I've been waiting for a video for about two months, hell yeah. You are my mentor and my inspiration in everything related to dirtbikes. Greetings from Argentina 🇦🇷
I'm from Mexico, that model has been here since '16 I think, I have an '18 and use it to basically "do cardio" on super tight technically single track on flat surfaces (I also own a crf450x and crf250x for competing or serious stuff) It seems like the frame is the same as the crf230f, xr250, xr300E, so I bought crf230f forks, swing arm and rims, just looking for a monoshock to complete the transformation, I have installed a xr190 cylinder on there and switched out the carb for a bigger one, I got a huge increase in power at the bottom end, clutch used to clank when riding on sand, now it just tracktors through easily, this is SUCH A FUN BIKE and it's practically bullet proof, and I know whatever happens to it, it'll be an inexpensive fix. I think this has been the most reliable and funnest bike I've ever owned. Anyway good luck on your project, I'll be checking out your updates to see the end result 🤙🏽
I can not wait to see this little Honda come together ! I am just back from riding a Beta 125 RR four cycle in the Maine woods. Mini Bikes are just fun .
the Carb... measure the inside Dia of the intake Valve seat, subtract a mm and go for a slide that size. Mikuni is always going to be my personal Favourite, but they are what I learnt on for bike carbs. The Cam... I don't know the engine well enough to give numbers, I've doubled output before, in fact I've gone beyond that. and the Valve springs are over twice as hard as the factory ones... Don't go that far, just double that figure & find a cam that needs springs that rate. don't forget to upgrade the Valves if you can, & retainers... most important that the springs stay attached to the valve stem
Cut your stock spark arrestor about 3/4" from the flat mounting plate (on the inside where the taper stops). This will expose some packing material which I left in as well as the inner chamber "pipe") it flows really well and it's still fairly quiet also. I wouldn't mess with the cylinder heads exhaust port or grind the weld down at the inlet of the J-tube/exhaust as this will cause high rpm reversion (ask me how I know) 😂 Good luck! 👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you for your advice!! I bought a 70mm forged piston from SXParts and their 36/31 Big Valve Head and now my XR150L breathes 🔥 and can do 75mph with stock gearing. It can now power wheelie whereas before I had a hard time clutch-upping. I definitely recommend a big valve head.
Jfg racing makes a good full exhaust I have on my cg300 build in a 79 xl125 frame. It’s a crf230 /crf150 stainless steel exhaust. It sounds great and was only like $125. I have a buddy that’s running it on his xr150l and the fitment was good.
I already did this build just finished it with quality parts. All plug and play big valve racing cams springs and more nickle plated. I have 11.1 I bought the $1200 and it's worth it. Ported head Ceramic block.
@DustySteel probably easier to find a 200cc head from an xl200 or something then work from there. Heat is always going to be the issue with an air cooled engine. Isn't there an XR250L tornado that looks just like this bike anyway.
@@douglasgholson4835 yeah, they look identical. I just got installing a 222cc BBK stage 3 cam and the SXParts big valve head 36/31 and now it shoots flames!!🔥 😁👍

@@DustySteel It is a little, but seems to be fairly minor. I believe it's leaking more through the drain bolt than it's burning it. When I did my first oil change at 600 miles, I think I dropped the crush washer in the oil and lost it lol. I'll be making an update video/walk around video on the bike relatively soon.
@@smileyguyz thank you for the subscribe.👍 I bet you could just recheck where your pistons rings are and gap. Oh no! Luckily crush washers aren’t expensive. You can even get an oil cooler, for it. Obcource the xr150 isn't fuel injected, but the standard parts will work with a larger carb,as you stated, more than likely you will need a 1 tooth larger front sprocket,,because of all the extra power,, I doubled the power with the kit I installed.
