I just spawn in few Mac cannon stations and still that wasn't enough against there fleet. It's a cool mod. An still alive if any ones wondering. Not sure for how long though?

year old thread but tbh it definitely depends on who the Covenant is fighting. The whole galaxy? Nahhh Covenant lose. The Galactic Empire? Star Destroyers be OP and the Empire's got (practically) unlimited resources. But they definitely stand a chance against most other SW factions. Wish we could see some kind of animation or CGI short of it tbh... would be dope as Hell

They never expected that those small and cowardly fuckers could do anything but when they rebelled and started to carry fuel rod guns on their shoulders and with the amount they had, even Elites were pushed thin. Only way for covenant to stop that rebellion was to almost completely glass grunts home planet and make rest of them to watch as it happened. But from that day onward grunts were given a small amount of respect and taken into the covenant military as a lowest ranking troops because elites saw their ferocity and effectiveness in large numbers. But yeah, that was mostly only internal conflict inside The Covenant and they have never (as far as we know) had full scale war with other species but mostly conflicts before other species joining the covenant.

The amount of firepower each covenant ship can dish out toward the enemy is just too overwhelming the bigger the ship the multitude of turrets it has both large and small, from Pulse Laser Turret which not only highly rapid fire rate there is also a Plasma Lance an interrupted beam of plasma hitting and melting enemy ships armor and guided Plasma Torpedoes. Covenant used Nanolaminate for their Hull Armor which is very advance, durable, and strong comparable to UNSC Infinity Titanium A3 Armor. If a Star Destroyer faces off with a Battlecruiser the amount of firepower, precision, and long-range engagement of Covenant Ships will simply outclass any Star Destroyer because all Covenant ships have AI that helps them automate most ships' functions and targeting systems although Covenant AI's are not as smart as Human AI still it simply outclasses a Star Destroyer Manual controlled ship which is highly unreliable and highly inaccurate in long-range engagements.
That's just plain fanatism, an Imperial-1 Star destroyer had a range of 10 light minutes, more than enough to evenly match the Covenant battlecruiser, and the AI accuracy doesn't really matter if both targets are so big that even a drunk gunner could hit them, not to mention the shields of the Covenant warship would be weak to turbolasers since they are a mix of particle and plasma projectiles, and ion cannons would just invalidate any automatic system and shield of any ship they hit, both kinds of weapons being ABUNDANT on a star destroyer, whose task is to face and destroy other capital ships. One advantage I could give is in the fighter numerical superiority, and even then, it doesn't guarantee the victory for the Covenant. The shields of the star destroyer also would withstand the torpedoes of the covies, since unlike Star Wars's plasma torpedoes, those are not dedicated anti-shield ordinances, and if a TIE bomber squadron manages to hit a Covie battlecruiser with those, it would be game over. And sure, the Covenant's ship hulls are extremely durable... but not against something that has the raw power of a nuclear weapon, and turbolásers have such power, there's a reason nukes are not used in Star Wars anymore (besides the threat of radiation)

when i see this, more than 4 mac required to desactivate the ernergy shield on carriers, if this exist; time is short to develop. it feel very anchored only 100 yrs before the real orion project
Does anyone know how to fix the mod? Basically the devs did an update a year ago, it made the mod be literally unplayable, you couldn’t even select it and they ignored everyone asking for it to be fixed or undone.
@@JustSomeWeirdo Mod was never updated, since it was uploaded to Steam workshop in 2015. HWR Collection is up to date, obviously. The problem must be with the HWR Launcher. Try to launch it with administrative rights and Windows 7 compability. Try the same with Homeworld2.exe. Try usnsubscribe from all mods, clear the game folder and reinstall HWR Collection and then mods. What graphics card you have? Sometimes HWR chooses to run on the integrated GPU which leads to crashing. Also it doesn't realy works well with ATI cards (like most games).
It's no wonder why the UNSC never developed plasma based weapons on their ships yes rail guns do work but they should've developed plasma weapons and shields to protect their important assets so they can stay in the fight for long

@@RicardoPerez-rz8pu The covenant was way more advanced in weaponry and technology. Some ONI ships had cloaking abilities but nothing compared to the covenant. The UNSC did not need these weapons and technology before the covenant because they were just fighting rebels not Aliens that had sheilds and plasma based weaponry. The UNSC tried to build these things during the war but it is difficult to build such things with the enemy knocking on the door.

By the 2500’s humanity was only fighting other humans, the Insurrectionist’s with their own tech there was no greater threat so no need to develop anything other than better Titanium plating for ship hulls. And even so scientists weren’t at the level to figure out reasonable shield technology until the reveal of the Covenant and Forerunners

The UNSC infinity is significantly more powerful than most covenant ships. The suite of super MAC cannons it was armed with could one shot any covenant ship smaller than the unyielding hierophant or Long Night of Solace. The problem is dead time in between MAC shots, the Infinity's shields simply could not sustain the amount of plasma lances the Covenant could throw at it in that time. Too many covenant ships.

I just launched it and tested Skirmish and Firefight mode on two different maps. Everything works.

They did the UNSC infinity was the first to be outfitted with a shield and more advanced rail gun.

@scorch0017 is homefront moddb version for Homeworld remastered collection steam or GOG version? Or both?
Moddb release was for disk version, but I think it's compatible with others. For steam version you can install this mod through workshop.

Not that smoothly as you can think, but since HW2 can't into multithreading, then you need a CPU with high performance per core
