Drums - Brian Downey
Bass - Jonathon Noyce
Live @ The Point Theatre Dublin Aug 2005
I'm 70 years old. I didn't know Thin Lizzy. I didn't know Gary Moore. I just "discovered" them this year 2020. I like Thin Lizzy. I like Phil. I like all their guitarists and drummer, too. Gary is amazing here. Glad I found them all before I die. What talent from one band!
Brian Downey laying it down perfectly here. What an underrated drummer
One of the greatest drummers in rock .
One of my all time favourite drummers. From a drummer
Never underrated by drummers.
brian is unquestionably one of the top 10 greatest drummers of the hard rock scene ! only idiots and musically illiterates don't know mr downey !
Let's hear it for Brian Downey, the only member of Thin Lizzy who, as far as I've heard, has never, ever played at less than his absolute best, which is pretty damn good.
John Sykes
He's amazing
What about gary
Brian's playing always seems so right, it is easy for a guitarist to overlook its vital, driving importance and beauty. I am more aware of it these days. It sounds very powerful and "percussive", like he hits the kit really, really hard, a bit like an entire military drum band but a very fast one, charging into battle perhaps! :D He can play subtly too of course. God love him ;)
For my money he is one of the truly great rock drummers alongside Ian Paice and John Bonham, yet he doesn't get the recognition he deserves.
Glad we still got Scott...What a life he has led..An under rated constant in Lizzy..And amazing how a California boy fit in to so well with a staunchly Irish bad..Wish all this guys + Phil and Lizzy get elected into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
David: What an hilarious irony that the only American in Thin Lizzy was born on St. Patrick's Day.
When I hear the kids talk about U2 being the greatest Irish band I always refer them to Thin Lizzy and Phil, Gary, and Scott and I’m a Yank of Irish descent. Amazing how some don’t even know these great artists existed. U2 is great but a lot of smoke and mirrors. These guys were musicians.
@D Ebelt ...Most intelligent and informed comment I have ever read on You Tube. A great pity more people of your discerning judgment don´t exist in today´s world.
100% spot on you are my friend
i never liked that sanctimonious bono and their 3 chord tricks i think i should give them a few guitar lessons
Lizzy have always trumped U2 in my book !
Was and alwys will be a huge Lizzy Fan , ever since i became 13 years (50 years old now) , at the same became U2 fan , seen the greatest show ever on 17 in Rotterdam Joshua tree , If i had to choose it would be Lizzy but U2 has undenieble also been there
Gary Moore had it.....
And he had it in abundance.......
R.i.p Gary, I hope your having a few pints in heaven with Phil
Gary Moore was a guitar legend..
Absolutely awesome, if that doesn’t stir your emotions, lift your heart and get it racing, probably nothing else will! The excellent Brian Downey, Scott Gorham the ‘Celtic Californian’, and Gary Moore for whom there are not enough superlatives to describe his talent and musicality, all paying tribute to their legacy and that of the songwriting brilliance of Phil Lynott!
Great example of guitar harmonies. This is one of my favourite live songs. R.I.P Mr Moore.
if you listen close this is the music of the people of ireland and nothing more and it is great
yes
Apart from Shenandoah. That was because Scott's American. Gary absolutely kills during the Mason's Apron section...
That's as good as it can ever get. 2 of the greatest guitarists of my generation, not forgetting Brian Downey on drums.... Just doesn't get any better. Gary Moore is missed by millions...
Heard the news yesterday and was blown away, Gary was the soundtrack of my youth. Saw him in '87, '89, '90, '07 and was delighted when I saw him a few months ago, playing his old rock classics again. This was supposed to be a good year for Gary, a new DVD coming up and even a possible new Celtic record with old bandmate Neil Carter. It isn't to be and I'm heartbroken about it.. My heart goes out to his family, rest in peace Gary, you're music will live on forever! Blood Of Emerald!!
This is fucking amazing. After so many years these two guys are still complete in sync. It's a beautifull thing!!
scott and gary together are awesome
."..tell me those legends of long ago....so i might tell my children oooo..." . THESE ARE THE LEGENDS KIDS....
Let's put up a statue of Gary next to the one of Phil. It's his turn, now.
Agree!
why not the whole Thin Lizzy line up Eric Bell Scott Gorham and Brian Robertson while your at it :)
@@grumberfwarcraft7282 Amen..
@@grumberfwarcraft7282 don't do statue's for living men/women! But otherwise I'm going to agree
yes I agree RIP Gary & Phil
There's something incredibly special when they jam I've never seen anywhere before, rip Gary.
Thin Lizzy got in their songs something, I don't know what, that makes them THE BEST BAND EVER! That is the fact.
How does this not have a million views?
Precisely!
Now a tribute to not only Philo but Gary too!! I haven't always been convinced by his blues stuff, but what a great reminder of an absolute ROCK legend and why his Lizzy Black Rose period was, for me, second only to the great Robbo years that preceded it! Still remember the excitement on getting this album and all it's great singles on vinyl - those were the days!! RIP Gary
Best guitar duo ever in Lizzy, I was there that night and it was awesome. Also whiskey with Eric bell was brillant.sadly Philly and Gary gone but what memories we all have .
It’s Gorham and he’s a GOD
One of my alltime fav songs ...RIP Gary 🙏🌹
I have this on DVD as well and it's brilliant. One of Lizzy's best ever and this performance is fantastic, especially the instrumental section. Great tone, great playing, great melodies.
From an era when talent meant you were actually good at what you did. RIP Phil and Gary. What a band they were.
Joy in his Heart, One of the Legends greatest performances. He Loved it and He Breathed it. You cant put this into words. Honor his Legacy. He had it ALL.
What a fantastic performance just brilliant.
Makes a man proud to be an Irishman....and, hell, I'm a Czech......... What a treasure!
just love the way Gaz plays both parts (call and return) of the jig, brings a big smile :)
Happy Birthday in Heaven, dear Gary Moore. Miss you and all the songs, that will never be written by you :(
if you dont have this dvd get it it will keep you on the edge of your seat
This is just amazingly good rock music and to me it has an Irish touch. Grateful for seing Gary and Phil alive here in 1979. Rest in peace both, love you. Swedish fan.
The day Phil died, I played "King´s call", pretended it was written about him, not Elvis, and I got drunk over and over again, with my closest friends. Unfortunately I had to repear that again, as yet another King of Rock and blues left us. I hope, that when my time comes, I wil re-join them both again, for yet a few drinks and a good chat. Until then, they will be with me in my heart every minute of every day, week, month and year. True super-stars and legends!
I remember playing 'Spirit Slips Away' ... " May the angels be watching over you, that fateful day when your spirit slips away. May the angels bring their flame to you ... "
So amazing! Gary Moore is the guitar god!!!
This song is fckn amazing. Has driven me to tears many times in its perfection.
ITS GREAT TO HEAR TWO GUITAR PLAYERS PLAYING TOGETHER AND NOT TRYING TO COMPETE THEY STILL SOUND GREAT TOGETHER WAY TO GO GARY & SCOTT !!!! YOU ROCK THE HOUSE DOWN BUT I STILL LIKE THE COWBOY SONG BETTER !! CORSER
Gary Moore and Phil Lynott are the best!! R.I.P.
Awesome Version of this Song, I Love Gary Moore on Guitar and Vocals and of course Scott Gorham. Only missing is the "Guitar Battle" as heard on the Live&Dangerous Album, that was absolutley overwhelming. RIP Gary, we miss you!
One bad ass song, Gary is unreal along side Scott. Top notch.
I have said before and I will say it again Brian Downey is rocks great undiscovered greats!
I cant find the words to describe this, im sorry im lost for words, worlds best ever,
Gary Moore one of the greatest, also love Scott , Brian and the rest of Lizzy
Scott was probably the only guitarist to hold his own against Garry!
did Sykes just disappear from time itself?
@@stevenlornie1261 Nowhere near!

I would still play nice price for seeing The blokes...Scott, Brian, Darren, Robbo, even Sykes and then probably Marco Mendoza filling in the bass.....Snowy....etc all the living ones giving out one helluva concert for Phil.
Beats the hell out of the shit being played now days
Damn, why do the best always die so early
In Phil's case it was a case of Living therock 'n roll lifestyle which doesn't take any prisoners sadly.
Scott, the Lady killer
