The 'Emphasized REC Display' is genius! Thanks for pointing out this feature. I shoot exclusively 'PP-11', S-Cinetone'. My videos are strictly 'home movies', and I don't really like doing a lot of grading in post. I also appreciate you pointing out the 'Different Set for Still/Mv'. I already had all 'checked' but had forgotten why. Hey! I'm 70 years old. LOL! I really appreciate you explaining your choices. Some, just say, 'change this setting' and never explain why and what benefit it has. Thanks!
Came here specifically to find out about the setting for different settings for photo to video, was sick of seeing photo mode load in S-Log picture profile. Thank you! 6:29
confused between sony a7c and a6700. i know both are different in budget & sensor size. still for short films which one will be better from all aspects
Brilliant this. If you always shoot in SLOG3 then would you set the exposure compensation to 1.7 and store this in all memory slots so you do not forget when switching? Also, how come you use the Picture Profile to set SLog and not 'Log Shooting: On (Flexible ISO) with the Color Gamut set to S-Gamut3.Cine/S-Log?
50 fps 1/100 in the Pal area .... NTSC would have been 60 fps - 1 / 200 shutter ... I got a bit confused for a while but later figured it out. Does 10 bit make a huge difference as compared to 8 bit?
Great paced tutorial Curtis, very succinct and informative. Just got a 67' and the AF is blowing away my Fuji XH2S, so that's off to the auction. Also paired the 67' with the Siggy 18/50 and that is fantastic bang for a just a few bucks.
Where did you find the overlay that looks like old film scratches? Also... thanks for making the video. I bought this as a travel camera, opposite the a7iv and xh2 I lug around for work. Also... at those settings can you use v60 uhsii cards? Or do you need v90? Thanks again. Great video
Hello Curtis. Nice presentation here! I've watchet very interested because intend to buy this "beast". When you think that the crop factor is to be taken into account. When we use APS-C lenses on an APS-C body or when we use FF lenses on an APS-C body. Thank you!
How is overheating? I live in a tropical/humid place and I was thinking either this or the Lumix s5ii for mostly photos and some videos on the side I want to be sure that I’m making the right choice and will future proof myself. Ik that the lumix is having a sale where u can get it for $2049 with 20-60 kit lens and a 50mm 1.8 and with the Sony if I get it body alone with the sigma 18-50mm and 30mm it will be $2200
I haven't experienced any problems with overheating. Personally recommend this over Lumix but that's just my opinion. Hope that helps and enjoy your new Camera, which ever you decide to go for! 😁📸
Good and useful video. Just wonder what video and picture settings would you recommend for someone who doesn't have all the time of the World to post process his videos or edit all of his photos in Lightroom. Thanks
Brilliant video and I set the camera as suggested. I'm struggling to play back recorded video from the camera, should you use a V60 or V90 SD card or do you think it could be down to the computer software?
Any fixes as to why I can’t load 10-bit video into Davinci Resolve? The media file shows in the timeline but the video does not play, only the audio. Thanks!
@@CurtisPadley Alright, thank you. I will get the A6700, hopefully i won‘t regret it. But i’m sure the camera won‘t disappoint🙌🏻 I was just looking around to see if there are better deals in that budget range because of Black friday and cashback. There should be, right? Maybe you know any cameras that are even better than the 6700
Two very different cameras with huge price differences. It really depends what you need and want from a camera. My usecase could be completely different to mine. The video specs are much better on A6700 whilst the A7RIV has that insane sensor for photography.
Perhaps you could make a video around or answer this question. Can you be a professional photographer with using just an APSC camera like A6700 alone ?
Curtis your videos are awesome brew. Just a question are you using a teleprompter when making your videos. Just wondering because you flow naturally and if that was me I would have stumbled over my words. God bless and always look forward to your content. Hey, if you’re ever in Western Australia let me know. Cheers.
Thanks John! I'm not using any teleprompter, I have notes on my phone because for this video there is a lot to remember. Awesome to hear my videos flow naturally 🤙🏻
just got the camera, still waiting for a lens to arrive. I set up the camera per your settings so they better be good!!!! 🤣 Great video mate, thanks for the help and explanations
I need help. I got my a6700 one month ago and now I noticed over 10 pixel errors only on the monitor. Viewfinder and pictures are alright. What can I do about that? Is it normal or is it a no go?
The no 2 doesn’t allow us to change F and shutter speed in video mode The no 3 doesn’t allow us to change iso and shutter speed in photo mode if I am not mistaken (just like auto) No 1 and 2 in photo mode can’t record video But no 3 in photo mode allow us to record video So no 1 and no 2 are good for photo mode No 1 is good for video mode Or all of this only in my A6700?
Possible how your camera is just setup. Which is rather different from how they normally come setup as standard. Make sure you are in manual mode. In auto, P, A or S modes you won't be able adjust some of these parameters
Yeah, I always ask myself whether I'm listening too slowly or the photographers speak so fast (all of them actually, check out the other tutorials available on RUclips)
I slow down the video on a lot of them, especially when I need to really pay attention, and take notes. Yeah, our language should be called American, instead of English. 😅
High quality post, useful info capably presented by high-energy, delightful host!👍 Settings rationales explained, great tips, Curtis! Animated graphics a plus. Unique humor - airplane mode for drone shots😁. Well behaved dog - could become a channel mascot? My first encounter w/active AF illuminator was at a dark billiards hall - tough looking dudes asked me to turn off the red spotlight, so I did😁 no kidding. Thought your default focus target would be “trains”/trams. Tip: “Secret” settings menu in photo mode. Keep tapping the Display button on dial until you cycle through to the display that does not show live mode. Looks like a useful but static chart of various settings. Tap the Fn button and one of the settings will “light up”. Use the dial to change the value of the setting. Tap dial navigation buttons (top, bottom, left/right) to move to a different setting. Press Fn button to go back to static display. The feature is in all A6000 series, I believe - was meant to simulate display on DSLRs and ease transition to mirrorless, as I understand. (Might make a cool short vid.) Cheers!
Why would you cheap out on cards 💀💀 if you can afford a $1400 camera the least you could do is pick up a uhs-II 64gb for like 65 bucks. V90 you can do continuous shooting in photography which is godsend to hold it down and it not slow down.

Please what lens do you recommend, for this camera. The goal is to create content and photograph the family.
Sigma 18-50 and SIgma 56 :)

Hi man nice job 👌🏻 how did you get the red shutter button? It’s so cool 😎😅
How did you put the red shutter button on it?
This
50 fps 1/100 in the Pal area .... NTSC would have been 60 fps - 1 / 200 shutter ... I got a bit confused for a while but later figured it out. Does 10 bit make a huge difference as compared to 8 bit?
Can you use these settings with the Sony FX30, even though it's not really a photography camera but they have the same sensor at least.
I'm pretty sure you could, there maybe some slight differences but majority should be same! 📷
Thank you Curtis!@@CurtisPadley

Appreciate this Curtis, just got my 6700 so still diving into to it. Im thinking to get the 10-18 Sigma as well
Hey ! Do you never use the viewfinder to photograph with your A6400 ? I don’t see any time you use it in you POV ?

Can we change font size? They seems smaller than zve10 on shoot display menu

Do you know if it is possible in auto shooting mode to change default setting iso auto 6400 to lower value?
This helped a ton, thank you!
Question, how well does that sticky on shutter button hold?
What memory cards do you recommend/use please?
How to custom that what appears on the function menu
@@imgtutorials1260 Explained in the video my friend 🙌
@@CurtisPadley thanks My friend very helpful

V90. Don’t cheap out. It’s the card being too slow.
5:30 WONDERFULL - keep up the good work
Fantastic video, appreciate you sharing your knowledge.
what is that red button cover?\
I’ll have to watch again in slow motion!
Good idea. Here's another maybe use the pause function 💡
Any fixes as to why I can’t load 10-bit video into Davinci Resolve? The media file shows in the timeline but the video does not play, only the audio. Thanks!
I think you have to pay if using the free version
This camera or the Sony A7C for 261€ less? There are some good deals now with black friday and Sony cashback.
The 6700 does not have any sale offers
Sony A6700 in my opinion, you get better video specs and the new Ai processor for Autofocus 📸
@@CurtisPadleySo glad you’ve said this as I picked up the a6700 over the a7c

anyone know how to change the shutter button in sony a6700, thank u
Both xavcs and xavchs have 100mbps at 4K. Won’t the xavchs store more data to better h265 compression?
Thank you for this video. Can you please confirm how you added the red shutter button please.
Perhaps you could make a video around or answer this question. Can you be a professional photographer with using just an APSC camera like A6700 alone ?
A6700 is the sony diamond tip of his apcs camera. It’s a beast, yes for professional use, if you know how to use it WELL…
Did you have any problems on the camera overheating
From my hands on experience, no have not ran into any issues.

Thank you for this amazing tutorial!!
Thanks, very useful info.
How do I disable taking 3 pictures every time, this happens either in apperture mode, manual etc.
You need to update shooting mode to single. I think you presently has bracket mode - mid or H+
just got the camera, still waiting for a lens to arrive. I set up the camera per your settings so they better be good!!!! 🤣 Great video mate, thanks for the help and explanations

Contact Sony for repair
Ok The switching between menus was so fast that I couldn't follow while also trying the settings on my phone.
while i was watching this video, i realized my photos and videos should capture the moment than worry about what settings real photographers would use
While I was watching this video I realized I was not close to being ready to watch this video
Extremely useful video 👍
What red shutter button is that?
The no 2 doesn’t allow us to change F and shutter speed in video mode
The no 3 doesn’t allow us to change iso and shutter speed in photo mode if I am not mistaken (just like auto)
No 1 and 2 in photo mode can’t record video
But no 3 in photo mode allow us to record video
So no 1 and no 2 are good for photo mode
No 1 is good for video mode
Or all of this only in my A6700?

How do I turn off the intelligent auto in my camera? I am looking everywhere in the internet🥹
nice, will purchase a6700 this week

Lots of good tips but could slow down a bit!
Yeah, I always ask myself whether I'm listening too slowly or the photographers speak so fast (all of them actually, check out the other tutorials available on RUclips)
I slowed down the playback speed and turned on the closed captions - separation of a common language! He’s almost speaking American😊

This is gold.
You putting the 6400 aside for this one?
I don't currently on this camera, but would like to soon! I'll be using A6400 even when I get A6700 😁
I'm brand new to the Sony menu ecosystem... I'm just going to customize my 6700 the way you have yours and learn from there 😊
