Hi DeadCertainty, May I have the model name of your motherboard, the bios version and more details about the question? What is the issue and how does it occur again?
Hi @@azaelgarza1871 Do you mean there are no hard drive and windows USB drive in the storage information, boot menu or boot option? Did it occur after any settings or components changed?
@@asus_support Hi asus, I installed today a crucial p5 1tb 2280 m.2 nvme ssd, but for some reason, it's just not detected. Yes i have installed it in the proper m.2 slot, pcie3, nothing, tried removing all the sata drives connected, nothing, CSM mode is enabled, secure boot is disabled. PCIe mode just won't show up, and on nvme devices it just shows "no nvme devices found". I read some guides around and a guy was saying: if windows doesn't put a EFI boot sector partition, the nvme won't be visible".But how do i even try to put a UEFI partition on there if the drive it's not even visible? Yes the BIOS is updated too. Weird thing tho, it gets heated up like i'm reading/writing from there. CPU is i7-10700. motherboard: rog strix B560-F so i excluded pcie4 because of my CPU. it only displays SATA and AHCI, nvme "devices not found". Can't access PCIe modes as well. in PCH storage config, no M.2 option is displayed, nor the M.2 & SATA mode option.
Hi @@fab_81 Is the motherboard ROG STRIX B560-F GAMING WIFI and the bios version 1017? Do you install the m.2 nvme ssd in M.2_1, M.2_2 or M.2_3 slot? All of them are not detected? Have you restored bios to default settings and tried other m.2 nvme ssd?
This video had multiple steps/solutions to the problem. My personal issue was fixed when I enabled the CSM setting in the BIOS. More helpful than I was expecting considering every person has unique issues with computers
For anyone with a B450-M, when you have an M2 installed, SATA ports 5 and 6 are not available anymore (the 2 SATA ports on the side). Try another SATA port at the bottom. In my case the port 3 was not working so I had to use the port 4 instead. Enjoy 😉
@@cinerod Your welcome! I struggled and searched for hours to make the motherboard working with an M.2 and a SSD - I thought the mobo was defective. So I wanted to share this solution to help other people!
thank you was looking for a fix for 30 mins and went to youtube comments and found one. kinda dumb that the sata ports disable was wondering why my ssd with OS wasnt being detected. (b350 mobo)
For anyone with a b550-f gaming wifi, if you have m.2 in your build, you should plug in the sata ports in the top ones, or at least don’t use the bottom ones, its a little more specific but it could help you deduce your problem a little quicker, ;)
Thank you- updated my bios on my b550i board and couldn’t get the drives into the bootable menu. Fixed my problem- have saved this video for future updates .
Very nice and glad to see you're still answering people. Let's see at what depth you can go. I own an ASUS Z170-A i bought in 2015 and a Western Digital WDS256G1X0C-00ENX0 M2 SSD NVMe disk. The BIOS version model is 3802 which is the very last from 2018/04/27. Absolutely nothing related to NVMe disk on the EZ BIOS panel. It states only about SATA Information. Neither there's any setting for NVMe in advanced mode. I really never could get reliable explanations back in the years on ASUS forums. And i finally ended up with this settings into Advanced\Onboard Devices Configuration : [M.2] SATA mode will be switched to M.2. SATA Express can only support PCIE devices [SATA EXpress] SATA mode will be switched to SATA Express. M.2 can only support PCIE devices. I've selected [SATA EXpress] and the disk works using this setting. But since this time, I never been able to figure out if it's the good setting and moreover, why this ASUS Z170-A motherboard using a BIOS version 3802 do not display anything related to NVMe devices... Please have you any answer? Best regards and thank you.
Hi Kemoi Même, I'm afraid for the old models (ex: TUF B450-PLUS GAMING), which use PCIE Mode M.2 SSD(including: NVME M.2), information of hard disk or SSD doesn't show in Storage Information in BIOS EZ Mode due to the framework of the BIOS.
@@asus_support Thank you for answering, i really appreciated. But in the case of "older" motherboards, what is the correct setting in BIOS when adding an M2 NVMe drive? Since 2015, ASUS hasn't made it clear on this matter. You could also have done a little BIOS update for your "old" customers. Without any nastiness, that's a bit of what we can blame you for, lack of clarity and lack of updates. And that's so sad, because I'm not sure you understand. Thank you again and have a good day.
This guide finally put my 12-hour journey of replacing my motherboard, cpu, and psu to rest. Nothing was working and my ssd + hdd weren't being detected in the bios. I replaced the sata cable for my hdd, followed the steps up to enabling the CMS, and it worked! Thank you so much!!!
Omg that enabling CSM fixed it for me. I. Was so scared i would not be able to boot my computer again after switching motherboard and other components!
this was a great help. I updated the bios on my ASUS TUF gaming B550 m-Plus and suddenly its drives could be seen, but not used. I followed your quick and easy instructions starting @2:01 to enable CSM in BIOS Settings and it fixed the problem without me having to do anything else. Thanks for the video.
@@ninefame803 They should work just fine out of the box. it was just a really odd situation that I encountered, and I suspect not the norm. That was 9 months ago now. The mainboard's internal software has also had a lot of time to mature, and should already come with an updated bios's (there have been a couple of updated bios's since I got mine). That said, if you encounter the same problem, you already know how to fix it 🙂
Going to add my fix here just in case. I saw another comment that pointed out that if you use an M.2 drive in the slot under the cover, you can't use the SATA ports on the right side of the mobo (I think it's SATA6). I moved my connections from there to the ones at the very bottom of the board, and it worked right away. I should have read the manual I guess!
Our disk is detected, but we cannot boot, since it is not listed in the boot menu, as shown at 4:29. Needless to say that it boots on other devices lightning fast, but not on our B560M-plus. Update: CSM helped much. Thank you for this tip !
I’m glad this video was here but my solution was simple and in my face the entire time. I keep forgetting that the drive will not show up at the top where the drives are. You have to go to where the drives are at the bottom page on disk management and scroll down then find drives that says “unallocated” and then right click and create a new simple volume.
Hi, according to your question, may I ask have you encounter any problem with the drive? Have you update the drive? What happens after you update the drive? Also, could you kindly provide the product model and OS version? Thank you.
My SSD in the M2.2 slot has a heat sink and it‘s therefore less flexibel. I had to try different angles until it was recognized because it is installed on the back of my motherboard. Currently trying to resolve this for the better part of 2 days, read up on all the info i can find, now i am even here and still all i see it do is use the gpu-card boot a new ssd sees it in the ezmode but not as a used disc anymore for some reason. i did not do a re install on it. Have a secondary ssd that i wanted to use to see what i lost on my hdd drive so i make sure i have not lost all on the ssd or have. Other SSD starts installing windows, windows asks system to reb oot so it can complete installment. Makes the windows go again in a bootloop. Did everything by the book and more, still am stuck.
Hi David Wilson, Do you mean you tried installing windows in the new ssd, but it stuck at bootloop? Did it occur after installed the new graphics card and the ssd? Have you tried installing windows in the old ssd?
@@asus_support I meant to update this, it was seemingly so that the rct for ssd had to be disabled to make them show to the mainboard as bootable. I disabled both of these for the onboard attachment for ssd cards and it booted the windows i already had right up. Took me a view days catching up on that, but in the end i now know what the bios is like actually. I was more used to the older Bios types, which were quicker easier and not so prong for more questions. @@asus_support Seems i still have some other thing going on which i might suspect that it has to do with my tv-monitor. Somehow i end up with some sort of peak voltage moment of some sort and it turns of the whole pc. System doesn´t show me anything what might have caused it. My AMD card used to warn me and stated it had to reset values be default. But NVIDIA doesn´t even sqeeuk about it. Don´t think my Samsung can handle the graphics that either AMD or NVIDIA tries to serve on the dish. Not with what i have, that seems to do with the refresh rate and frequency support is under par. So essentially it is either this what i wrote, or a much more serious problem i have.
Hi David Wilson, If you mean CSM, it is disabled by default, if the ssd not shows up, we suggest enable CSM for the compatibility. For other feedback, it seems tv is not like normal monitors, could you please use normal monitors to check again? Thank you.
@@asus_support checked this on a 100hrz monitor, seems to do the shut down the same way. I play a simple game not to graphically involved, as soon as i load up (32bit) to another instance it shuts the pc down. I am going to re-install windows (was planning to do this when i had some other upgrades i wanted. have bought another ssd, going to pair them and put windows on it a new) will update how that went.

And i finally ended up with this settings into Advanced\Onboard Devices Configuration :
[M.2] SATA mode will be switched to M.2. SATA Express can only support PCIE devices
[SATA EXpress] SATA mode will be switched to SATA Express.
Hi
Kemoi Même,
I'm afraid for the old models (ex: TUF B450-PLUS GAMING), which use PCIE Mode M.2 SSD(including: NVME M.2), information of hard disk or SSD doesn't show in Storage Information in BIOS EZ Mode due to the framework of the BIOS.

I’m glad this video was here but my solution was simple and in my face the entire time. I keep forgetting that the drive will not show up at the top where the drives are. You have to go to where the drives are at the bottom page on disk management and scroll down then find drives that says “unallocated” and then right click and create a new simple volume.
So much trouble to attach a new drive. What a shame.

What happens after you update the drive?
Also, could you kindly provide the product model and OS version?

Brand new b650 tomahawk with old SATA SSD installed (ssd is working, just unplugged it from old pc), not being detected in Bios or boot priority. Tried different ports, tried updating bios. Nothing worked. Please help!

I have a question, I currently have a ryzen 5 5600x and Asus B550 Mobo, and I am currently facing an issue. The issue is as follows, my computer will randomly restart for seemingly no reason, and in the event viewer, it shows two errors, one critical that being kernel-power (event ID 41). The other is WHEA-Logger (event ID 18), and these will always show after one of these restarts. I'm out of ideas on how to fix it, and I'm thinking about switching to an Intel build at this rate.
Hi, according to your question, faulty hardware may cause these errors.
Have you update all the hardware drivers?
Have you check the power supply? Make sure you power supply fan is working correctly.
Check the fan on your CPU to make sure it is properly attached to the CPU.
If you have overclocked your CPU, it is suggest that you reset your settings to the default settings. Thank you.
@@asus_support I have updated all of the drivers, those being the Bios, chipset and GPU drivers. Am I missing any?
Also I have changed out the power supply to newer replacement but messages still persist, I will be taking the computer apart on Friday so I will have a look inside whilst turning it on to check the fans. Is there anything I should look out for (other than fans not moving). Also when you say is the fan on my CPU attached properly, do you mean make sure it's not too tight or loose?
Thanks in advance for info.
