  • @vexed008
    @vexed008 3 года назад +10

    Glad someone has done the comparison. I'm having this exact dilemma. I want the more sporty version being the RS, however the silver/red/blk paint scheme on the tuono is much more appealing to me. Here in the US the RS is a little more difficult to find at dealerships because they sell out almost immediately, so pre-order is a must. The proper wind screen on the RS on the open roads in the US may be more helpful with a mid-weight bike. Flickability is really nice to have and could be life saving in certain situations I've noticed, my prior bike being a scrambler. The quick shifter and auto blipper would also be nice to have standard. The price difference, always nice to have lower price but now I suppose I know why. Still can't decide arghh...

      I want either of them but I'm very concerned about the reliability. Now if Japan would copy it, say Yamaha. Then with the wheelie control & build quality I would sell a body part to get it. The RS660 is gorgeous.

    Thanks for the comparison review; two great bikes. I commented after your last Tuono review that it would be a difficult decision splitting the two - so it proved. I said on balance I’d take the RS for its enhanced electronics and the fact the riding position isn’t that radical for a sports bike. Your point about middleweight bikes with a good power spread in today’s camera-infested UK is very valid. However, I overlooked your point about the RS having more ‘space presence’ is equally valid; thanks. Lots of riders might feel short changed trading down to a ‘smaller’ bike, even though the engine and bike dynamics are bang on. Onwards and upwards for Aprilia, methinks.

    again don't stop the bike, how much room under seat. Are their any luggage mount holes under the seat like the Kawasaki z600. other than that i bought the 300 Honda which is good fun to the shops. get ya chops out next time. (I'm thinking which one to add to my collection

    £500 you get an 6 Axis IMU with all the electronics benefits, quick-shifter, better front suspension, debatably 5hp more.
    RS660 is arguably better value for money...

      Agreed 100%. The RS is far better value for money. One has to wonder if you could put a straight bar kit on the RS660..

      I have thrown a leg over both of them. As I am 45, the RS might be uncomfortable in the long run, but it's better value as you say. I see you have a Street Triple like me. Though I really fancy these two bikes, I'm not sure whether I'd prefer either one over a Street Triple RS..

    Great vid... I'm foxed... How can electronics detect that the bike is wheelieing and let it, and not loosing grip on the rear? Can't be pitch, as if yr going up hill HT wouldn't work... Sensors in the front forks to show that the wheel has dropped and is weightless? U seem an intelligent guy.... ☺

    • @WL2K
      @WL2K 2 года назад

      The Inertial Measurement Unit does all that, with gyroscopes and accelerometers. Pitch, lean, yaw, front vs rear wheelspeed

    Funny, just fitted a translogic quickshifter to my GSXS750, it does add to the sense of occasion and fun for sure! Not fussed about the blipper though, it's more fun doing it yourself but def agree IS a toy that's nice to have (like my S1000R had) . I think the Tuono has a deeper more gutteral tone by comparison, seems to from the videos anyway. Another great video Chops! 👌😎

    Want an rs660 so bad, not just because it's brand new either..from what reviews are saying you can't buy anything similar really. You've either got the bikes like the r7 sv650s which are too similar ergo wise to the supersports and you won't ride them for more than an hour (coming from experienced advice) or they are faired commuter bikes like the cbr650r. Is buying a bike on finance really that terrible an idea ? Maybe I could spin it to myself as a credit builder haha?

    I've been thinking about one of these as my next bike but for not much more can buy a street triple RS. So was thinking that's the bike for me coming from a fireblade and wanting something with less power and more comfort but the TFT dash on the current STRS is that bad its almost a deal breaker.

  • @nickthequick
    @nickthequick 3 года назад

    I noticed your knee was at a very acute angle on the RS (12:01), so comfort must have been compromised. Any comparison to the Tuono?

    • @LambChopRides
      @LambChopRides  3 года назад +1

      It's probably the 360 camera.. its not too bad at all on your knees. Yes it's sporty but much better than a supersport
