  • I built a CRF230F to go endurance racing after feeling how much potential it had. I modified it mildly and raced it at the 2022 Glen Helen 24 Hour Endurance Race. Had tons of fun, and this video goes over what happened.

I've been ordering parts from RM for a very long time. Many years. Even though they are the biggest game in town, they have maintained their very excellent level of service even for small niggles that sometimes occur with orders. On top of that, they seem to give a rats ass about their customers north of the 49th. I have 2 excellent companies that I can rely on when the local dealer can't get me what I need. Fortnine in Canada, and Rocky Mountain. I'm rarely in a bind for parts or accessories. They are both great companies in my opinion and a model for what a company that serves enthusiasts should look like.

The crf230F is actually a pretty suprising plateform. In 2012, this was my second dirtbike. Coming from an 1986 XR80R this was quite the difference. Nonethelessm I had put in it a high compression wiseco piston, a hot cam stage 2 and a ovesized carb. The 230F was pretty spicy for its age. A 2004 model. Glad to see you enjoy them to this day.

I literally just came moments away from buying one of these but the upgraded 250f. Instead I bought a clapped out crf250x with high maintenance and prone to failure. Sure it is more capable but at the cost I don't see it as worth it. Taking a big loss, but here I am selling the 250x a day after buying it (wasn't told it needed a full rebuild as it was prewarmed before I got there). So I'm getting the 2023 250f. It's an amazing bike and has some limitations but that air cooled engine is worth it's weight in gold.

That man works wonders on those flimsy little forks, but, what exactly did you do to get those KYB forks on there? and exactly what kind of KYB forks and triple clamp is it youre running? Ive tried XR250 forks on the stock shock (tuned by helbo bros) with a different link that was supposed to raise the rear ride height... that rode like dog shit, choppered the fuck out, carolina squat, etc. I would love to get some full size cartridge forks on it though, so spill the beans (please). Im also running a PWK28mm carb, some webb cam cant remember which exactly, wiseco high comp piston, and converted to rear disc brake(pain). Wouldn't have done any of it if it weren't for your build series though, so thanks!
