The barrels can be used on wet or dry hair to curl. A lot of women dry their hair first with the brush (so that their roots are straight) and then they take a sprayer with water to spray 1/2 down the hair and curl the hair with the small barrel (tight curls) or large barrels (loose curls-beach curls). The longer your hair is the better, ok. Think of a portable roller-set. The barrels are the hard rollers and the machine is the hair dryer. But with Dyson everything is faster. I like the fact that I don't have to sit under a hot dryer anymore for 1 hours. Thanks.

Thanks for the review! I have had the Dyson Airwrap since it launched and I love it!! I have natural but very highlighted hair and this has been a game changer for me. I use the pre-styler to dry my hair to 70-80%, then use the smoothing brush to finish. I follow up with round brush to smooth my roots and it works well. I can dry and style my hair soooo much faster and with less heat. I actually use the barrels on dry hair because with textured hair, I don’t know how it will work. Even my friends who are White or Latina use it same way on dry hair and we have all found the curls last better.

The barrels are clockwise/ counter clockwise so you can curl away from your face! So you would use a different barrel for each side of your face. Thank you for your review :)

You probably already learned this, but the orange mat that came on top in the case is a heat pad to put the air wrap down on when using.

Thanks for posting this! I’ve been debating getting this. Do the curler attachments get hot to the touch? I’m worried about it burning my hair.
Your'e so welcome!! No it doesn't and it has various temperature and airflow control to suit your need. It was design to protect our hair from any possible heat damage. Trust me it's the best, I have to give their credit.

How is it with straightening the new growth roots?
It's alright. It's a bit bulky, to get it precise, but it helps make it straight enough to flat iron.
Thank you for your review. I have curly hair that is not relaxed. I blow out hair and then use a flat iron to get it bone straight. I can not dampen hair to curl as it will revert my natural curl pattern and give me frizzy curls. Can you recommend a hair dress cream or lotion to place on my hair that may repel water but will "dampen" hair so the dyson hot air on the air wrap will dry hair and set it? Yes on relaxed hair it looks gorgeous but when I do it I get a puffy look with curls that fall out...giving me a fuzzy frizzy poofy look. Lol. Help
