    Hello, beautiful humans! Just thought I’d give a disclaimer because a lot of people are “concerned” about how I used the Dyson Airwrap in this video. First, I wanna start off by saying, this video is EDITED to give you an overview of how my experience went. I continued trying to make this work for HOURS that day and weeks after filming.
    I tried the Dyson Airwrap on NUMEROUS occasions and actually filmed this video twice. I watched Dyson’s tutorial and followed along. I tried numerous tips from YT “gurus/experts” and it simply DID NOT PRODUCE the results that I LIKE. If you like YOUR hair puffy, or if this actually gets yours smooth, then this is great for you! If not, the Dyson Super Sonic is a better choice.
    I use the Dyson super sonic on medium heat and high airflow, just like my previous blow dryers and it does great. It produces a smooth blowout the way I like and prefer.
    There are a lot of people offended because I didn’t love their favorite product. EVERYTHING DOES NOT WORK THE SAME ON EVERYONE’S HAIR. Some things that work for me, may not work for you and vice versa. That’s ok! My dislike for this product doesn’t mean I dislike you personally as a human! 😊
    I give honest reviews and opinions! I will always share MY experience and how it went FOR ME! And FYI, I leave most negative comments, but if you think I’m gonna let you be exceptionally rude in my comment section, think again. I firmly believe in block and delete. Especially since I’ve done NOTHING to personally offend you. The real question is why are you SO worked up over a strangers review of a product you didn’t invent or manufacture? 🧐🤔
    Have a blessed day! Thank you for watching!! Thank you to all the comments, likes, and dislikes! I appreciate the engagement. I’m open to ALL CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM and video ideas/suggestions. 🖤🖤🖤

      The Dyson does not cause damage to your hair, even at the highest heat setting, so you should have used the highest setting. That is why it costs $550. This is not your $70 blow dryer. There was no need to be concerned about heat damage.

      I have 4c hair and the dyson airwrap works on my hair. I think its technique tbh. I use the paddle brush and the round brush and the curling attachments. Also the two heat settings shes talking about the highest heat setting is actually lower than other air brushes. So just because its the highest setting (150 degrees F) which she didnt use (she said she used the lower heat setting). I use the high setting after using the lower heat setting when my hair is already 50% dry and my hair comes out way straighter than hers and less pouffy. I bought my airwrap around the same time she did an dI used the lower heat setting like she did and my hair comes out like hers. So I think if she tried the highest heat setting and saw the manual Dyson claims they made this to not exceed 150 degrees for a reason. I never go the highest setting on other products but this one is gentler than other air dryers. Even the T3 dryer she says she likes more than this one on heat 4 setting is hotter than the airwrap

      Now I am confused. This video review confirmed my suspicion that this tool was not meant for 4c hair because none of the official reviews or demos showed real 4c models. I would hope that a product this expensive would work for everyone. But if it works for you and other naturals, I would be happy. I did notice that people with other hair textures struggled with the learning curve. I really appreciate this video. I still would love to see this work.

    I purchased the Dyson corrale after I saw your review. I have a Dyson airwrap and I love it. I use the smoothing attachment on high and I love it. I straighten with the corrale. I get great curls from the airwrap but its only after my hair is straightened with the corrale.. During the week if I'm heading out to dinner and need to curl my hair, I use the airwrap to curl my hair because it's less heat. I lightly spray my hair with heat protectant and get the best bouncy curls from my airwrap. I had before I purchased the corrale and I love them both. I dont like puffy curls so I only use the curl wands on my straitened hair for maintenance.

    I just want to say thank you. I went through about four other reviews of this model for what the reviewers said were 4c hair. I have true 4c hair and looking at their hair as they did the review, I kept saying their hair is a looser 4 texture, not 4c. Your hair looked like mine. I found your review and your hair mimicked mine. I was hesitant already because of the price, but for $600, I need my hair to be damn-near straight once I blow dry, and it's not giving from what I see from your review. Thank you for such an honest review.

      I’m so glad you love it and it works for you! The purpose of my review is for others with similar hair to mine. We know the product will work for your texture because it’s featured in all of their ads. The company used to claim that this same product could work for my texture. This video was to put those claims to the test so that other black women with type 4 hair could make a better informed decision about their purchase. Thanks for watching and engaging!

    Oh I’m sorry you didn’t love the airwrap!! I’ve used the Airwrap since it launched and I love it! I use it almost every day. I do not have a loose wave pattern and it works terrific in my textured hair. I also have the Dyson hair dryer and the Corrale, but I find I seldom use the regular dryer and use the Airwrap instead. Yes, it seems odd to use that mini air dryer before using whichever attachment you want. I either let my hair air dry until it’s about 80% dry or I use a paddle brush and the mini dryer to get to 80%. From there, I use the smooth brush attachment and finish with the round brush. The result is a beautiful blowout without the use of a flatiron. Now I prefer to flatiron because I like that look and I live in VA and humidity is not my friend😂
    Now the barrels require a different approach for our hair. I only use the barrels on dry hair and it works great! Even my white friends use it that way.
    I work out most days of the week and I use the Airwrap on cool to dry my hair and remove frizz. I can wash my hair, blow dry and style all within 30 minutes, not including flat ironing.

    • @TheTessaStewart
      @TheTessaStewart  3 года назад +7

      That’s great! I’m happy you love it. Yeah, I stated in the video that it’s great for the blown out look of that’s what you like. Personally, the blown out look is just not my vibe. I prefer my hair to be smooth and sleek if I’ve gone through the trouble of adding heat. I do like the Dyson supersonic dryer. I’m much quicker with a standard drier and paddle brush. Takes me 45 mins to from start to finish including the flatiron.

      It could be that your curl pattern is looser or your hair strands are finer. That could be one of the reasons for your success. But still even with relaxers some people's hair relaxes easily while others have a bit of a challenge relaxing theirs.

      Thanks! Def can understand the feeling. I definitely feel that way about this product. The flat iron features are pretty standard besides the cordless and “heat damage saving” technology to be honest. I think people are more so caught up on the price when the only physical difference they see is the cordless nature.

  • @leyley32291

    Yeah I figured it wouldn’t work on thick course natural hair. I’ve seen reviews a while ago on women with straighter hair texture having trouble with it but I think dyson knew the curling wand wasn’t that great n I think with the straightener they did way better job. Plus I’ve seen more great reviews from a lot of women of color or women with natural texture hair with the straightener than the curler.

    • @TheTessaStewart
      @TheTessaStewart  3 года назад +1

      I think it would work on coarse thick hair if its naturally straight or wavy. Like a coarse thick haired 2c (maybe 3a) girl might be the most texture it can handle. It’s just not powerful enough. I literally could hold my had against the blower for the blow drying attachment with no discomfort from the lack of heat. 😑🤷🏾‍♀️

    I’m late to the party. I’m an old lady. Due to stress I lost 3/4of my hair and wear wigs.
    But….I feel the need to comment because I’m still hair-obsessed…..
    My bio hair is as emotional as I am IRL! It’s tightly curled in some areas, looser on others, dry, coarse and porous.
    For decades. DECADES. My routine was this: once a week ( yes. Once because my hair was that dry) wash and deep-condition the hair. Rinse then apply heat protection product to my hair.
    Then.. wrap either end paper or tissues around rollers of various sizes from medium large to super-large and set my hair. Then wait about an hour to start blow drying.
    Blow dry each section smooth with a big brush in one hand and blow dryer ( con-air being my preference) . Then re-roll each dried section . When all is dried wait another hour for hair to settle to the roller pattern.
    Unroll. Depending upon the season-late fall through winter with no humidity, the hair looked great!
    Spring through early fall when it still gets humid, a messy bun while outside then indoors let it down.
    A lot of work? Sure! But a lot less expensive than any Dyson product,
    I’m older now. And over decades realized that products like this are made for hair that is not textured. At all. It’s for that head of hair that isn’t porous or tightly curled or very frizzy. It’s for Disney haired women.
    It’s best to use rollers, a regular blow dryer and a brush ( bristles that are plastic but won’t melt) . Looking at your video made me realize things in the hair industry really haven’t changed over decades. I’m headed to my wig closet now.
    Thank you for a great and detailed video. You are doing a tremendous service to all women with textured hair!!🥰🥰🥰🥰😔

    Textured hair needs a lot of tension to pull it straight while the heat locks the shape in semi-permanently (until the hair is re-wet). The air-wrap was never going to work on our hair bc it doesn't have the tension to get the hair sleek and the attachments are not designed to get close to the root.
    The brush with the hard bristles works best on textured hair bc it provides that tension. The airwrap might work better on wet hair that has been smoothed out with a boar brush before letting it wrap around the barrel.

My stepmom's hair is curly but it's pretty fine and thin so it works great for her. I wanted to see if any Black reviewers with type 4 hair had good results because then I'd know the problem was me, not the device! But I think my hair is just too coarse and curly for this. I need a flat iron (very small sections) to get the smooth results I like.

    I was having the same issue as you. I have 3c-4a curly hair. And what I have found is unfortunately there is no tool out there that exists that will ever straighten our hair without needing a flat iron to get a silk press look. . I still have my air wrap and what I use it for is I blow dry my hair using the firm smoothing brush, then I flatiron my hair at 365 and then I use my air wrap to curl my hair. So I’m still saving my hair from a lot of heat damage. When I use a normal blow dryer it takes me about 1 hr and 20 min cause I have super long hair. And then I still have to use my flatiron at 420. With the airwrap it takes me 20-25 min max. And my flatiron temperature went down a lot. So for me that’s worth it. But it’s definitely not for everyone. Everyone who had type 4 hair should not expect this tool to give them a silk press look, cause it’s unrealistic. At least IMO.

      Thank you for this review! I just bought the airwrap and I’m so torn because it’s not super straight and still has waves. I was thinking my next try to be the comb, my flat iron, then airwrap. I was wondering if I should buy and try Dysons flat iron or supersonic instead with the comb attachment, since it’s slightly cheaper. I’m so torn on this product, but you mentioning how it does save your hair from heat damage and using less heat on your flatiron makes it better

    • @julissabido
      @julissabido 2 года назад

      @@Lilangel0372 I think if you have type 4 hair the supersonic blow dryer is a better buy with the comb attachment. But the airwrap I find is also good for touch ups. For example, after I do my hair throughout the week if my hair gets frizzy I use the brush attachment and touch up my roots and if I want to curl my hair I use the curling attachments. If you can afford all three I would get it. Use the blow dryer and the comb attachment to blow dry your hair then use the flat iron and then use the airwrap to curl your hair and for touchups.

    The number 1 mistake you made was you had the blow dryer facing downward on the hair, that causes frizz, it should be facing SLANTED over the hair, that helps to smooth and straighten it. Second mistake was your hair wasn't wet enough, no matter how tight your coils are, natural hair should be blowdried on 80-90% wet hair, that way it's easier to manipulate with the heat. I heard hair stylist say it, hope this helps.
