Technically it could be considered front mid-engine. The very front of the engine is even with the front axle line placing it behind the front axle completely, aka front-mid engine.
Again... Fords own press release material make NO mention of it being as such. Don't let the foolios that upvote your comment embolden you into error. All of the moto journals that once made this mistake of saying it was "mid-engined" have STOPPED" saying that. I guess the old addage is true... "It's easier to fool someone than it is to convince them they've been fooled, once you've fooled them". for point of reference, Ford actually claims a "Near 50/50 balance". What do you want to bet the majority is over on the front end?
The GTD Mustang Supercar used an 8 speed Transaxle DCT. The GT500 uses a 7 speed DCT. As Ford performance stated. The GTD's uses a special purpose 800+ Horsepower dry sump engine for setting a new sub 7 minute lap record at the Nurburgring. It's like a Ford GT Supercar with a Mustang body.
No one said anything about it being mid-engine. They said 50/50 weight distribution. I guess people hear what they want to and then make RUclips videos according to that.
Multiple social media and editorial outlets published stories about it. On the contrary, it seems some folks don't hear what people actually said and make RUclips comments according to their perspective.
Technically it is mid engine, front mid engine because the engine is in between the axels not over the front axle like all other mustangs. It’s similar to the c5-c7 corvettes.
I'm so glad to see someone finally mention this mechanically being constructed like a corvette I haven't had the oppurtunity to talk to an enthusiast about this car yet just fanbois and im not trying to say oh its just a vette copy cause it's not but it's a ford vehicle that finally throws a punch at a vette and its cool to see what is essentially a ford version of a c7 ZR1 and that shouldn't be seen as negative cause thats an amazing car
@@cameronvandygriff7048 so I believe I was wrong in my original comment. The engine does appear to still be over the front axle, But I agree. I am expecting c7 zr1/viper acr performance.
WHY IS FORD AFRAID OF GOING MID ENGINE ,,,,, CHEVROLET HAS ALREADY SEEN THE LIGHT . THEIR IS NO MORE TRACTION TO BE GAIN FROM THE FRONT ENGINE PLATFORMS,,, POSSIBLY ONLY WITH VERY HIGH TECH AWD SYSTEMS THAT WILL DEFINITELY COST MUCH MORE THAN JUST GOING MID ENGINE FROM SCRATCH .
What is the market for this thing, exactly? Just seems like 99% of the folks that would actually appreciate this car for it's actual purpose, it's basically unobtainable to and the 1% of the folks that can afford it... Why would they choose this over other options? I think Ford is a little out of touch with this one. There's no way this thing comes close to the GT2 NR time. Absolutely no way, and just getting a potentially barely sub 7 second time just ain't gunna cut it with that price tag. I'll reserve judgement until we get some times, but until then I'll hold it up as a car that's out of reach for the ones that would appreciate it and just an oversight to the ones that can.
There's nothing exceptionally new about the mustang design it just has 800 hp with fancy suspension. You could also get 2 or 3 corvettes for the same price. Or a Lamborgini with cash to spare on another car. but the biggest joke is people believing its mid-engine. lol
Or you could get 3 GT500's But....I wanna see what it can do first before I so quickly dismiss the GTD as dressed up Mustang with fancy suspension. The goods list and materials in this car says different.
Nobody In their right mind wants 3 Corvettes. Gross! I take the Mustang GTD any day over those. Why do people think everyone wants an old man's knock off Ferrari also known as the Corvette. I'll take a Ferrari any day over a Corvette. People who have supercars are buying the GT500 above sticker. So what makes you think that they won't buy a once in a lifetime investment just like the GT. Get your head out of the clouds and move your hate somewhere.

WORK OF ART!!

Its technically a front mid car, its not mid rear. Most people think of the latter so it may be worth clarifying.
I like how we lost pop-up headlights to pedestrian safety but all road going Ginsu collections are just fine.
Also why we lost tail fins in the 50's, but structural aero at ankle and eye height? Full send.
To be fair, I'm on the side of bringing back tail-fins
Nobody said it is mid engined!!! It’s close to 50/50 weight distribution because of a rear mounted DCT!!! Why are we bringing up mid engine?
Idk how this is a “supercar killer” when this is essentially a supercar
Wow!
At the end of the day if it gets me from point a to point b it’s a car

technically it is mid engine if the engine sits behind the axles

Ford GT, Porsche GT series, Carrera GT all come to mind...
Watch how fast Ford sells these cars.
300k and is it gonna get gapped by a hellcat?
It's lighter and more powerful than a hellcat. In addition, a regular Mustang GT can out-corner a Hellcat. It would have zero chance against the GTD
WOW DUMBER WORDS NEVER SPOKEN
What is a hellcat?
That’s the reason Dodge gave up. Couldn’t compete. This car is a HellStang not a kitten 🤷🏻♂️
Where.... on a track?
Educate yourself.

That's not a mustang😢
Ford can’t their regular mustangs to work. Why would anyone be stupid enough to spend 300,000 on one ?!
