I use the pine ridge limb legs and lean on my 10 or 12" front stabilizer. Shooting with them on I see no difference with field point, fixed or mechanical broadheads to 40 yards. Shooting a PSE Omen EC2. Makes ground hunting whitetail a little more forgiving.

As far as the broadhead tests...do NOT use ballistic gel...it's an "unfair" medium to use ESPECIALLY for mechanicals and blades doing odd things that would NOT happen when going through an animal's chest cavity. The ONLY thing gel shows is a wound channel. It's way too firm once a broadhead gets in there. Just my $.02

Yeah buddy, semi new to tinker archery. Just got a ss34,cbe trek pro 3v coming from 7 pin trophy ridge and a bear legit. At first I was basically shooting legit sight tape as I got scope pre bowtech by 2 days so legit we went. Anyway with minor adjustments I was bottomed out near 100yds and bumfuzzled as bowtech is faster for sure 420,430gn arrows ( mix bag) so fast and faster then bear. Figured it out fudging peep barely with bringing scope housing all the way in as well as a minor adjustment whr the 2nd and 3rd axis's/housing attachs to the slider now I'm shooting to 113 and confirmed to 80 with main pin and 3rd pin dialing. The hype on difference from budget bow to flagship or equal is very real as I was Killin it torque free, wiggle wobble reflex free it was glorious! 😂

I just got this thing for my prime RBX and it is not stable at all. Plus, I have a quiver on and it looks like it could fall over that direction easily. That back kickstand leg twists very easily and there’s no way to tighten it up. That’s mainly the problem. if I am on unlevel terrain, forget this thing, I am not impressed at all. For the price, this thing is going back to Amazon.

  • @jeremiahwoody4334

I think sharpness would be the first thing and how much it can retain. Accuracy at range using different vane configurations would be interesting I think (blazers v DCA v AAE). Basically a low mid and high surface area vane.
I wouldn’t do any kind of penetration test. Any test medium outside of a live game animal won’t be compatible and won’t really matter. A broadhead penetrating 1/2” more into gel means nothing.
I think a good long term video would be shooting a bunch of groups at 40-60yds with broadheads across a long period of time and have a recap video with the data and the process you took. Use a few different variations of mechanicals and fixed and compare. Could do the same thing with changing up the vanes as well and see what groups look like.

For broadheads to test I would like to see a long range flight test of the A2 single bevel broadhead(very similar to the old Anarchy1.25") and long range tests of other broadhead accuracy 100yds+. I'm not advocating to kill at those distances but if back up shots are needed its nice to know where broadheads hit.

I’d love to see broadhead tests that show more arrow flight in slow motion.
Lots of tests show final groups and stuff like that, however, most of them neglect to look at overall arrow travel from the bow to the target.
I’ve had some recent arrow setups that group well, but fly pretty horribly. (Kicking right but correcting back before hitting the target)
Good tear at a few feet from paper, but move that out enough to shoot thru a chrono and paper and suddenly the tear is off.
I’ve had pro shooters shoot that bow/arrow setup and saw the arrows kick right hard out the bow and bounce back.
Groups left at 40 right at 50 and hits center 30 and under.
Ended up being the bow so I got rid of it because I couldn’t tune the bow or arrows to correct it. New Mathews to the rescue as of last year haha.
Anyway, I know my arrows must have looked like trash mid-flight. I’d like to see how different fixed point heads will effect flight of a “standard” arrow setup.

Does the type of fletching help steer the broadhead? I'm curious if you find a broadhead you like and "test" different fletching's does that make a noticeable difference? A lot of guys buy factory fletched arrows and then have broadhead flight concerns. If during your testing you could try a factory fletched arrow vs a fletching that you cannot get from a OEM arrow. Thanks

  • @MrHunter2784

Try using that vibration scale and see which head transfers more energy into the target 4 blade vs 2 blade regardless of arrow weight, another words same arrow weight. I view it like a bullet, full metal jacket vs a soft or hollow point tip the 4 blade should transfer more energy into the target. This is why I don’t understand the point of building a heavy arrow just to put a 2 blade head on so all that extra KE is just passing right through 😂 Good luck! Great source for everything archery

Use a shooting machine to take out human error when testing broadhead flight vs field point.
Test penetration at different yard ranges. Elk range/ whitetail range
Develop a "minimum fletching needed to steer" rating for each broad head you test.
Slow motion footage to show blade deployment on mechanicals upon impact.

They need to make a piece on the cam leg the flips (or make a deeper groove the cam sits in with a slide bar) to go through the opening of the cam, keeping the cam from being able to lift up off the cam leg which would prevent the steeper curved limb bows from tilting forward when having a stabilizer attached

Sharpest broad heads out of the packaging given how important a sharp broached is for penetration above almost anything else. Maybe easiest to sharpen as well. More elaborate tests, how about deflection? Some of the expandable broadheads swivel or retract the blades if they partially hit something compared to others that are fixed and how that affects penetration.

Penetration difference between slight helical vs high helical. I believe higher helical causes a reduction in momentum/penetration because the rotation must stop in order for arrow to continue on its trajectory.
