using 4wd can cause further issues with the front diff being knocked in 1 place for many many years, causing a new found issue when your finally using offroad. Depending on the road conditions/ and towing 4wd -4h can almost always be a safer option

      @@harryharry2708 When you have a flat battery or it has been changed this certainly comes up straight away. This will disappear after next start up. My battery is a month old though so not a battery issue...unless RACV sold me a dud battery.

      Collapsible crates for me, in my old d22.
      I just load back into my trolley at the checkout and unload directly into my crates in the back at the Ute. If I’m worried about them sliding around (which I’m normally not), I use an occy strap with the tie down points.
      Waiting on my new Ute to come in, and getting a roll away cover on it which is lockable on the central locking… cost a few dollars though.

    Instead of spending a couple of days in nav, try 4 years? My 2017 nav has never let me down, we are a family of 4 living in Darwin, this nav has been more comfortable and reliable then previous Hilux's. My next vehicle and most likely this year, will be another nav. Who cares abour "Oh its old aging interior " It is reliable and very functional. Typical journalism spending a couple days in vehicle, rather than long term.

    I lOVE Navara but it is getting old: It needs a better interior or match what other Nissan cars offer like the Xtrail or even the Kicks. Mine is the previous gen and it is basically the same (with more cup holders lol) The pro4x should include a better suspension with a lift. The engine is getting old.
