- Donald Trump filed a defamation lawsuit against ABC News and George Stephanopoulos due to an explosive interview with South Carolina congresswoman Nancy Mace. Mace, a rape survivor, pushed back when Stephanopoulos insisted that Trump had been found liable for rape in the E. Jean Carroll civil case. In a complaint, Trump’s attorney wrote, “The jury expressly found that Trump did not commit rape.” Inside Edition Ann Mercogliano has more.

George Stephanopoulos used the same language as a federal judge. Taking reliance of language from a federal judge is a rock solid defense against libel. Trump is trying to weaponize this to prevent others from calling him a rapist.

The judge was careful to say that though it wasn't technically legally rape by NY State law, because EJC was unsure there was penile penetration, the assault was what anyone in casual conversation would call rape. George Stephanopoulos used the same language as a federal judge. Taking reliance of language from a federal judge is a rock solid defense against libel. Trump is trying to weaponize this to prevent others from calling him a rapist.
