This was one of the last video I filmed in my old studio. I miss that place but I can't wait to show you guys my new setup 👀... video coming soon!
Looking forwards to see your new studio setup 😊👏🏻
Wow, thank you! We're honored that three of our lenses is amongst your top 5! 😀🤩 So glad you love (sorry, like 😉 ) them that much! And all photos in the video are fab, as always ☺
Half of my reason for clicking on this video is that i love when he says "Wurghuss". And 5:22 wasn't bad.
The accent's just so joyful to me
Is it when I say “workhorse”? 😂😂
I own 3 lenses for my a7III and im very happy that two of them are in your list! It really tells me that i made good decisions.
Thanks for the video ☺️
I’ve always gotten Sony cameras but I learned a lesson to really look at the specs of the lens to make sure it will be good for my camera. I want to get a 20mm f1.8 lens next! And thanks for introducing me to the mist filter! 🌀
Absolutely! The 20mm 1.8 is a great choice imo ☺️
Now I know you also use Sony APSC cameras so I'm really looking forward to a similar video for those. Of course, you could put any of these lenses on a Sony APSC and they should work fine - just the 1.5x factor on the focal length. That would mean with your lens no. 5 you would have a field of view equivalent to a 300mm lens when used on APSC.
Great job on the vide! Thanks for making it.
Good day, Mr. Hakonarson. Could you please compile a beginner's lens list for Sony APS-C cameras?
First video I’ve ever seen from you. Solid video, entertaining, and you have great presence. Liked & followed
Thank you! Appreciate that my friend ☺️🙏🏻
A huge fan of sigma toooo! and sir, your pictures are really drop dead gorgeous
Yea sigma make great glass! And thank you sir ☺️
Looking forward to The Darkroom. Dude, I have learned so much from you in my transition from photography hobby to obsession. Also....yes.....the metric system is exponentially better. Wish we used it here in the states.
Lens choices is a personal choice.
For me as hybrid these are my lens line-up
16-35mm f2.8 GMii
35mm f1.4 GM
85mm f1.4 GMii
With that range of focal i can cover all i needed without stressing so much money on my pocket.
And BTW I am also using 90mm f2.8 OSS Macro most of my Food and Product shoot.
😉
How do you like that 90mm macro? And I’m getting the 16-35 ii, tried it a few times and I think it’s so freaking good 😅
@@thaticelandicguy 16-35 is my go to VIDEO lens and about the 90mm its good enough for details provided you switch to MANUAL MODE for precision focus because the AUTO FOCUS use to HUNT all the time 😂😂😂
@@JuanOpinionPH will look into it. I'm on the hunt for an macro lens, for those product shots for my video :) Thanks for the tips man!
@@thaticelandicguy stay away from that 50mm macro of sony, 90mm is worth a buck 😉
Have you checked out the new sigma 28-105 f2.8? That would go well with the 16-28….i’m looking at replacing my Sony 24-105 f4 with it….I have the Sony 70-200 mii and the sigma 85mm and agree they are beautiful lenses….looking forward to hopefully joining your community my friend.
I had the OG GM 24-70 and that thing was heavy. But the new GM is one of my favorite lens. I know what you mean about people loving primes, I have some amazing ones but still prefer to just stick the GMii on my A7rv
I loved that diss to imperial system. It is really completely senseless to measure stuff in feet or pound.
I know 😂 so silly
I sometimes ask people how many cups are in a quart just to look at the confusion. Even people who live in the imperial system of measurement are baffled by it. I don't think most Americans even know how many grams are in an ounce, let alone how many ounces are in a pound. It's insanity.
When you’re undefeated in wars, you can choose what system you use 😂
@@SuperDrmojo lol so true 😂
I absolutlly love the 70-200 f2.8 for outdoor-/ sportsphotography, its awesome🤩
It’s insane, so much joy that piece of equipment has brought me lol 😂
Amazing video, you have great taste and (love) lol your humor. cheers bud
Thank you 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Awesome video - as always. I too am a Sony shooter. Quick question - have you compared that Sony 70-200 2.8 II with the Sigma 70-200 DG DN Art? If so ... thoughts?
Cheers!
Yea I have ☺️, I can’t see a difference in quality tbh, but the sigma is a lot heavier and a little bulkier
1:06 emphasize "wide" 🗿
Proceeds to zoom in a lil 🥲
I actually thought about that 😂. Once I posted thought, that was an editing mistake lol
9:56 My country use metric system but to be honest, it's easy to use metric for weight but not for distance or length. For example, I can easily tell if something is 'almost a kilogram' but it's actually hard to tell if something is '45cm from me'. Will be easier to say, 'something is 2 feet from me'.
Short distance I prefer imperial. Long distance I prefer metric.
Hahaha never thought of it like that 😂, maybe we should just mix it all and be friend lol
great video, with true reviews instead of hyping up a product without giving it a run for it's caveats. But you pointed out these are "affordable", well none of them seems very affordable if anything unless you're talking to someone whose three month income is enough to bank them a 600mm f4 lens without going broke.
My future plans are just keeping the Minolta 50mm 1.7 and Minolta 1.4 85mmG because they have crazy micro contrast and 3d pop (common with DSLR lenses, since they're further away the light of far away out of focus is dimmer by default, inverse square root related) and get a Sigma 24-70 f2.8 II, a 70-200 from sigma too (the one that looks like a GM II) and a Sony 200-600.
Of all these three I plan about, the Sigma 70-200 seems to be the most affordable one, it is better built than the GM ii and costs 1000 bucks less while delivering the same performance, other than limiting to 15fps if you're using an A9/A1 family which, all things considered, nobody who uses an A9 or an A1 will use third party lenses.
My do it all is the Tamron 35-150 2-2.8. I only have more lenses to have something smaller
If you want save money on one lens i suggest to try Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 di iii vxd g2, it`s cheaper in lighter than Sigma and Sony :)
Never tried it! You have it? If so is it as good? Sounds interesting ☺️
@@thaticelandicguy Yes, I have one, I use it with Sony a7c II, very sharp lens, autofocus is very good. The only thing is that it is not 24 mm, but 28, it is not so wide. But it weighs 540 grams, so when I was choosing, I looked at the Sigma, but its weight is 840 grams, the choice fell on the lighter Tamron.
really nice video, but i own the a6400 so these full frame lenses wouldnt really work for me. I currently own the SEL70-350 and the sigma 18-50, what would you recommend me to get next? I really want to get into astrophotography so i thought about the sony 11mm f1.8. But what would you recommend?
Those two are great! I have them too for my a6700 ☺️.
Hmmm I’m not that much of an astrophotographer, so I’m not sure. But I’ve tried the 11mm 1.8 and it’s great. A really fun and a small lens
Great video! It provided some interesting insights about lenses. I'd rather not ask how much they cost. 🙈
Way to much 😅😂
Very informative video! i am a canon guy myself, really eyeing and 15-35 lens but them prices… oof. such a rewarding but expensive hobby.
Tell me about it, it’s way too expensive lol
The only one I have is the 70 200, I can confirm it’s very good. And it feels light compared to the 200 600 !
Yea that one is so good, really like it! And agree super light for the size ☺️
Do list for APSC please!!!!!!
I guess if you can omit the 16mm of the 16-28 and want the 35mm, you could use the Tamron 20-40 F2.8?
Good video but I would prefer more video examples to the lenses 🎥 I am a Sony shooter too 😅 FX6 & ZVE1
I want this 😊
which one? :)
For APSC could this list be something like this?
1. Sigma 10-18 f/2.8
2. ???
3. Sigma 18-50 f/2.8
4. Sigma 56 f/1.4
5. Probably there is not an equivalent (Sony 70 - 200 f/2.8 GM II)
I have an apsc lens video here somewhere, but a zoom that’s nice for apsc is the 70-350, so light!
@@thaticelandicguy thanks, I will have a look!
1. Sigma 18-50
2. Sigma 56mm
3. Sony 11mm
4. Sony 70-350
5. Viltrox 27mm
1. Sony 20mm 1.8,
2. Sigma 56 1.4,
3. Sony 16-55 2.8,
4. 70-350.
My A6700 is happy.
2. Sigma 45 f 1.4 ?
3. Tamron 17-70 f 3.8
5. Tamron 70-180 f2.8
Tamron 20-40mm F2.8 it's never off my camera because it can shoot most things. I have a A7R5 so can punch in to 60mm
Never tried that one, need to get my hands on it to test ☺️. Thanks for the suggestion!
@@thaticelandicguy I video/ photo interiors building products people you name it. I used to travel with lots of primes, but wanted to be able to work faster, instead of continually changing lenses, so this range is the only one that would do all that work.
Nearly all my work is now social media and almost all is wanted vertical so this lens works for this very well
Why do you own the 2.8 version of the 70-200 when you only use it for landscape photography? Especially when you own the 85/1.4.
It’s a good question, I wanted the mark 2 because it’s a lot lighter than M2.If I can then I try to buy the best. I will own this lens for a very very long time. And I want to be able to take some really good portraits if the situation arise, which happens every now and then ☺️
@@thaticelandicguy I can understand you completely. Thanks for the answer.
Gorgeously lenses that all filmmakers dream lens. Haha! And less your lens and cams in your bag, you might get hunched. I care, no worries, mate. Haha, I love you! Hahahahahahaha
Sigma 24-70mm DG DN is not over a kilo it's 830g. MarkII is even lighter at 745g
You are right, just double checked my bad. Well it’s one of my all time favourites and i still use it daily. Haven’t tried the new version yet though ☺️ have you?
@@thaticelandicguy It's alright, we all make mistakes.
Nah, I still use the old version. It has served me well so far
"the heaviness is a plusness, understand ?" that's what he said. Obviously spoken from the view point of someone with youth. Don't neglect the folks over 50 years please.
😂 well I’m in the middle of having small kids so I feel well over 50 now
Great video but sorry to disagree, I have had 2 sony lenses including the 85mm sigma lens and they dont compare to the Sony 85mm GMii etc...... I personally wont buy anything other than GM lenses worth the extra money in my opinion.
I’m American and this video offends me 😡
…jk loving the jokes. I’m half Mexican so I’m used to metric system 😂 enjoying the content btw!
Lol 😂 yea I can’t understand the us system
5 lenses are a lot. They are not "the only 5 you need" 😂😂😂
I know i know, its just a title for the tube ☺️
