1969 Ford Mustang Mach 40 Concept 5.4L Mid-Engine Build Project
Mustang Mach 40
Originally a 1969 Mach 1, the goal was to create a what-if mid-engine concept car. The idea: put a '69 Mach 1 and 2006 GT 40 super car together, incorporating the modern Ford technology into the body of a Mach 1.
The car was being built to be a one off, but also built to perform. The power train, a 5.4 liter dual overhead cam GT super car motor, was upgraded so it has a Wipple 4 liter super charge along with drive by wire throttle. In addition the motor was converted to a flex-fuel system.
The base horsepower can be dialed in, literally there is a dial control in the car, from 600 to 850 HP. It also has auto and manual traction control.
It was important to keep the body style a true-to-its-roots 1969 Mach 1, they did not want a modern looking car.

This is probably the only "mustang" in existence that I like. Some very talented people put this car together. Excellent, what more can I say.

I don't know why everyone keeps commenting on their opinion of the wheels. They are just an upscale version of 69 Mustang Mach 1 wheels. If it really bothers you guys this much, when you buy this car, which you won't be able too, its 20 lugs to change them to whatever you want. It's not the end of the world. This is the best built car I've ever seen shared, just amazing.
When you combine fine taste, talent and high skills, you can come up with a masterpiece like this! Great job!

What a Joy to see such fabulous work. Amazing fabricating by true craftsmen who can do anything with metal. A beautiful Mustang like no other anywhere made by anyone. There aren't enough complimentary things to say. I'm stuck on Amazing. The best of the best is a good description of this master piece of engineering and fabrication. Wish it was mine. Just to look at it gives me pleasure.

Gorgeous! My favorite year of the Mustang. My first car was a 69 Mach1 with the 351W 4bbl. Love watching the build, the attention to detail, the craftsmanship, the concept, and of course the performance. Just wished you would have left the clock in the passenger dash pod because it's a defining feature of the Mach1. I know, I know, no one's stopping me from building my own... Man, that car is sexy!
This makes me rethink my love for Chevrolet....

This is LITERALLY the most Beautiful thing I've ever seen in my life! My wife is a Total Smoke Show but I'd rather be in THIS than her! I've never believed in love at First sight but this video single handedly Shattered that belief! I need MORE! Where is this car now? Who owns it? WHO BUILT IT? How much to buy it? How much to just Stare and Drool on it!? I NEED Answers!

i see all these comments i don't like this or that or how it looks or the wheels look bad. That's fine if you don't like it go and build what you like and put it on RUclips . You should all be impressed with the build and skill it takes to make something like this .I will remember the tinfoil trick next time i'm marking a mold off a car that's been filled and built up .very nice job and well done guys
Martin....You took the words out of my mouth. The level of craftsmanship and detail, most folks would wish they had the ability to deliver, such a flowing masterpiece of perfection. She's Breath-Taking....dripping in silver no less!
It's just opinions. That's the whole idea of the comment section. There is no way I have the skill to build anything close to this car and It is without a doubt an amazing build. I love it! With that being said, I think the wheels look stupid and I don't like the color.

Love this, it's not just the amazing craftsmanship, but being able to imagine the concept and build it. I'd have kept the GT40 theme going on the wheels though, black 6 spoke with a silver spinner at the centre just like the originals. When I hit the lottery jackpot I'm getting one of these

That is pure artistry in iron right there! That is a serious amount of body work went into that "Mach 40"! It really does look like a perfect blend of a Mach 1 Mustang and a GT40!

This is incredible. The body lines have the flow of a Ford GT and at first I didn't like the wheels but they grew on me. I loved watching this video.

I love the low, lean body of the original mustangs, and it looks like this one takes that to a whole new level. I guess when you don't need to cram a massive V8 in the front, you can go to that extreme even harder here, and it looks great.

This car is soooo awesome, looks sweet, sounds mean, should handle well...............and then you see the TURRRIBLLLLLE interior and all the rest just gets watered down.
Nice money and time saver with the shaped foam and foil to get an idea of what the finished panels will look like. Hell of a lot cheaper than clay modeling!

I drove this in gran turismo.. This is the perfect balance for a mustang car. I wish they made more MR engine's layouts for mustangs.

The rims look like the come off a matchbox car. It doesn't fit the mustang at all.

THE NEW BENCH MARK! I am in total awe of your skills! The wheels are similar in design as to way back in about 73 I made the first lot of chrome 12 slot wheels down under when working for a wheel company! "MULLINS WHEELS" and over the years they have proven to be the biggest seller of ANY WHEEL in Australia, Not really sure though if I would have used them on this beautiful vehicle!
