As much as I love this performance I can't help but be reminded that Neil's beautiful daughter was taken from him not even 2 months after this show and then not long after his lovely wife Jacqueline. I hope he has found them in the next life. Thank you for the music, Professor. You have left an indelible mark on us all.

Thanks for sharing. I saw 6 shows on this tour (3 in 1996 and 3 in 1997). Resist was a highlight of the tour for me because at my first show (Rockford) they did Time and Motion. Then next show (Chicago) I saw they did Resist which made it the rare track of the night. Time and Motion was back again at my third show (Milwaukee) but I heard it was dropped not long after that. I like this version better than the studio one because of Geddy's solo vocal instead of the harmonized vocals. I also liked Alex's guitars on this. Looking back, this was a great tour and Different Stages was such a killer live album at the time. I remember when the initial setlist came out, there was a lot of anger about songs missing and I believe Show Don't Tell and Analog Kid from the Counterparts tour were added, but it might have been a coincidence that they were missing from the tracklist. I was truly expecting a single disc like A Show of Hands again. A double CD was not something I was even considering. Today we'd get the complete setlist. When I realized they were using material from the Counterparts tour as well, I was hoping for Hemispheres Prelude and Double Agent to be included. We got three songs. Show Don't Tell, Analog Kid and Bravado which was still ok by me. Too bad Dreamline isn't on here to start it off like on that tour - great opener. But... it was much better on the Counterparts tour with the white spotlights going with the Dreamline guitar riff. On the TFE tour it was changed to green lasers - still cool, but not as cool! Not to mention the 2001 theme music intro which was also from Counterparts (along with the Counterparts themed nut and bolt) and felt recycled when they used it on this tour. Great memories for me, I had some great seats for my shows and on top of that the Chicago (Tinley Park IL) show in June ended up being used as the bulk of the Different Stages material including the best Spirit of Radio ever (for Chicago fans at least) with the "Oh Chicago!" part in the middle from Geddy - I loved it!!! I can tell you this - that June 14th Chicago show was easily the best I saw of the 6. The crowd was way more into it that other shows I saw (maybe because the Bulls had won their 5th NBA Finals the night before?) and the band was playing great. Fast forward to 2007. I saw a show in Charlotte earlier in the year and it was good show, loved the setlist. But the Chicago show later that fall was night and day better. Better crowd, better performance. There is no doubt that Rush hit their stride later on tour.

Ram4 Lucky!! I only got to see them twice. Once during the Time Machine tour and the other during the R40 tour.

WHAT?!?! Neil starts with a four count for a song with a 6/8 time signature?!?! I'm not sure if I agree...
