There is one thing missing from this video. ASUS has done a rather dumb thing! My son just installed an ASUS TUF Gaming Z690-Plus WiFi D4 ATX Gaming Motherboard (with Intel core I7 12 Gen). Everything installed ok, except the BIOS could no longer see a "Boot Device". (We panicked!) To cut a long story short, we discovered a setting called "Compatibility Service Module". This option is defaulted to "Off", which tells BIOS to look for a boot device that's on a M2 drive. So, if you run into the above issue after installing a new MB and your boot device is a standard SSD / Hard drive you MUST change this setting. (Why the bios is not smart enough to check all drives for a boot sector is baffling to me).
Best Men! This Help me so much!

Just got an i7 10700k and an ASUS Z490 and had some older drives. My BIOS is newer so it wasn’t exactly like this, but this still gave me some pointers on where to look and after switching one option from UEFI to Legacy, I was up and running. Thanks for everything.

fantastic advice, well set out. fixed the problem after 3 weeks of trying multiple solutions, turned I need to reset the uefi every time I start up as an internal device somehow keeps confusing the asus motherboard. fantastic. keep up the great videos.
Thank you, it helped me a lot: very frustrating, I switched by mistake to Secure Boot (didn't know what that is), and it would boot my Windows 7 CD/DVD drive, and I had no clue why. Now with your settings, Secure boot disabled, Lunch CSM enabled and Lunch PXE Oprom policy enabled. I was able to boot.

Subscribed! I'm having the issue of no boot device found but on my desk top. I just added a m.2 ssd and reset my bios to default settings. After the reset the computer recognizes both drives but neither of them show up in the boot menu or boot options/order
Did you solve this, suddenly this is happening to me 2.
You have an amazing talent of instruction - so easy to follow and you never waver from your passion. I hope you make boatloads of cash from your instructional vids.
You saved my laptop yesterday! Get this ... I had to do TWO of your tips.
First - I reseated the hard drive. That allowed me to boot in (I had kept getting the dang Reboot/removable media device message) but then it froze again after about 3 minutes.
So, I hit F2 and got into the BIOS and set the UEFI Boot to DISABLED (I left the second option untouched).
Voilà! I proceeded to use my laptop for 5 hours, with several reboots, and it ran like a charm. And it ran beautifully this morning for an hour. Thank you!
No need to reply but I am awfully curious, why did I need to do the second tweak? What does that tell the OS to do? Obviously, it's a big tweak behind the scenes, but why did I have to do it and why did it fix the issue? What 'happened' to my hardware that forced me to do that?
Thanks again!
Glad your all set :) Most likely there was a power loss to BIOS which caused those settings to be reset / changed. That prevented BIOS from starting up normally and so prevented the operating system from doing the same. Not a big deal unless it happens again and again :)
I messed up doing something to my BIOS. Luckily I didn’t do anything permanent, but your video walked me through fixing it. I almost lost a couple days worth of work. It’s all backed up now but wow. You saved me. Thank you.

I want to thank you for your help/video. I changed the boot settings to legacy only and it worked. Thanks so much! I had replaced the motherboard, ram, hard drive, etc.... Just a few months ago so I didn't understand how it could give me the error, no bootable drives. We lose power frequently here in Puerto Rico so I attributed it to that. Recently when I turn on my computer I've been getting messages that Windows is fixing my PC and it takes sometimes up to 30 minutes before it's done. It did that yesterday before it booted into the BIOS. Initially it showed the two hard drives that I have installed with a warning that drive failure was imminent. It told me to back up my work but I couldn't do it because it wouldn't boot into windows. Next time I booted it didn't show the drives on the boot menu. But they still showed up as storage devices. Your video saved me from buying a new hard drive. Thank you so much

Okay so I changed from a gigabyte oem board to a prime z390-a yesterday, and my pc wouldn't get past bios. I tried turning on csm and everything, even tried using a boot stick, nothing worked. What I did, which worked, was changing changing everything that said uefi to legacy and vice versa in the csm menu. My pc has now booted up and is installing all the mobo drivers. If this helps even one of you, I'm more than happy. And of course thank you for the great video, it really helped!
You got my like. I just upgraded the mobo in my desktop to a Asus ROG Strix Z690 and it wouldn’t detect my older nvme drive to boot from. Changing to legacy mode did the trick. Just now, I fixed my Laptop. It all started when I got an unexpected restart and I got that "Repairing disk Error" screen. I left it on for at least 12 hours until I knew something was wrong. Followed through your videos and thought it was the OS system error. But as soon as the installation from my flashdrive stopped mid-way and refuse to delete the disk space, it was a failed HDD. Eventually, I got a replacement and it works fine but lost my 2-year data. Gonna buy an External Hard Drive next. Thanks for posting this!!!
