- This video shows the solution to an issue that people may run in to during windows installation with an Asus Z590 or Z690 board. The main issue lies in a setting within the bios that isn’t commonly talked about. Assuming you’ve already tried basic fixes like bios reset, list disk commands, sfc /scannow, intel RST rapid storage technology driver, etc. This takes little to no time and is worth a shot.

I turned on xmp and it automatically turned on vmd controller. I thought I fried my ssd
Interesting!
Is that why it happened to me? Even after a full reset the vmd controller was still on. Im so happy this fixed the issue
Words cannot express how thankful I am I was like seconds away from buying a new motherboard. Thank you 😭
I’m so happy to have helped!
my issue is the ssd nvme isnt even showing in the bios :(
I love how the RUclips algorithm found me after a few days since giving up. I had searched for multiple nights on how to fix a couple of my ssds that weren’t showing up in windows, not Partition-able, and only shown in bios. Now I stumble upon this random video with low view count and it fixes all my problems. Thanks for the fix man 😂
Bro thank you so much, i genuinely broke into tears after watching this, i just went out and bought a second ssd because of this issue and i’ve been having it for weeks i watched and read a shit ton of articles and videos but nothing and then you fixed in under a minute thank you so much 😭
dang after 2-3 hours researching and nothing, this video helped me big time, thank you so much!
Had a windows update destroy my ability to do any sort of windows recovery, so it shocked me when I got stuck at this point with a clean windows install. While I only struggled with this for a few hours your video was definitely a huge help! Not sure I would have resolved this on my own without the internet! Thanks!
Fucking love you man. All these other ppl spouting the same stuff on other videos. This was the real fix
Thank you so much man. I was struggling to figure out what was wrong. Literally the only fix I found for it after looking for 3 days. Life saver bro 😭
Nice video mate, I've been searching the Web all day and couldn't find a fix. This has sorted it straight away

omg, thank you ! just purchased. i9-13900k, ASUS TUF Z790 Plus and this setting was enabled by default as well. Thank you so much.
you have me & my computer !!
I'm novice/advanced as I been working/fixing computer since 1995. Didn't have time to check all the BIOS settings but these new system & configurations are getting ridiculous.
I read somewhere to disable the VMD but I could not find it as I have ASUS Z790P until you showed me. I spent 3 hours trying to figure out why my BIOS & system won't detect nvme, thus unable to do clean windows install.
Your method worked! Thank you so much.
Dude all afternoon trying "solutions" and nothing worked until i watched this video this did it THANKS bro
