good to know that putting the finger sling on the index or middle finger is just preference, I hqppen to like it more on the middle finger but never see anyone else doing that, so I thought it might be wrong in some way
I think the jerking/stiffening motion is due to archer being afraid that the sling slips out of the wrist or over the thumb. For me at least it feels like it just barely stays on the wrist and I have to do something about it -> stiff arm and pull hand upwards. Thanks for mentioning finger sling on middle finger, I tried it and liked it a lot more than index finger, but as others mentioned, no one else does it so I thought it might be wrong :D
Thanks for that. It would have been nice to see some slow motion video of how the bow was reacting in your hand, particularly when you spoke about the recurve shot sequence. Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much for this video I have been wondering which sling to use. Also, all of your barebow videos are great. There is not a lot of information on barebow out there, so it’s good to see videos from someone with so much experience.
I use a hybrid sling that stays attached to my wrist then loops round between my index and middle finger to my thumb. I find it so much more comfortable😊
I've ended up with a hybrid Wrist to Thumb Sling with my compound (when I want to shoot "seriously"), if I am "just shooting" especially field then I tend to use a wrist sling, but I am aware of some "sub optimal" shot issues with the bow attached wrist sling
i learned with a deficient finger sling then i invented my own solution i use a Columbia Shoe lace in a 8 shape : around my wrist and in front of the riser in the middle finger i don't use a clicker and when the string is on the nose and the sling makes a very small pression, then i know i'm stretched enough to 29,5" and i can release softly !
I am not inclined to use any sling when using a barebow. I seem to be able to control the forward motion of the bow by simply squeezing the handle between thumb and index fingers. Or am I just fooling myself?
My finger sling came loose around my thumb and slipped off. My bow went flying forward and hit the ground. My soul died for 40 mins. The bow was fine. Few marks. But man 🫠😮💨
I personally don't like the finger sling. Have been shooting a wrist sling that goes around the riser and hook up by my wrist. Adjustable length for convenience. Feels much more secure
Although I normally thoroughly enjoy your videos, this one struck me as being quite biased toward your personal preference. FYI, I shoot with a braided paracord wrist sling which is stiff enough that I can easily slide my hand into and out of it and when I allow the bow to roll forward after a shot, it does just as good a job of retaining the bow as a finger sling does. So, if you are going to make videos with the intention of educating archers, you should compare apples to apples and present us with unbiased information.

Well... If the finger sling resulting in the better groopping I'll definitely try it today. Thanks again Jake.

I do the same
They are the best of both worlds.

Interesting, I've never even heard of these, and definitely going to use one 👍🏻

What material are the strings you are using in the video made out of? They don't look like shoe lace, or am i mistaken?
Ah, ok, never mind. Wrote too soon 🙂

You are likely introducing torque that you are unaware of.
What arrows you use?

Any sling that makes your bow walk away from any shooting session is a good sling...
tq😎👍🏹🥇🇲🇾
Isn't it fun when you forget to put your finger sling on and the bow falls to the ground. Much amusement for your fellow archers.
Literally one day later....
