He had just joined and he listened to the lead that was destined to be on the album and he flat refused. He said," It can't be done any better than that and if I can't improve on something I won't do it". @@paulf2723 Ok I understand and respect your point and I love Scott Gorham so much. I love his solo for this song and it is absolutely amazing. But this one is also quite amazing. I don't want to compare artists like that because this is just pure amazing music and it is just subjective how people would love more one than the other. Both are amazing and I just feel lucky that I got to know these amazing pieces in my life. If I was unlucky, I would maybe never discover these music.

    • @southernoutlawsireland
      @southernoutlawsireland Год назад +2

      @@paulf2723 Actually Gary wrote the bulk of the song originally in 74, he also demo'd it with Phil during the run for cover sessions in 85, its a little faster. Can find it online, was remastered in 2002, both solos on the live and Dangerous albums borrowed heavily from what Gary played originally, Robbo's solo was pretty much a direct copy, though Scott did add a bit more of his own flair he still kept the structure. What he played at this concert was improvised on the spot, the mark of a true master. Personally I like the L&D version best, so I totally get what you are saying, but I wouldnt want to confine the likes of Gary like that, the man was made to explore, it would be missing the point of who and what he was.

Gary gets and deserves the kudos but they were all chosen by Phil to express and acentuate his music for a reason. I love Brians playing and Scott was as solid as any. The rock world lost so much with the passing of Phil and Gary as is evident here with this wonderful song/lyric and arrangment. First vid I've seen of Gary and Brian together and I was thrilled that it exists, Still in love with you, dancing in the moonlight, the sun goes down, southbound.....ahhh

    Fortunate enough to see Gary in the 90’s…there,s great guitarists and then there’s Gary Moore ..he rips my heart out every time I hear him play that thing. No one else can do that but Brian Robertson nails it here so big respect

    You wish proof of the existent of the soul, then watch Mr. Moore's reach out and scream the magic of life through the strings of his chosen instrument, his notes intertwine through my ears and into my spark of living while tearing away the evil of this world, laying bare for all to see the MAGIC that music can create..... I know you Rest In Peace Mr. Moore because you are never really gone, as long as the world hears what you made with wood, metal and string then your Irish eyes will forever shine.

      @@gunny2112 destroy bb king? Do you really think bc someone is faster that instantly makes it better? This is blues we're talking bout not metal, everyone can play a bunch of blues notes and speed them up, the key is to sense out of it.

    Gary is a genius and he wrote this song no doubt. Would've loved if John Sykes hadn't gotten his Tinnitus up so bad he couldn't participate. His version of this song his perfect. Having him and Gary swap vocals and solos would have blown my mind completely. Had those two been in Lizzy at the same time and figured it out. Lizzy would've been the biggest band in the world. Those two were to talented to keep from creating megahits and melt peoples faces off solo after solo. RIP Gary, I miss you.
