I don't get your points at all. What is the problem with paying more for more functions and features? There is a problem with Sony not gate-keeping and therefore it's good that Canon is? Most people don't stick to a brand, they stick to a mount since all the lenses they buy are of the same mount, and it's expensive to switch mount. Anyways, you switched from Sony because you don't see a clear gear upgrade path, and you switched to Canon because you see how they are gatekeeping and there will be lots of feature upgrades which Sony already has that will come to Canon in the future? I think I have misunderstood since it doesn't make sense. I am on the RF-mount for stills and starting to learn filming videos. The R8 is the cheapest full-frame with the best autofocus for the money. Canon also has a more extensive and cheaper budget primes line-up than other mounts. These are the two reasons I'm on the RF mount. If you can't sum it up in a sentence or two, it makes less sense in a 10 minute explanation.
For me the ergonomics and menus and out of camera images are what keeps me with Canon. Yes RF lenses are expensive, but now i have what i want i can use them for decades and just upgrade my camera as i need to.
Dual C70 owner here. I was losing my love of Canon after the c200. Gate keeping certain features on even a 7k cinema camera was getting too out of hand for me. However the c70 really changed my decision and i am least in a holding pattern for now. The camera has been improved dramatically in last couple of years due to firmware updates, especially the RAW update. I think the biggest thing is canon is trying to really take things more seriously now and the c70/ c400 is now proof of that. Canon is also trying to do some novel things such as DGO. The r5mk2 is actually pretty exciting. 8k 60p in a small body with incredible AF. Idk why people are upset, it's a great camera.
Thanks for your perspective love to hear that you are still rocking with your C70. I‘m very excited for the C70 Mark II. I think this really could be a game changer🔥
videographers are upset because the 4k isn't oversampled beyond 30fps. Because the raw is noisy as hell. I'm not talking grain. I mean digital noise. The codec is a true computer killer. My 14900k with a 4090 struggle hard on the raw files of the r5m2.
For photography I want to switch from Sony to Leica, but I can’t afford the Leica SL3 coupled with the Leica Noctilux 75mm f1.25 prime lens. But for videography I will continue to stick with Sony. Should the Sony A1 mark II or A7S IV not support 8K60FPS, then I may have to defect to the Canon R5 C mark II whenever that comes out.
Don’t forget that the Canon R5 Mark II is not shooting regular 8K but 8K RAW so it’s a lot more data intensive but you also will have a lot more color depth. But I honestly think Sony will focus more on the global shutter technology than Resolution as it will be hard the get that high of a resolution on a 12mp sensor🤙
1 thing I didn’t agree with is saying the burano and fx3 had no difference in image quality so it wasn’t worth more….you’re not paying for a better image at that point, you’re paying for better features and flexibility..
100% agree with you but my problem is that considering the price point it’s hard to believe that the FX6 Mark II will be nearly as good of a camera as the Burano!

Thanks for spreading positivity on the internet and appreciating the art of modeling for what it is🙏🏻 every heard of a creative concept? ;)
Sony takes advantage of people with impulse control issues.
They're the only camera manufacturer that can sell one person an A7Siii, FX3, FX6, and ZVE1, even though everyone knows they're all the same camera.
