Hey Gerard, I got mine a6700 and paired it with the latest Sigma 24 mm 1.4 art to get a 36 mm FF equivalent, and the results for portraits are impressive! I'm coming from an a6300, and basically, with the a6700, to do portraits I use the Wide area and AI autofocus to follow the human eye accurately.
What do you think of the A6700 coming from the A6300? I just made the move yesterday from the A6300 to A6700. Want to know what changes you felt were between both of them
Hi Gerald, my settings are very similar to yours as well. I do prefer to use the Group Display turned on since this camera for me is used for wildlife. I can quickly delete the whole grouped photos easily if all the images in that sequence sucks, which happens often with fast moving birds flying.
Thanks for the video. Very nice. Just a question, why you set the color space sRGB instead AdobeRGB? AdobeRGB color space has big range of colors. Thanks
Yes, correct, but sRGB is for online use and AdobeRGB is for printing. But if I want to print I just change the profile in Lightroom to adobeRGB If you edit and export in adobeRGB and upload to the internet you’ll see a difference in colour and contrast to you edit and vice versa if you print in SRGB
Is there a way to customize what is shown on the screen? I would love to have always the level+histogram, but I can't manage to display both at the same time
Great video, quick question do you think you can spot the difference between let say a raw file that is lossless compressed vs uncompressed? Thinking about pick up this camera but was a little worried about lossless compressed. Any info would be great ✌️
Nice video! Thanx for your great explanation! I am wondering one thing however. I don’t know if it’s a feature or a bug. But I notice that when I set the focus standard to the c3 button, it allows me to switch the ability to set the focus spot to another location using the wheel. When I press it again, it resets the position to the center of the screen, great! That’s what I expected to happen. However, when I do the same with rear2 button 1( center button) it behaves differently. Clicking it does sel focus point on/ off , but it doesn’t reset the position to the center, when clock twice, like the c3 button does. This is when both buttons are mapped to the same focus standard. Any idea if I’m doing something wrong, or it’s just the way it works?
Good to know quick run-through, Gerard. Thought you would have made the vid all in one take (kidding😊). Would have been much better if LCD screen had been a direct capture, or at least much larger in video, if that makes sense. Zebras show up early in vid before your explanation - thought that was an aberration at first. Does settings import/export work only for 6700 to/from 6700 units? Don’t understand why Apple preview not displaying RAW thumbnails, considering that JPG preview is built into RAW file. Android and IOS smartphones will display and edit Sony RAW ( at least from prior Sony models up to A6600). Have you tried loading/previewing RAWs from the 6700 on a smartphone native photo viewer/editor? Cheers!
Yeah max takes a while to preview the photos, I was going to externally record the a6700 screen but I just find watching people press the buttons I can keep up more, maybe that’s my Dyslexia ahahahah. You can load your settings from any newer Sony camera with the new menu, but things like LUTS won’t load from a a6700 to a A7IV ect
Does anyone know why continuous bracket mode has to be held down to fire all the shots desired? Just got the a6700, and it is making me hold down. Frustrating. I want to press once, and have camera fire off the brackets. The a6300 doesn't do this.
Normally in the Finder the raw file are not available as preview... this is why I also use RAW+JPEG because the JPEG have the preview as icon and is noce to recognize the picture in the finder.
How can I level up the frames per second like Camons cameras gave? 20 or 40 fps… Simple: buy one of these Canon cams…. This from a Sony user over 15 years….
Save to SD card it’s at the end of the menu called load settings, back the settings up to your computer so when you do a firmware update you can load your settings
You can view raw photos in the photos app on Mac. I was like “wait my iPad can view RAW files but not a full on Mac?” So why isn’t the “preview” app just as capable as photos app? No idea Apple, no idea…
ty so much for this guide i just switch from canon to sony with these new a6700. i very happy
Awesome

Yeah I mainly use wide for single subjects and tracking for multiple. That née sigma 24 mm slaps, but they do also have a APSC 23mm f1.4

You bro ik you don’t know me but I just basically got the same setup as you switching from a 6300 to the 6700 by any chance do you have an instagram?

Oh that’s what that is for, now I know and that makes sense
Please what lens do you recommend, for this camera. The goal is to create content and photograph the family.
Start with the 23mm f1.4 from sigma, that’s a great focal length for this type of photography
Will this save? I followed along on manual setting mode. Do I need to assign this or will it save under my manual dial for this camera?
Will the Sigma 28-70mm f2.8 DG DN Contemporary Lens for Sony E work with this a6700?
hey, i just got this camera as my first camera, and was wondering why does the camera zoom in a lot when i use manual focus when shooting photos?
Probably focus breathing from the lens mate

Great guide. I appreciate how you explained the settings. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!

Nah, I also wish this was an option would love to delete and add some info to the screen
Hello! Is there a way to turn off the red light on the left bottom corner of the camera?? Tia!
No I don’t think so, it’s annoying I know

Nah not at all, I use lossless compressed on my a7iv’s and never a full size raw. They is basically no difference
Which camera is best for videography and photography?
Confused between Sony a7c Or 6700
6700
A6700 is a better video camera than the A7c, but similar to the A7CII
Thank You So much ❤

Oh I have similar issues on this camera, I think they have a firmware update that fixed it

There is 2 modes for this, the second one down is self timer for 2, 5, and 10 seconds
how to access easily the custom look for Sony
just bought mine today. and i don't know what to do with the camera. 😀
Ahahahah, we have all been there. Kuta go out and shoot and in my camera guide I do talk about essential settings to setup to make photography easy
Why do you think that the raw files can't been seen on mac?
Takes a while fir max to update preview, took like 6 months for the A7iv
Normally in the Finder the raw file are not available as preview... this is why I also use RAW+JPEG because the JPEG have the preview as icon and is noce to recognize the picture in the finder.

This from a Sony user over 15 years….
Yeah Sonys frame rate system is really bad, no flexibility for all of the frame rates
Hi, how to save settings?
Save to SD card it’s at the end of the menu called load settings, back the settings up to your computer so when you do a firmware update you can load your settings
@@gerardneedham I try to save but sometimes all settings reset idk why

I dont get why this camera doesnt have uncompressed RAW....
Me too 😅
I Dont get why anyone need it. First setting to changed on Fuji - set RAWs to compressed.
