  • How to Fix No Bootable Device Not Found
Today we will take a look at how to troubleshoot and fix no bootable device found. There are many reasons for boot device not found and we will do step by step to diagnose no bootable device.
    1. Remove any USB devices apart from Mouse and Keyboard
    2. Check system date and time
    3. Check CMOS battery and replace it if needed.
    4. Is the drive visible in BIOS?
    5. Change setting to UEFI or CSM Or Legacy
    6. Disable Secure Boot
    7. Reseat M.2 Drive or check cables on Hard Drive and SSD, also unplug them and plug them back or change connector
    8. Reinstall Windows, I know it’s a pain, but it could be a windows problem.
    9. Check to see if drive is bad. CrystalDiskInfo and Western Digital Data Lifeguard Tools can be used to check drive, if bad sectors or errors, replace drive.

I upgraded my graphics card however when I turned the PC on I got stuck on the BIOS screen with no bootable drive found even though the system was reading my hard drives. Spent an hour reviewing half dozen videos with no luck. I then changed my search terms and watched your video. My CSM was disabled; after enabling it I was able to boot into Windows. Thank you! Your video was easy to understand and saved me a trip to the local PC repair shop. Thanks again and Happy New Year!

Like some of the comments mentioned already: if you are trying to breathe life into your PC after changing the Motherboard and CPU, most likely none of thesteps mentioned in the video will help: you will need to reinstall windows. It is really frustrating (instead of just buying another key and keeping your settings, you need to reinstall the whole 9 yards), but that is apparently how things now work. Just my experience.

    Great video as always.
In my last install at an new mother board, my old SSD would not boot up.
I had to clean the SSD, and then install win10 again. And now it works.
Normally win 10 makes two drives at a fresh install, but now it was 3 drives!
But now it works. Strange with this chance.

I had such problem with an SSD I put on my daughter's PC, after checking everything I could, the fix was to wiggle the SATA wires a bit, and those have the click mechanism so they were properly connected. Not sure if the wire is faulty but after doing it, all worked fine. Have seen the same thing in a few machines, seems like poor contact.

I had this exact problem, but non of the suggested fixes worked for me.
Well, there was one option left and that was to reinstall windows 10. But before I would do that I thought about reinstalling my bios version.
    That fixed it!
So if nothing works of the suggested fixes in this fine video then reinstall the bios or update it if a new version is out.
At least it worked for me and am I happy af it did, because I used hours trying to fix this problem.
The catalyst for the problem was me setting resizable bar up in bios. That gave me the black screen doing boot up. But because I forgot to disable fast boot in bios or in Win 10 software I could not get in to Win 10 or in to bios. So I cleared CMOS and then my problems started.
    Cheers

When enabling CSM support and restarting I saw the windows logo but then it disappeared and got a black screen after. What went wrong?

I'm just passing my storage from my previous build to my new one, it recognizes exactly what my SSD with windows is, everything is properly plugged in, but it doesn't detect it as a bootable drive, please help

Thank you, the CMS switch helped, after that when loading into windows, i pressed F11 and it got me into boot setup, in there there was a wrong drive selected, so I switched to my boot drive and it works now

Good video for less IT savvy folks. I've found that most times it's not usually the BIOS that is the issue, but you can't eliminate it as it does happen. Rebuilding the BCD with diskpart usually fixes the problem unless there is a hardware fault with the disk.

What steps did you take? The furthest I’ve gotten with no luck yet is I can only boot into windows recovery and bios at most but no boot options. Ran bootrec /rebuildbcd and fix mbr commands but can’t run the bootrec fix boot command access is denied
