Guess you were first
Yammie, I know that u know more about motorbikes than I ever can dream off but based on your comparison of the trident and the rs 660, I have to say it isn't a fair judgement. Simply because I own a trident and I can say, that based on the 4000 rpm flashing lights means that you got that trident on the breaking engine mode. Am I wrong??? You can disable that, it's on the bike settings. Disabled it and try it out. It's like a pocket rocket. Let me know.
Can you please compare the new 2021 Mt07 and the trident ? And also can you compare the svartpilen 701 and supermoto 690? Cheers :)
yammie, can you make a review on chinese bike? the clx700
That is ABSOLUTELY the best transition into the best manscaped ad i've ever seen! Oh, and the video is good too.
No matter how much he tells me not to buy an Aprilia RS660 as my first bike.....im absolutely going to buy one as my first bike this year 🤣🤣🤣
Do it, as long as you're responsible. It has a ton of safety features, the ability to drop the power why you first learn, looks amazing, and you will pretty much never grow out of it like you would a lot of other 650/660 bikes. Just get frame sliders! Dont want to scratch it if you drop at a slow speed
Im doing the same but going the Tuono route. Switching from dirtbikes and use to the torque with 450's, just different terrain now! Lol
@@MooseMoto7 off road I assume? If so, you have rules to follow, idiots texting their boyfriend, snapchatting their BFF Jill, eating a big Mac, and putting her make up on, that you must avoid. I feel it makes a difference tbh
You and I both! Lmao. Got my MSF cert back in September, been waiting out winter and plan on getting mine in late March. I am personally not interested in getting a second bike, I'd rather just get the one I'd want for a long time. Gonna get the frame sliders and keep it in Commute mode for the first few months probably.
@@starztrukk I didn't get an RS 660 because where I live there isn't any with 600 miles but I did end up getting a 2021 ninja 650 brand new in july!
Being a taller rider I really like anytime Spite gives his tall dude opinions, speak your mind my man!
Ye legit I’m 6,4 and it is really nice to get the opinion of a tall person
Dude!!! I hate when some dude goes “this is the perfect sized bike and I’m 5’7!” That truly boils my blood! Yea all of tall bros are thankful
For spite!
@@ryanbaxter1627 same
Finished the MSF class and got the Trident as my first bike - feels totally manageable for a brand new rider, and definitely has enough power for me right now. Was a little nervous to hop on 80hp after only riding the rebel 250s in my class but its really a comfortable ride. Super happy with it!
Good to hear it's manageable, How's the bike been treating you since?
Been looking at first bikes myself for a while now and the Trident Is on my potential buy list :)
I'm going for my Learner Lessons next week, super excited to start riding with my mates who already have bikes.
Did you take the Harley MSF course? I have mine coming up in 3 weeks because it’s the only one close to me and I got 50 % off. Curious as to what bike they are going to put me on.
Very nice. I started on a Suzuki sfv650 gladius about 3 years ago and looking to get a second bike. I’ve been looking at a few liter bikes because I need a bit more power on the highway than my sfv650.
@@keltecdan Why do you "need" more power than the SFV650 has for highway riding? That bike will easily do 120mph (I used to have an SV650). *Wanting* more power is one thing, but nobody needs to go faster than early triple-digits on public roads.
@@Cheezmonka The RPM’s are a little high up and I don’t want to do a sprocket change to sacrifice low-mid range power for top end power. I’m not looking for face melting 200hp type power just a little bump from 75hp. I’m looking at either a Ducati monster 821 or Yamaha MT09.
I just did the first night of my motorcycle safety course, every time my instructor said something it was something I’d already heard from watching these videos. I’ve been a fan for a couple years now and I’m finally getting on a bike! I can’t thank you enough Papa Yam, keep up the good work:)
The commerical was great .. lol a great laugh over this ...
The green light on the RS660 dash will constantly make me feel like the bikes in N even tho I might be in gear at a stop.
YES!!!!
Sorry but the only weed wacker that I could imagine Spite using would be made by Ryobi. 🤣
Im super happy with my trident 660 - first bike ever :)
Same!
Me too!
The trident is a good bike period. Great choice for advanced riders that know they don't need more than 80hp.
Glad to hear this. I have been riding on the road for almost 40 years and I pick up my Trident on Saturday.
I just got the trident 660 yesterday, its my first bike and I'm loving it.
I was waiting for this one!
I've been looking at the Aprilia as my second bike. Thanks for the video!
Sounds like they both do exactly what they were intended to pretty well. Maybe there is an interesting comparison for each of these to the Honda CB650R and CBR650R.
That riding position on the CBR650R is a tad bent over and aggressive. Feet back and all. The Trident is very much neutral and upright. 4 banger vs. Triple...they make their power in very different ways. Depends on how you want to ride.
@@stanleyblazeraznik6047 I think he was saying the CBR650R for the Aprillia and the CB650R for the Trident which is a much more similar bike
Even my CB650R is pretty sporty actually.
My second bike (once I actually get enough garage space lol) will be something faired, the Aprilia or the R7 most likely. My heart wants a Ducati Pani V2 tho ❤️
Someday (when I can afford the insurance and maint)
@@cccycling5835 u think the 650r is a good beginner bike for a responsible person
My first bike was a 2017 Cbr500r and now I own a cb650r.. that’s the perfect bike..
Had a cbr650f and now a ninja 1000. The cbr was a lot of fun. You could push it and it would perform. Perfect for long distance riding.
39 years old 6'2 and 210 lb body builder Trident for a first bike with only parking lot riding experience. I struggled finding a "beginner" bike at my size and build. After a week I'm am 100% confident in my choice. Bike is smooth and forgiving yet reminds you to be respectful of what's at your disposal. The sound is amazing. Clutching is super forgiving, ride quality for me is very comfortable. It feels like a "grown up" bike that won't bust your back on bumps. Pretty easy to slide back on the seat to dip into corners. I have no desire to rip around like I'm on a track but like to have a fun ride. So far very happy. Being a naked bike, you feel all the wind everywhere but the bike feels solid and planted at speed. Honestly I like it because feeling all the wind just helps you realize how fast you are actually going which to me increases the fun factor.
11:35 the porcshe wanted a race 😂😂😂
No it knew yammie was near and trembled in fear
anyone: how many RS 660 videos do you want to make?
Yammie: YES
Just great! Keep it up😁😁😂
Thank you for this Video. I was on the edge to between a RS660 and the Trident for my first Bike. This helped
i got to test ride the trident last week. i'm 33 and got my endorsement about 5 months ago. you guys are spot on about the trident's power. it's definitely jerky at the beginning. i don't recommend it for a younger or less responsible rider. i can't speak much for top end power because the bike only had 20 miles on it so i didnt want to ring it out. probably my mistake but the flashing tachometer threw me off. i thought it was the bike telling me it was about to blow up if i didnt reduce RPMs. plenty capable for freeway riding.
my absolute favorite part of the bike is the comfort. the ergonomics were perfect for me at 5'10" 180lbs
Nice review. How about comparing the Trident to Withney's 701 Svartpilen?
Yes!
I second that motion
Just love my RS , it's just amazing. I use to own the Ninja 900 1986 (the one in the Top gun movie) .
That was 30 years ago , i decided this year to get back on the saddle and my attention quickly got on the RS.
Got my drivers licence, and waited on your evaluation before giving my cashdown. And i dont regret buying it ,
and i woud say that Spite input was also real good for me being 6"! 220. Keep up the good work boys!
I know this is an old post but you have any reliability issues on the RS?
Man this series is awesome. Not even watched it but both bikes I’ve got my eye on.
I’m 6.2” used to ride a RS125 twenty years back. The Triumph still looks the one.
Went from wanting a BMW S1000RR as a first bike, to a ZX-6R, to as RS660, to a KTM 390🤣🤣
this is the damn video i needed if had the mon for any of those (wich i will cause im saving ) thanks yamster and team
i love seeing videos like these cause they make me look stupid for jumping on a zx10 to learn on lmao didn’t die or drop it just gotta respect your machine
My first road bike was a 2001 Kawasaki 1100 ZRX that my older brother let me have and I enjoyed it. But I grew up riding dirt bikes so brap brap!
Good stuff, thanks! Pokey...I always thought that meant slow, but are you using it for the opposite of that Spite? Confuses me when you say it's like a pokey 650. I thought it would be more peppy than one.
The Tuono 660 would be a better match against the Trident, I think?
Maaaan that ape is cool. Wish they’d put out one that’s a true middleweight but it’d be a sick second bike. It’s not necessarily about how much power but how it makes it.
I need to learn to check my tire pressure more after winter storage. Been riding on 12lbs out of 40lb psi needed in the rear wheel. No wonder it felt weird in traffic but not at 200kph
What about a comparative between the trident 660 an the tuono 660?
Whats really funny is these are the EXACT two bikes i was choosing between and have decided to go with the Trident. I am a fairly experienced rider with my first two bikes being a Ninja 636 and R6 back in the late 2000s. So i've haven't really rode in almost 10 yrs. I'm looking for something I can ride everyday if wanted and something more comfy. Also I just LOVE the look of the Trident. Don't get me wrong I like my 600cc super sports but i'm almost 40 and I would rather not be more comfortable these days. Lastly the I believe the Trident is just a great deal at $8500 bucks!
Can still tell when that Aprilia's rear brake is engaged. Anyone ever figure that out
Best motorcycle content on RUclips

Thanks great information additional brake light for the America’s market ?
Damn!!! that SV 660 looks soo good... Gladius FTW :D
gsxr 250 fast
only fast in 6 gare
And going dawnhil
That 660 is too sexy, def getting it as my first bike
right there with you man
Don’t. Too extreme for a first.
Been riding 20yrs, well over 150k miles under my belt. If you reeeally want the aprilia, do this: get a 500, ride it a few thousand miles, then sell it and get what you want. You’ll stand a much better chance of surviving your first few years.
Cuz yeah, those are the stakes.
@@TwinTalon01 I'm good, I'm an older beginner rider and I've been driving manual cars for a decade. If I die I'll let you know.
@@TwinTalon01 I started on a ZX6R. If your safe and take the time to learn the fundamentals, you can learn on anything. Suggesting someone doesn't because the likelihood of a mistake goes up is one thing, but telling someone to not do it is way too subjective. Just because one person can't, doesn't mean another can't.
The problem with buying a 250 or 400 is that your going to outgrow it and get sick of it in a few months and not a few years and be ready to upgrade to something like a 650. So my advice start with the 650.
Not everyone gets bored that quick, but I understand your point.
I had my 250 for like 9 years until it got stolen. Even though it would be cool to have more, I never felt like I needed it. It was definitely enough for a commuter bike and still fun.
yeah if you have a background in other bikes and plan on more than just around town youll burn out quick on small bike.......for a store runner or live in small tight community its perfrect for short trips to store, errands, etc,
I got the z900 for my first bike and hsve had it for 2 years. Love it
Yam, you are the GOAT!
Yammie exhaust coming for the 660's right?
First bike CRF 250RL Rally (still have), second bike CRF 1100 DCT Africa Twin
I’m sure that a remap of the throttle will sort it out. Make it a little more Triumph 👍
I am taking my motorcycle course soon (have had and rode dirt bikes before) but got my first bike for a good deal, a buell x1 lightening, and was wondering if i should keep it or sell it instead of riding it as my first real bike
Back when i was a little whipper snapper everyone of my friends were getting kx80's yz80 and what not and then my dad purchased my CR250R I was scared to death on it and rode it in first gear forever but eventually became comfortable and i gotta tell you i was so happy to be on that 250 just destroying my buddies on those 80's. If I was getting something it would for sure be a RS660 but I'm also not young and dumb anymore.
I’m entered for the trident. I’ve been simping hard for it since I first saw it. Even if I don’t win, I will be upgrading from my cb300r to the trident. It will just take longer if I have to buy it
First ad in a long time i actually watched (the man scaped one)
Yammie, can you please do a comparison of the Trident 660 vs the current SV650? Thanks
Is the flickering dash on the trident just the camera frame rate meshing with the led dash?
It’s a “running in feature” it can be disabled in settings. But it’s just for properly breaking in the bike.
I started on a R1-98 no problems! But I like a challenge when I do things.
Kids don't do this just saying 😂
Been mobbing around on my ninja 400 for about a year now. Starting to yearn for more powah. Still so much the ninja can teach me though.
That being said I hope to ascend to a striple R one day.
Do you guys plan to pickup a Tuono 660? I just pulled the trigger on baby Tuono as my second bike coming from a CB500F...the Honda was very good to me for two seasons but now I'm 300 miles into the Tuono and am in love. I was actually planning to get a Trident as bike #2 but after test riding the Tuono I couldn't stop thinking about how it felt and went back to claim it two days later LOL.
I’m planning on going from a *YZF-R125* (125) to the *RS 660* as my second bike.
Not sure how wise that is.. but, that’s the plan.
Depends in the lessons. If you make the german licence you can handle 80 hp
Say "sublime" again one more time!
Both great bikes, but there’s a pretty big price difference between them. I’d take the Trident and save over £3000 (UK prices).
Unpopular opinion: MT-07 is better entry level bike than Trident
a) cheaper (if you buy used bike its waaay budget friendlier than Triumph)
b) good for riders with A2 licence - easy to learn and handle
c) if you get over it, the price of used MT-07 doesnt drop that much
drawbacks of MT-07
a) suspension kinda sucks (i have 2019 model)
b) motorcycle is overall shaky and sometimes you lose confidence in the bike
c) sound is sooo baad stock, definitelly buy an exhaust
d) for some people lack of power, for me it is more than enough - you can use the whole spectrum of power when you ride and it is still controllable and fun
Even tho the Triumph overall looks like more complex motorcycle with the suspension, brakes and with that amazing design, I would still suggest buyinig an MT-07. If you are 18-19 years old and you want to entry motorcycle world, MT-07 is an excellent option and you have a pretty good chance of buying a solid used bike, with undestructable engine, which you either love or hate. If you are older and want bike in middle class with amazing design, more mature throttle - go for Triumph, but in my opinion, young riders dont have that much money for buying not so cheap motorcycle as Trident 660.
Thats my opinion about an MT-07 vs Triumph Trident 660.
Have a great day fellas
Dang, those scooters have really taken over downtown
I already pre booked the Aprilia rs 660. Still waiting for it for two months now 😅
It's worth it
When u guys gonna put a full exhaust system on the Aprilia, cuz I really want to hear that engine note nice and loud.
Triumph should really make a Trident R with another 20hp and a hotter throttle map. I think there’s a big enough distinction in character between it and the striple for that to work.
Or @ least a sport mode @ the very minimum 🤷🏻♂️
My first bike was a ninja 250 02 then graduated to a zx-6r 01 - loved that bike but wanted more power and got myself a car 929 that I own till this day. Probably many other better bikes out there but I love my CBR. Would be awesome to you review a cbr 929 954 compared to today’s newer technology bikes.
Would the Trident 660 compare better to the Tuono 660?
I'm either getting Yamaha FZ, Ducati Monster or just some scrambler build bike.
That Triumph Trident 660 looks nice.
I like the snappy feel of the 07 then the trident
MT 07, Trident 660 or a Ninja 650 for my 2nd bike? Looking to upgrade from my ktm 390
Had yesterday my first ride on the RS660.
And it's amazing. Easy to handle, is directly on gas but smooth, u don't hang on you're wrists. It's an easy bike but the power to go fast when needed. Low rps when driving 100kmp/h in 6th.
It wil and shall be my first bike. It's just amazing. More a sport tour. But it's a fine Machine of a beginner bike. But here we have driving license and take lessons on 600cc bike so here when you drive for (heavy bike license) license A it's a ffiiinne beginner bike
How is it in the corners sharp and not so sharp.
I've been on a Kawi ER6N for a little over a season and thinking of upgrading to a Trident maybe next year. Now I'm starting to think it might not be enough. I like naked upright style and was hoping to keep it under 750cc for insurance cost in Canada.. but we'll see
At that point i think trident is not really and upgrade. More of a fancier option maybe. If you want like upgrade Power/handling wise i think you maybe should even look for a street triple or something around there.
What should I be looking for. I used KTM duke 200 in the past. My present ride is the interceptor650 of Royal Enfield. Which all bikes I should consider as my next ride. Bikes like z900, cb650r, trident 660 and the street triple r are available here.
Anytime yammie uploads I hope any company sees and accepts my application so I can save for a bike
Im 172cm tall, first motorcycle I drove after 6 years of not driving anything two wheeler was 1300cc custom, after that I drove Hayabusa. Both were my fathers. Now 2 weeks ago I bought my first own motorcycle K100RS cafe racer. All the bikes are pretty easy to drive, people just need to get used to the size.
I ride motocross and am really experienced with motor cycles what would really be the bike for me in your opinion?
Service intervals on the triumph the very good
I have a question and I hope someone here can help me out. So I am currently 17 years old and would like to get my motorcycle license when I will be around the age of 24. I do have my 50cc license and I have been riding my Aprilia rs4 50cc for over a year now. Now, my question is, does that count as driving expirience because obviously it doesnt make much power. But I do know all the basics of motorcycle riding like shifting, revmatching, lookinhg into turns etc. And with that, what do you guys think about what kind of sportbike I should buy when im older. Because I would really like an Aprillia rs660 but I heard that that wouldnt be the brightest idea. Can anyone help me with this?
How’s the heat of RS660 vs Iron883 in traffic ?
That's it. I'm getting the Trident. ... Oh, and the new Lawnmower 😏
Bought the trident, great fun bike, yeah, it is friendly, but will answer you if you want to wring its neck. As for the throttle, just be a little bit more aggressive with it. I have no issues with this throttle! Great little all-rounder.
I think people would be more likely to cross-shop the Trident with the XSR700 as opposed to the MT-07.
Yamster can you evaluate the new Honda CBR 650R would that be an okay if I respect it beginner bike
If you're above age 25 and can ACTUALLY respect it, the CBR650R isn't too much for a beginner bike. The most important thing is the ability to easily flat foot with a little bend in your knees. My first bike was an Aprilia Shiver 750, I put it in Rain mode for the first season, Touring for the next 2 seasons and Sport mode for the following 2 seasons. Having different ride modes with your feet easily flat on the ground makes the biggest difference. Needless to say, I sell motorcycles at a Honda dealership in Vancouver Canada. Generally, it makes more sense to start on the CBR500R, but the 650 isn't too much of a handful.
Got an mt07 with the girlfriend for our first bike. It's quite a bike. Plenty fast enough. Enjoyable and solid. Not sure what they mean by rickety but also a new rider so 🤷♂️
It’s not “rickety”. He’s just anti Yamaha. As a previous FZ-07 owner for 5 years, I can tell you it’s the best bike I’ve ever owned in 50 years. It does everything well. The engine is a gem. Best of all, it’s cheap and built in Japan, not Thailand like these two bikes. 👍🏻
What I'd like to know is how far back are your feet when you ride these bike's. I hate when my heels are under my butt knees at an acute angle.
You can start with any bike you want . First bike i ride was suzuki gsxs 1000.
I'm still torn between the Trident 660 and the RS660... Before this I was in the market for the CB650R, but when these two bikes came out, the Honda begin to look kinda old, so I just put everything on hold. I owned a HD Iron 883 for solid 5 years, sold it just recently.
I had the same problem because I ended up choosing between both of the but ended up going with the Trident. I use to own a Ninja 636 and R6 in the late 2000s but now I'm almost 40 and wanted something that a little more comfortable. So while I love my 600cc super sports I just think the Trident is a a great looking bike that I can ride everyday and has enough power to do whatever I need. So basically just ask yourself what you want out of the bike and how you are going to use it. The Trident is more of sporty everyday bike (that looks great imo) while the RS 660 is more of your weekend fun toy unless you are in your 20s and can handle the more aggressive seating position for longer riding.
Trident 660 is a great beginner's bike'. This is another watch-me-ride video
You should compare the Tuono 660 with the RS 660.
You think the RS660 has harsh suspension - try riding an MV Dragster. HELL.
Bruv they don't know the half of it,
Feels like the suspension's just there for show😂
im going to decide between the Aprilia tuono 660 and the Yamaha mt 09. gonna test ride both. i come frome a sv 650 so i fear the tuono 660 may be a bit weak
The SV650 is kind of gutless compared to the Tuono 660, I have a deposit on a Tuono 660 right now and am coming off both a Mana 850 and a Shiver 750, lol, I also have an SR50 R Factory fully hopped up and capable of 130km/h. The MT09 is fun but it's a bit nutty. It's not something I would want to own if it were my only bike, it's nice for a 1 and a half hour blast here and there, any more than that and all your hair will turn white! I work at a bike dealership in sales and just sold a '16 FZ09 with a full carbon Akrapovic exhaust system, it sounds great, but I'm one of the only sales guys who hasn't put it down from the extreme low-end torque and complete lack of rider aides. If you get the MT09... Heads up!
Nope started on a Honda CB650F as my first, jumped on a 2019 RSV4 1100 Factory as my second :D
Anyone who’s starting out on a 300/400cc bike is just wasting money as you’ll want to upgrade it to a 650cc in couple of months time
Compare that to an old school 600. The naked and the sport. That Trident vs a Bandit 600 and the Aprilia vs a CBR 600, for example..
Seems Spites drapes dont match the bush
About what bike to start riding, where I live (Spain), after you get your license, during the first 2 years you cant ride any motorcycle that has more than 47,5horsepower (BUT you can buy and ride a 95hp bike that is able to be limited to 47,5hp via electronics).
There is a version of rs660 with 95 horsepower due to this, which you can limit to 47,5hp and then after 2 years you can lift the restriction (if u want to) and ride it full at 95hp.
Then I think, is it really any motorcycle a beginner shouldnt buy/start on, taking into account that its gonna be capped to 47,5 hp for 2 years?
Or it should be fine getting an rs660, trident660, mt07 or even z900, if they are limited to 47,5 hp?
Im in the process of getting my license atm and have watched a decent amount of videos about beginner bikes to start and not to start on, but with this limitation that exist in my country, does it really matter?
Yammie needs to build a turbo GSXR250!
First bike was a rebel 250 moved up to to a newer rebel 500 then moved up to an fz07 now I have an ftr1200
Trident the nr. 1 Noob bike, and the quality for the price, no more no less!
For me the silver one looks👌🏼
Sometimes the size of the newbie rider matters. I started riding over 20 years ago on a 1997 Suzuki Bandit 1200. I’m 6’3” 220lbs. I’m grateful that I was advised against buying the 600 Bandit. I controlled my wrist and understood my limits for 12 years with that torque monster. Then my wife had a child and I bought a B-King. Fuck it!
How many das I gate my zh2
It's strange to me that I worry about what bike has the right power for me but I'm so happy on any scooter
