It's hard to go wrong with the cameras available today. Only 3-4 years ago the choice to go with Sony was not as easy. Now let's hope Sony improves their displays, user interface, and offers higher data rates (possibly raw video).
As someone whos had the A7siii and Fx3 but now moved to the R5ii. I loved the sony's, but only for video. At this point in my career I am a hybrid shooter and most of my clients require me to do both. I had 2 setups in the past where I would bring the fx3 for video and canon for photos, but I didn't like lugging around that much gear. Made the tough choice to sell my Sony and stick with canon. At the end of the day these are just tools, and there's not a perfect camera out there for everyone. If youre Nikon, lumix, sony, canon, fuji, or olympus, use what works for your needs.
For the same reason, I moved to Sony A7IV: not the best in photo, not the best in video, but the "all in one" hybrid solution at a very reasonable price. Cheers!
Great video. If I remember correctly, the Canon R5C could not do auto focus if you filmed at 60 frames per second in the slow and fast setting. Is that correct? Cause I remember I rented the camera to test it a couple of years ago, and AF would only work in 60fps non slow and fast. Which means then that you can’t play back the clip in slow motion for the client right out of camera. If this is correct, this is kind of like a dealbreaker. I think that’s why I didn’t end up buying the camera. Also one other factor is that you have the ability to use custom luts, but you can’t output the lut during playback, so you need a monitor that can add a lut. Just too many little weird things That compared to an FX3 is a no-no. Although I do love the video quality and I live the high megapixel. Cause then you don’t need to have a second camera for stills.
What is a camera without a lens? I would say that the lenses that are available is a big part of the decision making. I don't think many people sell all their lenses every few years to buy new ones for the camera that they are going to buy. So, when you buy your first camera you should make a decision which brand you are going to use. Sony simply has the most lenses and also has the most lenses in different price categories. For me, that advantage alone would already rule out any other brand then Sony. At this point I have all the lenses for Sony camera's which means I will only start reconsidering when Sony would stop with the E-mount system.
If you purchased a camera today for a solo creator who short films, doc work, and travel content, would you choose a Sony Fx3, Canon R5 mark2, or Sony zve-1 any other suggestions? Keep up the good work

The best camera is the one that gets the job done and you own 😉 I’m a proud owner of a Canon R5 Mar II. The quality of the pictures… the quality of the video… the autofocus… it’s just an amazing camera! There is only one correct answer here - if you are a hybrid shooter, get the R5 II, if you are a video centric shooter, get the FX3. Believe it or not, your clients don’t care what camera gear you are using, they care about the quality you can produce as a professional for their brand! Since I own my R5 II paired with most of the RF Primes 1.2 and 2.8 lenses all of my clients are blown away by the quality, clarity and the sharpness of the pictures and videos that I’m producing for them. Get out there, get creative, have fun and use whatever camera gear you have. Peace! ✌️
@@mikewiththecamera nope. I have seen the temperature sign couple of times but nothing serious. If you shoot long form videos/interviews, you should get the grip with the fan just to be sure that you won’t get stuck with overheating issues
Weird that there's no mention of audio capture - which is a huge market separator between these two cameras. FX3 has a dedicated XLR top handle while the canon relies on a cheap 3rd party tascam adapter. That's going to be a major value driver for video-centric buyers.
The fact that you are asking if a 3 year old camera, that was used to film a major Hollywood movie (The Creator) is even an option against the R5 ii should let you know something about the FX3.
Lens selection, product variety, cost, accessories, AF are why people choose Sony. The release of R5ii, C80, C400, albeit all great cameras, won't change the market in the short run.
to me the canon colour science straight out of camera looks more vibrant and clear whereas the sony was a little too bright on the whites and not as vibrant. I currently shoot sony.
Cannon needs to lose a point on video. If you’re not shooting 8k or 4k fine (maxing at 30fps) the video quality is truly terrible. It also overheats after about 22 minutes without the fan. My 8k60 raw is cool but a 21 minute of recording is 500 +gb and again the 4k fine dose not have 60fps
Please after this Make a video on Sony fx3 All tutorial on filmmaking Also camera settings of cinematography U understand? Want to know all about these settings n setup which we ll need in filmmaking by Sony fx3 Luv u 4rm PAKISTAN 🎉🎉🎉❤❤
Sony has 3rd party lens support and Cannon Full frame Cannon won’t let other lens manufacturers make lenses for the cameras! Huge reason to go with Sony! The quality per $$ is way better on Sony and you can start with cheaper lens and work up to G master lenses.
that was my first thought... 12mp is the way that sony wins the rolling shutter problem. So people are so stucked about resolution and megapixels which is wrong. Even if i had 8k i would't use it in most of my scenarios. It's an exception that would help in some projects only...
No no no buddy… r5ii has a stacked sensor and readout is about 5.3ms whereas the fx3, fx6, and a7siii have about a 7ms rolling shutter… so nah, Canon wins there.
4:31 -- I mean canon blows Sony out of the water; ive been dying on this hill for a while, but even the fx6 and fx9s just are way to "digital" and have an off putting quality to them even with dialed in lighting and environment; its only when you get up to the burano level with Sony do I feel like they kill it; anything less Is just not as good (which of course, subjective) than other brands

Peace! ✌️
have you had any over heating issues?
@@mikewiththecamera nope. I have seen the temperature sign couple of times but nothing serious. If you shoot long form videos/interviews, you should get the grip with the fan just to be sure that you won’t get stuck with overheating issues
why you dont compare to the a7rv? this have more sense
Weird that there's no mention of audio capture - which is a huge market separator between these two cameras. FX3 has a dedicated XLR top handle while the canon relies on a cheap 3rd party tascam adapter. That's going to be a major value driver for video-centric buyers.
I like Sony apart from the Sony fanboys ruin it for me.
better hdr in sony anyday.
Huzzah 🙌🏼
The fact that you are asking if a 3 year old camera, that was used to film a major Hollywood movie (The Creator) is even an option against the R5 ii should let you know something about the FX3.
On what lens and focal length did you record your talking head shot?
I would guess 20-24mm
Lens selection, product variety, cost, accessories, AF are why people choose Sony. The release of R5ii, C80, C400, albeit all great cameras, won't change the market in the short run.
It won't, it is true. Canon has the largest market share.
@@weigertj Not in mirrorless market share any more.
The 5RC is still a better video camera than the R5II. I don't see why anyone who's focused on video would bother getting it over the R5C.
The canon footage is so sharp till i thought it was AI generated 😍😍😍
to me the canon colour science straight out of camera looks more vibrant and clear whereas the sony was a little too bright on the whites and not as vibrant. I currently shoot sony.
lumix s5ii for me!
Watching this knowing damn well I'm not gonna be able to afford either one in the near future.
FX3 is a cinema camera, not a hybrid camera. A7RV should have been compare against the R5-ii since both are in the same category.
i would say slog3 S-Gamut3 cine and clog 2 both are identical
I would like to see fx3 vs s5iix
r5ii vs c80 vs c400 vs fx3 vs fx6 vs fx9
golden age of affordable options for hybrid shooters
Please test with nikon too
Cannon needs to lose a point on video. If you’re not shooting 8k or 4k fine (maxing at 30fps) the video quality is truly terrible. It also overheats after about 22 minutes without the fan.
My 8k60 raw is cool but a 21 minute of recording is 500 +gb and again the 4k fine dose not have 60fps
i love canon and need an upgrade, but at this point im scared to get anything, any recommendation's?
Please after this
Make a video on Sony fx3
All tutorial on filmmaking
Also camera settings of cinematography
U understand? Want to know all about these settings n setup which we ll need in filmmaking by Sony fx3
Luv u 4rm PAKISTAN 🎉🎉🎉❤❤
It's close, they trade blows. But what's mind blowing is the ZV-E1 gives you the quality of an FX3 at a pretty insane price.
I wonder what happened yesterday when the video unexpectedly went down during the stream?
The nikon z8 the best😎
I dont even get why a filmmaking Channel would Talk about the Canon R5, it is not a dedicated Video camera Like the FX3
I just wish Sony made a interchangeable EVF for the fx3
I dont think evf is that usable for videos .
Sony has 3rd party lens support and Cannon Full frame Cannon won’t let other lens manufacturers make lenses for the cameras!
Huge reason to go with Sony!
The quality per $$ is way better on Sony and you can start with cheaper lens and work up to G master lenses.
Привет 👋 ✌️ здравствуйте как дела спасибо тебе сделай пожалуйста видео про canon c8 vs Sony
What about lenses? Canon RF is extremely limited in this category
The rolling shutter will be stronger at 45 pixels on Сanon! Why wasn't there a rolling shutter test?
Sony does not take high speed pictures as the Canon, so there's no comparison point
that was my first thought... 12mp is the way that sony wins the rolling shutter problem. So people are so stucked about resolution and megapixels which is wrong.
Even if i had 8k i would't use it in most of my scenarios. It's an exception that would help in some projects only...
No no no buddy… r5ii has a stacked sensor and readout is about 5.3ms whereas the fx3, fx6, and a7siii have about a 7ms rolling shutter… so nah, Canon wins there.
also you didn't talk about the E mount lenses ecosystem
Only Sony fx3💪💪💪
Canon R6 II vs Sony A7 IV
Do a 720p point and shoot vs a 1080p DSLR
Let’s not forget that the FX3 was released 3 years earlier than the R5ii, LOL
Come on, you give fx3 +1 for ibis when one could give that to the r5ii and do not give r5ii +1 for its very clearly superior autofocus?
The camera to compare here is the canon c80
Vs c80 pls 😌😌
Soo, Basically the A7s III beats it in every category.
Literally no one needs 8K.
Color science: Davinci Resolve.
none of them if you have Panasonic S5II X
Buying musical gear is way less expensive than videography. I'm done buying shit for videography. EVERY fckin thing costs a fortune. Fck it.

4:31 -- I mean canon blows Sony out of the water; ive been dying on this hill for a while, but even the fx6 and fx9s just are way to "digital" and have an off putting quality to them even with dialed in lighting and environment; its only when you get up to the burano level with Sony do I feel like they kill it; anything less Is just not as good (which of course, subjective) than other brands
i still have gh5 😂
