Rebound relationships are any that a person doesn't take the time to reflect, heal and grow after the end of their last relationship, before getting into the next one. They've convinced themselves its easier to simply start over, than it would be to put in the work to either fix the problem, or heal from the aftermath. Some people go their whole lives repeating this same cycle, carrying and trying to bury their baggage and hurt from one relationship, into the next and never grow as a person.
It's damaging for them and crushingly painful for the person they left. I'm feeling the effects of it right now with my current ex and its one of the most heart wrenching pains I've ever had the misfortune of experiencing.

I don’t think it’s a rebound if you take the time to fully heal. Say you wait a year, or two and really focus on yourself and improving who you are… you’re a new, healed person ready to start fresh.

My ex was with me for 20 years. Left me for someone who was popular , has money. Nice car, and her body done. It just me so bad and they still together. I admit he came back several times ( stupid me) , but he proposed right away to her and they still together . No sure if they married yet but it CRUSHED me. I’ve never cheated always stood loyal. He treats me like a stranger now. Can barely look at me sometimes . Just wow. Cold world. My self esteem is on zero. I try my hardest to snap out of the pain. How can someone stop the love aftER 20 years. Like does he not feel ANYTHING

One thing I don’t like about relationship coaches is when they recommend not taking an ex back, sometimes relationships are better the second time around

Not really I’m living proof that it’s not especially if the other person hasn’t changed their way’s that caused for you two to separate in the first place. It truly depends on the situation though I’m currently on probation and won’t be off until 2025 she started to realize that it will be a while until we could live life like normal I can’t go out for drink’s and do all the other stuff to have fun for a while she was supportive but I could tell it was starting to get to her the guy she’s married now doesn’t have a clue with what he’s dealing with…

Yup that’s me right now….me (F/A becoming secure) and my now ex (probably D/A) have been together for 31/2 years and where going to get married… I made a few mistakes financially in the last year and she started having an affair with someone at her work in the last few months. She says she can’t trust me. I have been having problems with my mental health at the same time and I was dumped at my lowest.. two weeks after the breakup she is in a new relationship with this guy and are now moving in with each other. The whole family group and I believe my ex is in rebound as the other guy is very different. She is definitely living in a fantasy world. As this other guy has just dumped his own fiencee at exactly the same time as my situation. He seems quite manipulative with people..
I love your turtle analogy as I am an F/A-secure and she is definitely a D/A love/ intimacy avoidant she drained me of emotion over time from living in her shell.
I have been learning so much about myself. I have always do and accepted that I made mistakes about things. I am learning some much right from the start of the breakup both about my depression (Cyclothymia) as well as my F/A traits and have started to become secure again.. I will be a much better person by the end of this journey.
My ex still wants to be friends and wanted to be reassured that I was ok when she told me about her ‘new relationship’ and I know that she needs to work on herself..it became a toxic relationship.
I will be better but currently I don’t want to have anything to do with my ex as she has made her bed in her ‘new green pastures’ and good luck to them….

All relationships are not rebounds IMHO. If every time a relationship ends you take time to work on yourself, heal and become a better version of yourself instead of immediately try to jump in a new relationship you’re not in a rebound.

Hey coach. I would really appreciate your insight in my situation. Me amd my ex broke up about 3 months ago and within a month she was with a new partner. In addition, she told me she had checked out of our relation months prior to the breakup but told me that she didnt meet her new boyfriend till after we broke up. The end of our relation was pretty toxic by both sides either way I still love her and would like to get back with her. Is this still a rebound and if so and they break up, os there still a chance for me and her to get back together? Thank you

My ex is going through midlife crises and monkey branched to a younger girl… They go to the club at least 2 times a week, he bought a Mercedes’ and dying his hair and it acting like a 20 yr old! We were together for 29 yrs, he is still emotionally connected to me and has texted or called almost everyday since we separated.. I went into no contact 45 days ago but now he FaceTime our 17 and 20 yr old everyday and I feel he’s just trying to still be in my space

Coach, cannot command you enough for all that you are doing.
I am actually in this same situation where my ex-girlfriend just got engaged with her new dude after 5 months after 7 years total and 5.5 years in relationship.
In my case there were many things like family dynamics, and her being a single mother.
She is beautiful and very smart. Has some great values as well. We broke up the 1st round on a silly argument. During that first breakup, we stay in contact throughout on and off, until she made the move to get back together.
Most of our issues revolved around engagement and marriage. After we got back, the first issue was marriage and engagement. For which I replied, financially I am not ready, you know my situation and know how hard I am working to get us a financially secured future. But no, she would not have it. Then it is the ultimatum to the point of begging to even just buy a any type of cheap ring. Mind you this a person I took to the store before to choose a ring. One of the most expensive there was her choice. Now she wants a cheap one. I told her that, it will not happen that way. If we do have any engagement or marriage ceremonies, it be as it is supposed to be done. No pressure, no ultimatum. We are both Africans.
Fast forward a make it short, we broke up after another silly argument again. I just lost it and went no contact. A month later she texted me that the relationship is not working, that if we could stay friends. I asked if she stays friends with all her exes. She replied that you are special. Then we just broke it off. On Valentines night she texte me “hope you and you new love having happy valentines”. I did not reply. 3 months later she post a picture of her engagement on her WhatsApp and also texted my brother that she has moved on. When my brother asked me I told him I saw the picture and that I wish her well and will pray for her. My brother said “huh”. I said yeah, I am paying for her. I can see her doing everything to make her new relationship work because she got engaged, something she was obsessed with.
My only regret is I loved her deeply and, and I did not make a journal throughout the relationship. I said this because, it have helped with pain post breakup. Il will clear you mind and put the breakup into right perspective.
It stung but I am not jumping into any relationship anytime soon let alone getting engaged.
