  • We will replace the fork seals in a 2005 Honda CRF230F dirt bike. We will be using Honda Fork Seals and SS8 fork oil. This is a great little play bike and I use it to ride off road and trail ride.
    Front suspension rebuild.

    This is such a great and informative video! I used this for my completely different bike (KLX230r) since the part number for forks seals are the same. I was looking for so long to figure out which direction the fork seals go and you explained it perfectly. Way better than the video I was watching that was for my specific bike lol

    Hey man. Great video. Really helped me understand what I would do and need for this job. Watched your other bid on the linkage. That was also good. Good camera angles and sound.
    I just bought a 230. So looking to do all the necessary maintenance so it lasts. And I actually know it’s done.
    Your vids really help. Keep them coming on maintenance that you think this bike needs.

    This was great. Thanks so much. I didn't have that tool, so I used a piece o0f 1.5 inch PVC and a 1.5 inch by 1.25 inch PVC adapter to drive my seals. Also on my 2003 CRF 230F my springs were progressive, and also the washer that holds in the metal busing came out with the flat side up so I put it back in the same way.

    What brand of seal driver is that and where did you purchase it? Looks to be adjustable to various sizes, which would be nice versus having to have multiple drivers for different diameter forks. Thanks, great video.

      Probably you will only need the fork seals and oil. I got mine from Donnell's Motorcycles in Independence, MO. Donnellsmotorcycles.com Thank you for watching.

    So the only special tool that you used was the seal thing, correct? No spring compressor or anything?

    • @RaymoreRepair
      @RaymoreRepair  2 года назад

      That is correct you will not need a spring compressor on these forks. These are not complicated forks like the motocross bikes use. Thanks for watching.

    Where do you find the torque specs and oil amount?

    • @RaymoreRepair
      @RaymoreRepair  2 года назад

      I have a Honda Spec Manual that covers several years which you can purchase. I am betting if you dig around on the Googler you can find them. The CRF230 holds 380 cc's of Honda SS8 fork oil per side. SS8 is 10 weight fork oil.

      Not sure but if you look at the seal it'll be the same as the inner diameter of the fork seal. Thank you for watching.

      If you mean the bolt on the bottom of the fork.... Honda and the aftermarket make a special tool to hold the inner part to make it easier to remove the bolt. Thanks for watching.
