Although I have higher grade Nikons, I have just purchased a Nikon D3100 because it was not expensive. Having used it, I am amazed how good it is. Its easy to use, takes great photos and considering its age, (mine was originally purchased new in 2012), the technology is still really good. I would fully recommend this camera to anyone who wants a good quality camera which is available at bargain prices. Great video by the way !
i'm brazilian and i bought a Nikon D3100 to start working. Your channel is one of the best I've seen and the fact that it has a PTBR subtitle has already helped a lot, congratulations on the content, +1 subscribed
Thanks for the tips man , i hv this camera for about 10 yrs , now im thinking on using it again since its been sitting on shelf for a long time , hye from malaysia your new sub✌🏻
I bought my D3100 20 years ago. Around 5 years ago I bought a D7100 as I thought I had outgrown my 3100. The D7100 is a great camera but recently I pulled out my old 3100, bought new batteries for it and fired it up. I am amazed at how good this camera still is. It does not have all the buttons and the tricks of the D7100 but it does the basics just fine! It is a great camera to do "normal" photography and will allow you to learn how to control the camera for more artistic shots! I have put mine back into service alongside my regular use of the D7100!
Thank you for this video. Do me a lot of favour. I am having a very bad time trying to shoot indoor. Can't stop thinking what kind of setting should I use. And this helps me understand a lot. Thank you very much
I have had this camera since it came out and your video is awesome. I can finally leave the book of directions in my bag. I usually carry it around with my camera.
Still got my D3100. It's a great workhorse camera and awesome lens selection since release. Just upgraded to the Canon M200 though as needed clean HDMI with indefinite video. Really wanted the D3100 to do this, but I guess I'm asking a lot in 2020 for a 10 year old camera. Even custom firmware doesn't offer it...searched long and hard too as still love this camera.
@@FoxTailWhipz I actually caught a bit of flack from people saying it’s a dinosaur and too old to be any good for astrophotography .. lol. I think I’ll be fine. Although if I can find another 3100 cheep I want to have the ir cut filter removed. 👍🏻
Just got this cam for my birthday, it's really cool! This video was really useful, I mean most of the settings are already fine with their default value, but not all of them, so it's a good video to get started.
I've used this camera since it was released 10 years ago for landscape photography . But after using the Google Pixel 3xl and seen the quality of photos it took I put the D3100 back in it's bag. I've now got the Huawei p40 pro and the D3100 is going up for sale.. Still a wonderful camera but flagship camera phone's have it beaten in photo quality, weight, bulk etc.. THANK YOU but i have a problem can you help i'm looking to purchase a camera with good video quality and mic input for youtube under $250 either used or not
Thank you for your info. I bought this camera in 2011. The camera still very good only the screen turns vignette, dark surrounding its edge of screen. But of course the picture wont effect the darkness.
I have a D3100 series Nikon 2012 model. I like it but I want to get a stronger lens later on. I like the way it operates so far. I have not had a chance to really use it much but I plant to this week. I'm doing a photo shoot inside and I'm anxious to see how well the pictures come out using natural daylight. These settings you just went over really helps a lot. I love photography, I really do. But its one of those things where I love it but its difficult for me to master. I always feel like I am guessing my way around shooting and other things. One thing I don't like is that I can't seem to find how to turn off this 2 second or 10 second timer delay in order to use the remote hand held flicker I have hooked up the camera. Do you know how to find it because I don't see it in any of the menus.
Hi, I hope you can give me insight...I have a D3100. I have had it about 15 years. Its the only DSLR camera I have ever owned. I am looking to upgrade for Vlogging and Merchandise pictures. I only have the standard lens 18-55mm. Do you recommend I work with the lens I have or purchase a specific lens, or go ahead and upgrade my entire body? Thank you.
My picture is from an Around-the-Eastern-Us motor canoe trek in 1980-81. Back then I could only afford a Yashica TL Electro. Now I'm retired and starting over. Just bought a Nikon D3100 - have taken NO pictures yet. THANKS for your videos. NOTES: 1. Background music too loud and DETRACTS from your information. 2. Slow your speech a little and ENUNCIATE DISTINCTLY. You have good information - - I had to back the video several times to get what you were saying. 3. Hi I have a question when use my camera in live view is supposed to look on screen dark or bright trying to get the exposure and my camera doesn't change the screen Nikon d3100
I have not yet taken any pics with my Nikon D3100 and am using your instructions to get it set up. When I try to adjust 'image size' the camera tells me I ' can't do it on the current settings.' I have it on RAW, and normal, so what am I doing that makes it impossible to set image size onto LARGE as you suggest?
I am taking action pictures in a hockey rink, usually through glass and am having a hard time finding what the best settings for shooting would be with the D3100 to get sharp phots that aren't blurry or grainy. I'm usually using my 55-200mm lens for these shots. Any help is appreciated.
The more light you have the better. I'm assuming the hockey rink is nicely lit, but if you can raise your shutter speed and open the aperture up wider (lower f number), you'll get clearer images. Like he said in this video, shooting a lower ISO will also help reduce noise. I found 400 is a pretty decent compromise
