As a woman getting into power tools (this tool will be my fifth DeWalt added to arsenal) I really appreciate you explaining what each attatchment is with a practical visual guide. Many people simply _tell_ the viewer how things work, they don't _show_. So, thank you. Excited to try this tool out!
My cousins wife just asked for her first drill and driver set. I gave her an undercut but from ryobi because it's the battery system she has. She's obsessed with it since they are redoing their house
As a tradesman for over 35 years, every now and then a product comes along that amazes you. The multi-tool is one of those things. An ex colleague of mine turned up at my house to help me replace my consumer unit ( fuse box ) and fit new sockets in my kitchen, he had a cheaper corded Worx one. We used it to cut out the plasterboards for the sockets and, to cut boards to add new sections of board where required. I truly was blown away by its versatility, cutting copper pipework in awkward spots, cutting floorboards ( drywall ) to gain access to pipes/ cables it’s a very good tool to have at your fingertips. He gave me the tool when we finished the job as he’d just bought a new battery one. Within a few weeks, I was so impressed I went and bought the DeWalt 18v version. This is a ‘game changer’ tool, and other people have bought one on my recommendation. Mine cost £100 bare unit, to me it’s worth £300 all day long, if you work as a tradesman once you use it you’ll wonder how you ever managed without one.
Professional carpenter here, this tool is absolutely amazing. I use a corded Fein for yrs. This tool with its fine trigger speed control is amazing . Never went back to the corded tool. I use a 2ah battery because they charge quickly and have excellent run time.
I use mine a lot in the electrical field. As an apprentice I use another blade attachment by rack-a-tiers for single, double, and data cut-ins in dry wall. Helps me zip through the whole process. I’m glad I got one.
I had to re-caulk all my windows on the exterior of my house. I bought this and put a scraper blade on and took all the caulking right out. My house is brick, so I would hold the blade so it would hammer on the brick lightly and it would remove all the all caulking off the brick. Awesome tool.
I just sold my 20v and replaced it with a 12v extreme. I loved using the oscillator. I use it mostly to plane and level wood pieces, and removing adhesive junk.
Put a carbide metal cutting blade on my recently purchased dewalt multi tool and used it to cut off some of the fins on the underside of an aluminum threshold ( I’m a commercial door installer) so that it could transition from the concrete to the carpet more smoothly and could not believe how much easier and faster it was versus grinding them down. It’s definitely a tool to use for more precise and hard to reach situations. But definitely a LOUD tool.
Love your review style. Great to have practical uses demonstrated with pro tips. Wish other channels would do the same instead of just speed runs. I think your channel definitely deserves a place at the top of Tool RUclips.
I wasn't sure i needed a multitool at first but decided to get the Bosch gop 18 V ec thanks to this video. It does a solid job but unfortunately just like that DeWalt it's loud as hell. protect your hearing lad, never take it for granted.
Just bought one of these tools bundled with a Dewalt drill, had no idea what I'd use it for and this was a great video covering use cases and demo. Thanks!
Needed to cut some small thing, borrowed one from my father, as soon as I was done with the job went to store and bought tool for me and big blade kit. This too does a lot of thing not perfectly bit most of the things it does no other tool can handle.
Good luck to all who own this. I bought one, tried it and returned it. It's the first DeWalt tool I ever returned. Reason: I did not cut aggressively enough. My beat up Rigid put it to shame. Why: Just check the specs. They all recip at about 20K strokes per minute. The reason the Dewalt sucks is the recip angle (the full angle the saw goes thru each cycle). The DeWalt was 1-1/2 degrees and the Rigid was 3 degrees. Heck, a cheap Ryobi is 3 degrees. The DeWalt cuts only half as much for each cycle. Don't just oh-and-ah just because it's painted yellow. Check it out. And this is coming from a DeWalt lover!!
You need to know how to used it. One of the best tools we use every day, never fails. I have been using mine for years waiting to break down so i can get a new one but it just won't die😂🤣
7:07 Jesus, am I glad I watched this video. I was about 2 days away from taking my brand new DeWalt Oscillating tool and plunging in to some finished and painted drywall. My tiny box would probably have ended up with some annoying patching and painting. Great demo and thanks for the advice on practicing with garbage.

I bought it after watching your video. I love it. You’re definitely right about using the slimmer battery. It makes it even easier to maneuver. Thanks!
I used for irrigation and PVC and works well you just need to have a learning curve on how to handle, circular pipes are the worst but if you are working with square materials it's super easy Let the tool do the work don't force it in like traditional plunge saws
thanks i just bought this type of tool not the same brand but you gave me a great tip on how to cut straight so i can fix my tile floor and get under the cabinet. You got a thumbs up from me. Thanks for the help!

No doubt if you're having to hold the copper pipe with one hand and the tool with the other it will move around at max rpm, but using both hands to cut metal that's held in place and feathering the triggeris the way to go.
I have and love this tool. Becarful how hard you work this tool tho. The back od the handle gets hot and eventually the switch on my went out. I then got the non xr version with the black tool change handle and it is pretty good as well. A little less power but also a little less vibration in the hand. The back of the main handle gets hot on that one as well.
The Dewalt has a nice blade connection. My Bosch 12V uses an Allen screw to hold the blade but no holder for the Allen wrench. I use it for a lot of drywall and electrical cutouts. My Dewalt cutoff saw cuts pipe and HVAC metal duct.
Careful those things are not for continuous duty. I've burned out two already, including one high end Milwaukee M18. When it gets hot give it a rest. My go to multi tool is still my Milwaukee M18s. That being said, the cheap corded ones are just as effective minus the fit/finish/feel/balance and won't last as long.
You must have had bad luck we've had our DeWalt xr multi tool at my job for years now and it gets used every job we work 6 days a week. Milwaukee multi tool isn't even fuel the Makita one is better if you absolutely won't get DeWalt although it's better then every one I've tried besides the Fein/festool. If you run a flex volt 9ah on the multi tool it gets even more power it's great for any woodwork.

Then when you supported your arm for the plunge cut it went well and you're all "I've been doing this for a while so.." lmao.

Wondering if it would cut through tin? I'm installing that on my ceiling. We used tin snips. But panels are 26" wide. Some need trimmed my place isn't exactly squared up. So getting them pre cut doesn't always work. 😬
You won't get a smooth cut with that thing unless you sandwich the tin in between two thin boards. Angle grinder with a cutoff blade, cutting shears, fine tooth blade on a bandsaw will do a wonderful job.
Here in the usa, thw atomic is only available as a no speed selector model, the xr on the other hand is only available with the xr model. sometimes they put the speed less xr model into their low end kits at Lowe's. same with the brushless 6 1/2 cirvular saw bare tool has a rafter hook, the ine that cimes in the 4 tool brushless kit doesn't have a rafter hook, same spec saw though. its weird sometimes. but i guess, in the end it comes down to pricing.
@@hammerandhome Went out and got the Atomic tool-only model for $99 at Home Depot today 🤗. What tool would you use to cut a 4” PVC pipe instead if you don’t own a power saw?

Been using for a few times this week. Very loud, cutting good, weight ok, to much vibration compared to other makes. Very good tool free blade change. I prefer the Bosch, or fein
I just got a Dremel multitool. I am a little confused about if I can get the adapters that you were talking about for it. The aftermarket blades seem a bit tough to find for it.
I’m not sure about what blades you can use on the dremal multi tool. I haven’t tried it yet. I do know the DEWALT has an adapter for dremal blades to be used on it.
One of those tools you use more and more got one free with 200 dollar 2 pac 5 .0 battery kit with bag and charger lowes black Friday deal I have the Bosch corded but this is a nice tool especially with the black Friday deals
I need to cut a sliver of composite decking that was installed to close to the siding. I will need to cut vertically down into the decking very close to the wall. The material is tough to cut. Will this work?
I apologize but the Makita Multi-tool is better. Less Vibration and smoother cutting. That said I do like Dewalt with 2AH battery for cutting in dark or ceilings.
You didn't show everyone you can lock the speed without using the trigger, although when that's done it maxes out the speed. But still pretty cool feature!! Especially when sanding since you don't have to hold the trigger down!
I put a belt clip on mine but the shitty part about it is they do not provide the nut for the screw for the belt clip, I had to take it off another tool and it was a pain in the ass to get the nut where it needs to go.
i really don't understand why dewalt would cheap out on that. makes no sense not to add that little nut. i wanted to belt clip mine as well, just haven't got around to it yet.
@@hammerandhome I am not sure if it was just mine or if all of them are like that, the other thing that makes no sense to me is the Drywall cutter doesn't even have the option to put the clip on it there no whole.
I have yet to find the depth gauge attachment at any store or even on the Dewalt website. Don't know why Dewalt is keeping them away from the public. Also, I noticed the pricing of the different blade attachments is a little steep like $17 and up.
Got any tips on cleaning off caked on gypsum dust? I had to use mine recently for some overhead drywall work recently and that stuff went into every little crevice.
This one fits so good in my hand. Unfortunately, no angular and depth stop like festool / fein. Those suckers are sooo expensive but I have no choice, it's just perfectly designed, not to mention the vac capability of the vecturo i'll buy.
I wish he would say which model he has. I know they are all pretty much the same but there are minor differences that could be relevant between the models these days.
I have been able to make cuts in some places where I couldn’t get ANY other tool! Including cutting off a corroded plastic nut under a bar sink for the faucet that was almost inaccessible.
Can you call a hepa vac CUTE?

thats a dewalt Tstak foam insert
do all those tools come with it
You didn't show everyone you can lock the speed without using the trigger, although when that's done it maxes out the speed. But still pretty cool feature!! Especially when sanding since you don't have to hold the trigger down!
that's true, i did miss that feature
I put a belt clip on mine but the shitty part about it is they do not provide the nut for the screw for the belt clip, I had to take it off another tool and it was a pain in the ass to get the nut where it needs to go.
i really don't understand why dewalt would cheap out on that. makes no sense not to add that little nut. i wanted to belt clip mine as well, just haven't got around to it yet.
@@hammerandhome I am not sure if it was just mine or if all of them are like that, the other thing that makes no sense to me is the Drywall cutter doesn't even have the option to put the clip on it there no whole.
I got almost all my tools dewalt very fan of this toys
I have yet to find the depth gauge attachment at any store or even on the Dewalt website. Don't know why Dewalt is keeping them away from the public. Also, I noticed the pricing of the different blade attachments is a little steep like $17 and up.
Got any tips on cleaning off caked on gypsum dust? I had to use mine recently for some overhead drywall work recently and that stuff went into every little crevice.
i would say a wet cloth. and perhaps an air hose. good luck :)
They are a great tool for a few jobs, but the noise is terrible, I have had two, but will a tool that is quieter if possible.
I would love it if they made them quieter! they can be extremely annoying. thanks for watching
They’re great for drywall
definitely are, thanks for watching
What storage box is that?
That's the TSTAK Single Deep Drawer

This one fits so good in my hand. Unfortunately, no angular and depth stop like festool / fein. Those suckers are sooo expensive but I have no choice, it's just perfectly designed, not to mention the vac capability of the vecturo i'll buy.
I wish he would say which model he has. I know they are all pretty much the same but there are minor differences that could be relevant between the models these days.

Can I use the multitool to open a coconut?
you could try, im sure it would work lol
Getting ideas, still thinking about it. It might work.
Use a sawzall for metal and everything stronger or bigger. This tool’s for finishing.
Thanks heaps for that. Great informative vid.
Loved the vid. Very informational.
Great to hear, thanks for watching!
You can also rotate the blade
Yes, in many positions
It was the tool purchace i regret. I hardly ever used it.
Never have seen this before but it looks like a great tool for hard to cut places!
Bob Kinsley
it definitely is, once you start using them you end up finding all kids of uses for it. thanks for watching
I have been able to make cuts in some places where I couldn’t get ANY other tool!
Including cutting off a corroded plastic nut under a bar sink for the faucet that was almost inaccessible.
😅 I have a problem I'm watching a video about a tool I already own and use on a daily basis 😂
OBS Nation haha, I do the same thing😁 thanks for watching
