Definitely a difference. One is quite obviously black & yellow while the other is yellow and black. Yay, must upgrade.
🤣🤣💖💯
Marketing ploy, can’t see the difference myself. Well done for saving us buying an upgrade, for no difference
🤣 makes me feel good about my purchase this week. Saw both tools side by side in the store. Figured i was doing a small grout job, and didnt need the best. The $50 price diiference for the DCS354B was a no brainer for me.
Thanks
let's confuse our customers to the point they forget competition exists
For anyone actually wondering what the difference truly is. Dewalt will actually comment if you contact them directly on the matter. When discussing with them on the tools they indicated to me "The XR version and Atomic version are identical in performance however the Atomic version is designed with internals more suited for home owner around the house use, the XR model is designed with commercial daily heavy use in mind". the difference may not be noticeable in a test like what we are seeing here, however if you were to use these tools both side by side for a week straight in a heavy commercial setting, the atomic version i am sure would show its signs weather it be motor over heat, battery consumption rate or simple durability in significant drop tests".
Not saying the atomic version is no good, it definitely is great and wil perform the same tasks as the XR version, but if your a general contractor who will be using this tool daily, you may want to spend the extra 5 - 10 % and go with the XR model of the Dewalt tool line up, as its designed more to handle heavy extreme use.
Isnt the XR cheaper? Its like $120 at Home Depot and the Atomic is like $140.
so you mean we should read it as at-home-ic ? was this a pun bet from the marketing dept? (thanks for your input)
I run a construction business and bought the atomic version when it first came out just to try it and it’s been working just fine and have had 0 problems with it and I use daily and especially when I’m cutting doorways when installing laminate flooring or tile etc or cutting sheet rock or any hard woods, the atomic is literally not bad at all and I know a lot of pros that use it as well and they switch prices around all the time sometimes the XR is cheaper than the atomic and sometimes the atomic is cheaper than the XR not sure why that is but that could just be at our Lowe’s and home depot but I’m sure it’s like that everywhere
You know what Danial K. That does make sense. I read a few other reviews on the atomic that stated that the handle overheated with prolonged use and the batteries die quickly. I have the DSC356B and I just cut a stump out of the ground and it took like an half an hour and it did not overheat nor did my 1.3amp battery die.
A cheaper build for the same price? Makes sense. Actually at this moment Home Depot is selling the XR $40 cheaper than the Atomic.
I picked up that atomic oscillator kit today at Home Depot. It included the Oscillator, an atomic drill, (now with hammer functionality), 2-1.5 Ah batteries, a bag and a charger for $159.99
I have the atomic oscillating tool. I love it. All my Dewalt stuff is the XR line and flex volt line. Only got the atomic since it was on sale for Black Friday. Use it daily. Works perfectly. Only atomic tool id buy though.
I have to buy a new, my old version was with me almost 4 years working everyday ,I don't know the atomic. Thank you for the video
Dewalt mastered the multi tool out of any brand by leaps and bounds....that quick blade release with the variable speed trigger with the lock and the rate of speed is unmatched
Just what I was looking for, thank you for saving me money.
I have the corded dewalt model. It’s a beast! I would like the XR cordless 3 speed model though, just got control, as it does not have more OPM than the basic XR/corded models. I think one thing dewalt could improve is the oscillation angle. I think they’re claiming 1.5° which could be improved.
Some good info here! Just working on a review with the atomic vs the new m12.
cool, thanks for watching
new m12 fuel sux, I have all m12 tools. Finicky tool change , dumb speed adjust wheel, plus bad ergo switch on top. Lots of vibration and noise cutting nothing, dim light. Immediately returned for atomic, $99 with batt and charger, Love it!
Keyboard Warrior with my experience I’m going to lean towards saying no.
Great Video. I say if you already have one keep it. If you're don't have one get what ever is the cheapest. Looks like about the same to me.
Awsome I've been trying to figure this out myself, nice to know that its not just me scratching my head. Sometimes its nice when you professionals can't figure it out. Just means that if you cant tell the difference (seeing how you deal with this stuff on a daily basis) I for sure won't be able to tell the difference. Thanks again. Awesome videos. I HAVE SUBSCRIBED...👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
thanks for watching and the kind words!
Good comparison thanks.
Just picked up the Atomic DCSW354B in store at HD for 99 dollars with a 2 AH battery with charge lights, a DCB112 2 Amp charger, two blades and a tool adapter.
They had the XR DCS356 online for the same price with three speeds (my understanding is that you always run the tool at full speed), a 1.5 AH battery no charge lights and a 1.5 Amp DCB107 charger 2 blades, tool adapter and a tool bag.
I went for the "bird in hand" in stock at the store and a more powerful battery (charge lights are nice too) and charger. Didn't need the bag, have a bunch of Husky bags. Haven't tried it yet so we'll see.
My understanding is that Atomic line is discontinued and they're clearing them out. Doesn't matter to me as long as it works well. I saw some other Atomic labeled tools at HD as well, a small circular saw for example. Think Atomic is kind of a dumb name for a tool because it's not nuclear powered.
Using it initially for a laminate flooring project.
I use my Dewalt oscillating tool a lot and can say the ability to install a belt loop is a must; I use the clip all the time. New tools shouldn’t loose utility and features.
I totally agree
UNLESS you are DeWalt trying to sell as many as you can...
Get this…the XR doesn’t even come with the clip. That sucks because I want one. I can’t even find it on dewalt’s website either. It’s almost like they stopped putting them with the new tools. I got a drill like two years ago and it didn’t come with the clip either and the picture shows it.
@@joeboxer6950: I run the belt clips and bit holders on every one of my DeWalt drills and impacts. The clips come on some drills/impacts; the bit holders also come on some. I just bought them on E-
Bay as I have over a dozen drills/impacts with this stuff on them and I just wanted them all to match. The clips are quite cheep online; well worth the money.
@@libertarian1637 thanks man
You can probably guarantee that numbers have been fudged and some corners cut, but IMO the DCS355 XR has been phased into the Atomic to keep the Atomic brand up and running, while introducing the new DCS356 XR with speed selector switch. I think the DCS355 XR was a mistake without the speed selector switch that couldn’t compete with its competitors that have a speed control dial! Sooner or later the DCS355 XR will get discontinued. It’s a good way to save money keeping older tools in circulation with new branding without paying for R&D and new molds to be made for new tools🤷🏻♂️
Great video. I like your honesty and candidness. It's always a struggle when shopping for these products. I think the reason they don't always have side-by-side comparisons is that there isn't much of a difference. Marketing and words sell products. "Atomic" must mean better, so if you are an impulsive shopper or in a hurry, you are likely to go for the one with the big adjective and font. I've been burned a few times and given away an extra $25-$100, even after spending an hour or two doing research. If the specifications are fairly similar it's probably not much of a difference. I am concerned that the older tools become less compatible over time with the new battery designs and I look for what has been added or subtracted in regards to accessories, such as the clip mounting that was mentioned in the video. It also depends on how you use the tool and if you are using it daily or once every couple of months. Thanks
thanks, glad you liked the vid, It's definitely tricky picking the right tool sometimes. also because the atomic runs at a lower rpm it doesn't get as hot as the xr on extended use.
@@hammerandhome I bought the Atomic, it came with a 20V 5amp battery for $125. It works great. Thanks
the atomic drill and 3/8 impact are very nice and the difference in those tools is more noticeable. the atomic line is just compact 20v tools really not much more in it than that. atomic plus compact powerstack battery makes for a pretty good performing compact tool esp in that 20v size so idk if its necessary but they are definitely more compact than the normal xr line while maintaining most of the power
Since I have the XR version I'll say it way out performed the atomic version
Since I have the atomic I’ll say it out performed the XR 🤣🤣🤣
I’ve just tested both and did a side by side test, the atomic did seem to cut better than the XR, I found it strange too.
I have the corded model and the xr 3 speed for when using outside like on the roof or working on a out building where you don't want to run extension cords but they are both great tools
DeWalt is doing some confusing stuff with the atomic line. The older model cost less and has more power which is a real head scratcher? Also the whole purpose of the atomic line is that it's supposed to be more compact and it's not. Just weird stuff going on there.
CraftManGreg yeah I’m definitely a bit confused my self. Thanks for watching 👍
Atomic line is smaller. Also im pretty sure he meant to say 18,000 oscillations per minute as opposed to 1800. Not as big a difference but the dcs345b is atomic also and has 20,000 oscillations too.
1:50 Yep, both metal.. I noticed that, too, a few days ago when trying to figure out what the differences were.
Edit: I meant plastic...
I bought the atomic for $99 with a charger, two blades, and 2Ah battery included at home depot last week, 11/14/2021. They are on sale!
Sweet!
I think it’s for better control in working on small space. I was reading online something about finer cut ?
I got the silver one about ~2-3 weeks ago on sale from HD for $119 with a 3Ah battery. Didn't know it was being discontinued. I just got the orbital hand sander with the same battery for the same price.
Gaston26 that sounds like a pretty sweet deal!
Its discountinued from HD. Lowes sells only the xr version
I just got the DCS356B XR 3 speed version from Lowe’s for $99.
Great video! I wonder how they would do head to head with cutting metals and wood with nails and bolts. Also checking the temps with a temp gun to see how different that really is 🤔
That’s some good questions. Perhaps I will make a vid. Thanks for watching
Does it make you biceps swole?
Has anyone tested the OPM on both the tools?
They just need to keep pushing new tools so they can continue to increase profits. It's that simple.
You just need to buy the power detect version then the FlexVolt advantage version and go get one of the old brushed versions. Then you can REALLY do a comparison and get even more confused...but boy you will really be set for certain kinds of jobs... And then go buy an M12 version to get those precise jobs done... I have the XR...for when I really want to tear things up...
Great review. Watching from New Zealand
Awesome! Thanks for watching! I have great memories from my travels in NZ, such an incredible place!
Just bought an atomic one. Question. Is the blade suppose to be at a slight angle? When my blade is say in the 12 and 6 oclock holes it slightly cants to the right as you look at it from behind. Didnt know if that was normal. Thanks anyone
I think it’s just a marketing thing. I own Dewalt tools and i really like the Dewalt platform but hate they make you choose between 2 or more different series like that. Some times it makes you second guess your your self then end up with all of them and half the tools are sitting not being in use. Other brands just got one or 18 v and 12v lines, at least the 60v battery can be used on all the tools, that is a plus.
Just picked up the atomic at local Home Depot for $99. Love it so far
I bought the atomic recently. Would you take it over the xr ?
Same here! I haven't tried it out yet but I wanted to snag it up for my new tool kit! I got a bunch of Milwaukee power tools but this one I wanted the Dewalt!
Cut across the grain for more consistent results and a better comparison between the tools.
Love your videos mate 👍🏽
Thank you very much!
Oh man... I wanted to see some cross cutting! How long do you get out of those batteries? Looks like you could actually get into some wood carving with those! Thank you for sharing and thumbs UP... I jumped on the New version you mentioned... thanks!!!
Love my dewalt tools, probably one of the best. Dewalt is screwing them selves up by naming new tools with less power. They should release a new tool once they improve and surpass the current one.
toolhead 147 it’s definitely confusing
toolhead 147 I think older tools are being rebranded with the Atomic name!
The terms "XR" and "brushless" refer to specific technologies used in DEWALT power tools, including oscillating tools. Here are the differences between the two:
XR (eXtreme Runtime): XR is a range of DEWALT products characterized by enhanced performance and extended runtime due to the use of high-capacity batteries and optimized energy management. XR tools are designed to provide better energy efficiency and increased runtime, making them ideal for extended use and demanding professional applications.
Brushless: Brushless motors are designed with brushless technology that offers several advantages over traditional brushed motors. Brushless motors are more efficient, produce less heat, and have a longer lifespan. They are also more compact and lightweight, allowing for the design of more powerful and compact tools.
Thus, a DEWALT oscillating tool bearing the "XR" designation benefits from the advantages of the XR range, including better runtime and optimized performance, while a "brushless" model utilizes brushless motor technology for increased energy efficiency and extended lifespan. In some cases, oscillating tools may combine both technologies to deliver maximum performance and extended runtime.
great comparison
Atomic on sale now 99.00 at HD with 2 amp hour battery and charger
No contest XR kills atomic in all tools. Home depot Carries the cheap atomic. Try the recepracating saw XR cuts faster going through wood and nails vs atomic just wood. The XR impact has better torque.
I also noticed that the atomic line has less vibrations/minute... but has less vibrations on the user and cuts the same.
Icyrene yeah it definitely has less vibration. I think it might cut better. Still not sure.
The XR brushless is $99 at Ace right now. Comes with 1.5 amp max xr battery, charger and bag. I like the smaller battery because of length. The 4 or 5 amp batteries make the tool too long in some cabinets.
totally agree, I always run slim batteries on this
My old one just died, idk why, not normally a problem with Dewalts. Anyway, ordered an Atomic from Ebay for $74, just to try different model. Maybe I'll take the old one apart and see if I can fix it.
We have had great luck with the atomic at work. Sometimes I mix them up and the atomic feels like it's got low battery compared to xr but both will take a beating 👍
Hi Brad,
The DeWalt DCS356 (3 speed) is not the atomic model. It's the same as the DCS355 oscillating speeds with 3 speeds.
A DeWalt rep at home depot told me the difference between the atomic and the XR model is that the atomic handle does not get as hot as the XR when running it longer. Plus the items you describe in the video.
I hope that helps. If you find any different information let us know.
Michael C thanks for the info! I’m definitely confused because in the instruction booklet it shows the 3 speed version as an option for atomic. I’ll call my rep in town and see what he says. Thanks for watching 😊
@@hammerandhome
What is Dewalt doing to us, LOL...No problem, just go on the DeWalt website and you will see all the information on the (DCS 356).
Nice. I have the original would love to see how it compares to the newer model. Can't find one on RUclips at all. Hopefully we can get a video?
Atomic is their lower grade line. But i guess thats why they call it "compact" even though its not any smaller then some of the XR tools depending on what type it is. They are tying to pass it off as a mid or small tool and not a full size tool. All of the tools slightly under perform the XR version. Some its so minor you cant tell. The one where its most apparent is in their impact drill. If you drive a 8" lag into a hard piece of wood atomic cant drive it all the way or get it out. XR can.
I have that atomic impact, and i would agree it is totally underpowered compared to the others. thanks for watching
Very important for diyers
Is the atomic brushless?
I bought the atomic oscillating tool with a 5.0 ah battery for 129.00 at the depot and picked it up yesterday 8/30/21
Nice one!
You cant do a head to head unless you take the human element out of the test.
I picked up the Atomic at HD for $89 with 1, 2 ah battery and charger. the other one was $129 with 1ah battery and charger
Actually I noticed only now in your video that your XR doesn’t have that switch. Do the XR come in different versions, depending on region or country ?
3 different versions of the DEWALT Multi tool #tools #dewalt #renovation
I'd take the xr any day. I've used both for many hours. And really felt the atomic was a lot more vibration
100% nope. The XR is not better in all tools. My brother has been a Dewalt rep for many years.
This one is almost exactly the same... except they slowed the atomic down a bit because the xr was overheating in the handle. Look it up.
In all Dewalt XR... in batteries means extra runtime. But in tools means brushless. And that also gives you extra runtime. (They say 57% more. atomic and xr) Thats it. Nothing more or less. In this specific case the Atomic is a better tool. Same power. Also brushless, but it does not overheat. Not to mention it cost less. No brainer.
@@KaneLono so are all atomic line up better than the xr line up?
The dcs355 will be discounted and replaced by the dcs356 as the premium oscillating tool and the atomic will be the base one. The three speed tool is nice because you still have the variable speed trigger but with the 3 speed switch, you can lock the handle and run at lower speed for more versatility
Chris McKay thanks for clarifying all that Chris. Makes more sense now. Thanks for watching!
Yeah the atomic is the 355 and the 356 is the new XR... Besides the 3 speeds it has less vibration then before etc The atomic will be cheaper usually as well. Both nice tools
What's funny to me is that the 355 and the 356 have the same oscillating power so that leads me to believe the 356 is the new XR and the 354 is just more of an entry-level model.
I just bought the 356 today and looking forward to using it. Like it was mentioned above, I like the ability to be able to lock the trigger on lower speeds.
Other reviewers pointed a three position speed switch on XR model. That’s rather important feature. How could you miss that?
Video coming just for you 😊
the difference is in the oscillation degrees. XP is 1.6deg atomic is 1.8 to 2.0 deg
thank you!
The XR runs 139 and Atomic is 99. I would assume the XR is better as most XR tools are better than atomic counterparts. I have a couple atomics and they are good but they could be better imo. I plan on getting an XR when they put a deal out, no point in having 3 oscillating tools for shits and giggles.
This seems like more of a manufacturing difference than actual product differentiation.
This tool sells well and is in mid-production cycle. You can increase profits by making manufacturing slightly cheaper by using slightly less material (now its lighter!) and having the battery last slightly longer by running at a lower OPM. Perhaps they are using a different motor...would love to see a side by side tear-down.
To prevent pissing off your customer base, you give it some arbitrary name (ATOMIC!) and initially charge more for it while you phase the old tool out. When they stop selling the stock of XR, these will drop in price.
A few cents in manufacturing savings might not seem like much, but over hundreds of lines and thousands of tools it adds up to millions of dollars.
that's a very good point. thanks for watching!
I found out from Dewalt rep that the atomic line was home depot wanted a line to compete with Lowes because they got 12v line
very interesting, i hadn't heard that .thanks for watching
Well that was a bad move the 12v line was actually decent. Atomic made Dewalt look like cheap homeowner tools I know a bunch of guys at my work switching from Dewalt because of failed atomic line.
@@zack6892 The atomic hasn't failed it's a compact version of the 20v line and the drills are the best in it's class and the impact driver is good enough for anything it's supposed to be used for, screws not lag's you can use it in a pinch on lags but you will ruin your impact driver in fact they just came out with a band saw that is more compact than m12 bandsaw
Lou Cifer yeah they work but the build quality is worst then the old Dewalt max lineup and It’s all made in China. The atomic multi tool failed on us at work within the first 6 months and most of the people I know that went with atomic to replace their older Dewalt stuff had similar experience. I’m a carpenter so my prospective is above and beyond homeowner use so I get that maybe I wasn’t the targeted audience still no other name brand company is releasing cheaper tools they all improve each generation even the cheaper line look at Milwaukee compact brushless stuff or rigid or ryobi. I still love the Dewalt tools I own that’s why it disappoints me to see it. I haven’t seen the atomic band saw so I can’t comment but as far as atomic goes I would take the 12v xtreme over atomic they are smaller and comparable in power. I’m trying to hold out on switching as I prefer Dewalt since they are made in USA but it’s hard when all I see them do is rebrand roll lineups to ensure Lowe’s and Home Depot get their “exclusives”.
@@zack6892 Milwaukee is made in China and it's owned by China, Dewalt is the only American power tool company and you think DeWalt just sends their stuff to China and says make this and that, no they have rep's there making sure they are using quality materials to make their tools, but on the other hand Milwaukee is owned by China they have no quality assurance on their products they use the cheapest shit they can, that's why they have crappy chucks, collets and switches
Favorite tool in construction
It’s a game changer ! Thx for watching
What about compared to the corded version?
i have never even touched the corded version, i try to stay away from corded tools, unless its a specialty tool
The atomic line is more of a homeowner grade. The XR is more of a contractor grade. Will they perform the same? Yes. But one should outlast the other if used heavily every day.
Just bought the Atomic + 5Ah battery for $99 shipped. HD Cyber Monday 2020.
that's an amazing deal!
I got the $99 deal today too. Atomic tool, 2ah battery and charger with blades. Awesome deal. So excited
@@SavedbyGrace1157 that’s such a great deal! Enjoy, the more you use it the more you will love it. Thanks for watching 😁
That makes me question the xr 356 deal i got with bag charger and 1.5ah battery for $99. The 1.5ah battery is just to small to really do much with.
What's the extra screw it comes with for?
That’s for the star type attachments with the universal fit. They won’t clamp in, so you have to put the washer on then the attachment then the screw. They don’t even give you the Allen Key with it. You have to buy it separately.
The difference is this the atomic costs them less to make so they can put it in the dewalt kits for cheaper
Was the xr part of the 10 tool combo kit?
Pawel Paluchniak yes
been on the 20v xr platform for years, i love it
i see literally no purpose in owning the Atomic line
Agreed. Not worth it. Stick with the standard line up
Got the 369 for $80 shipped on eBay. It was cheaper so I got it.
nice find!
You thought the X-RAY chuck was metal because why? The color?
Not positive but aren’t the atomics designed to use less battery consumption and work just as well as previous versions?
i have never heard that before, ill look into it, thanks for watching
my atomic really does seem to go a really long time on a 2 amp battery. though the sawsall atomic eats batteries 4 amp need it that
I have the xr. I guess I'll stay with that, then. I'm wanting a table saw, and I'd rather put my money into that, especially since there's no discernable difference between the xr and the atomic.
Sounds like a good plan. Are you going with a corded table saw or battery?
XR will hold up better in the long run. If your shopping table saws Dewalt just released a corded one with a bigger motor best table saw hands down. Steel frame will last forever.
3:57 Why do we still feel the need to manually oscillate oscillating tools?
Because it helps cut faster
They both rip. I use the XR for heavy use...Atomic for Fine detail.
Got both in my hands right now and I'm pulling straws as to what the difference is.
there are a lot of opinions, 1, dewalt trying to sell another line, 2. lower OPM so the motor doesn't overheat as easily. 3. who knows. I like both, good luck
@@hammerandhome Well, I did the cut test myself and.... they are the same. As an electrician I know when you increase the load on a motor it slows down and power goes up. Shit. I think i just busted this wide open. DeWalt had to lower the output speed to make the motor or gearing last longer.... Anyone? Prove me wrong here. (literally I just thought of that while I was typing this).
HELP AVE!!!!!
@@hammerandhome #2 is right eh. Cheers.
Everyone is still talking about those two when DeWALT brought out the 3 speed XR DCS356 months ago
TOUGHToolGirl yeah it’s definitely a hot topic
Interesting channel name, tool junkie?🤔😉
Junk without the variable speed
Battle of the multi tool but I’m over half way in and the only opinion he has is “idk guys”
I just bought the regular 356 with 3 speeds. It does not say ‘Atomic’ on the box, it has a silver blade release lever and the spec plate says 20,000 opm. So it seems there must be an Atomic version of the 356 and also a regular version of the 356….why? who knows!
Anyways….IF the only difference with an ‘Atomic’ is LOWER max operating speed…then that can only be a dis-advantage….right?
right, they seem to both work the same, its almost impossible to find the difference, from my experience
Xr has better battery life.. I’m still trying to find a comparison video.
atomic is garbage,Im a carpenter and only use dewalt but the atomic line is not worth the price, I would not buy them keep buying XR .
Take it apart .. ...you'll see the difference
Dumb thing is, right now at homedepot in canada, the xr is$129.00 and the atomic is $190.00...........crazy.......😅
Does home depot sell the atomic exclusive.
Bill Rehm I have heard they are the only ones selling it. You can also find them on amazon.
DeWalt is now only sold at Home Depot, it was originally lowes but they have Craftsman (rebadged DeWalt) so there is no point in DeWalt at lowes.
Lowe’s still sells Dewalt (at least in NC) but they aren’t getting the Atomic line. THAT is exclusive to Home Depot for now. You are right about Lowe’s pushing Craftsman.
We have found it on Amazon if that is easier for you: amzn.to/2MuY6a4
I've noticed only Lowe's carries the Dewalt 12v line, Home Depot does not.
I returned my Atomic tools the XR is so much better...
Both are MTD manufactured
The only different is..... MARKETING !
Wass. D I’m told the Handel doesn’t get as hot on the atomic version.
The atomic is less powerful for sure we have both at work and whenever I grab the atomic I check the battery after using it cause it feels low on battery.
I just got the atomic. Did you mean to say 18,000 vs 20,000? You said 1,800.
Yes that's why we posted a title underneath saying "it's actually 18,000". Thanks for watching!
I had both. Let the Atomic go and kept the Xr. The atomic gets hot to easy.
it definitely does
Thanks for the comparison. Friendly tip for future videos: please lower the volume of the tool in action in your video editor. It's not necessary to retain its relative loudness to your voice, and it's annoying to have to mute or turn down the video every time you use it.
Could you just send me one of those? Co'z you said you can't have too many of it. I can't afford to buy one. Watching from the Philippines.
haha, Thanks for watching bud.
let me help you figure out the diff , no diff , just price , tools get killed
I bought the Atomic bcuz it was supposed to be compact. But it's the same size. I don't gettit either
It’s a head scratcher. Better off buying a first gen model.
@@hammerandhome I use the XR at work & Atomic @ home
One is super compact and the other is HUGE! LOL it's pretty much the same tool With a different name. Dewalt is struggling with rebranding their tools. Problem is, ppl, especially paying customers have caught on to dewalt trying to urge ppl to go out and buy the same tool they already own... Dewalt is starting to lose my business. I had the atomic multi tool dcs354 and 98days later the trigger is surging the rpms up and down randomly. So it was returned and I ordered the xr with the 3 speed switch. If the trigger fails like the last did (also my xr dcf887 impact had the same trigger issues and I sold that too) then my business will go to the M-18 tools. C'mon dewalt quit thinking we are dumb.
I’m sorry did you say the Atomic has 1,800( 18hundred) compared to the XR which has 20,000( 20THOUSAND)!? That’s a huge difference. Did u mean 18,000? Or 2,000
my bad, its 18000
For the minimal performance, I’ll stick to my XR
It’s LESS performance, by 2000 opm with Atomic!!! Sticking with XR is a no brainer. DeWalt just hope the Atomic label will bring in fresh orders.
You hit the vain
Isnt one brushless and the other isnt ?
Nope both brushless I believe
Both brushless
So basically the only difference is the price
That whole atomic line didn't make any sense. The only tool in the atomic that is worth buying is the 4.5 inch saw. And even that, in my opinion dewalt dropped the ball as it it could of been Waaay better
I think the release lever is magnesium and not plastic but i could be wrong.
Atomic Iine has lower performance than XR in every single tool I have tried so far.
I'm confused what the thinking of DeWalt Atomic lines purpose. They are not compact nor are they any better. Actually they are less inferior. Reviews have showed they suck.
Theres zero reason to get atomic gear over XR. Period. Its worse, and hardly lighter
Worse? You mean a new model with almost zero difference? As such, not "worse", but less value?
