And the show starts with an empty stage..... then the audience sits and watches the roadies set up Neil's drumkit... piece by piece walking out and holding it up the drums for people to cherish.. slowly, methodically putting his time machine together... then after its all set up you dim the lights and shine a spotlight on his drums.... and eventually Geddy and Alex walk out , wearing Robes no less !!! , and then they lay a robe on Neil's seat , and then take their seats in front, look back at Neil and give a smile and a wave, then play the most amazing heartfelt acoustic set of all time ❤ 💙 ♥ 😀 😊 😍 ❤ 💙 ♥
When you are feeling at your lowest, listen to RUSH. Nothing can compare to the positive energy the give us. I had the privilege to see this tour live , I'm so thankful. Not much more to say than 'Thank you RUSH' You've given us so much!!! Rest in peace professor, you will be forever missed!
It's perfectly utilized in this particular tune. His voice became a bit lower and thicker with age which opened up new ways of vocal interpretation for him and I do think Counterparts and Test For Echo were his most "pleasent" sounding records and the most approachable for an avarage listener, although I do miss the raspines from the days of Fly By Night or 2112. In my opinion his greatest vocal performance was on Power Windows, where he found a perfect middleground between his earlier style and a more commercial one. Great dude, great voice.
Watch enough finger-style guitarists and you'll see a ton of guitarists playing like that. Makes sense if you consider Geddy doesn't use a pick when he plays bass anyhow.
I feel if there was ever a song Geddy & Alex could play together, this would be the one,as Neil was on board and just fine with them doing an acoustic version of it. I always think of Neil and his words in this song along with his trials, tribulations, and adversities in his life he overcame. In the end,it was the inevitable injustice he could only resist for so long, that robbed him of his Family and us all. The Watchmaker kept to scheme, while fighting without ever winning. He fought for 3 1/2 years. RIP Neil
At this point in their careers they could have EASILY done what every other band does and just phoned it in ridden the nostalgia tour cash train, yet they STILL were churning out the best new music of their careers and giving 10,000% into every performance. So much respect.
That was the best I've ever heard Geddy sing in his long time career. He had a great voice all along but this version of Resist really enhances his vocal performance. I'd love to see Geddy and Alex tackle some of their other songs into acoustic versions. I bet it would be really good. "Rush Unplugged"
As someone who prefers this particular performance, I find it strangely heartwarming to see that this video has more views than any video with the studio version.
This tour was the first time I had ever heard Resist, and it instantly became one of my favorites. Yes the original is great, but the acoustic here it just absolutely amazing. Just wish I could hear it live one more time!
+Hawk2571 Yes, they will. I was lucky enough to hear this live, near the front row, during their Vapour Trails tour in the mid-2000s. The whole crowd was just stunned. They received a standing ovation afterward.
I miss you Neil. The lyrics you left all of us. You weren't just the greatest drummer. But one of the strongest and kindest humans to ever live. A mind for the ages. Your books and lyrics were an insight into your strength. RiP to an inspiration of mine. 🙏
This could help with life later down the road as well. Also, Phil 2112 is a cool name. 2112 is of my favourite numbers of all time. So glad I discovered Rush.
This is one of two songs I want played at my funeral. It's the one meant for when the whole thing ends, so that hopefully those in attendance latch onto some of its message and live life to its fullest.
This song proved to me that Alex is everything people say about him. What a special talent almost unmatched in my opinion. Lots of guitarist can shred but can they slow it down ?? Eh ? Stevie ray no. Van halen no..... this song is the proof
This song means so much to me since the first time I heard it. Truly has such a special meaning and how much better of a world it would be if everyone could think and act like this song.❤
"Resist" I can learn to resist Anything but temptation I can learn to coexist With anything but pain I can learn to compromise Anything but my desires I can learn to get along With all the things I can't explain I can learn to resist Anything but frustration I can learn to persist With anything but aiming low I can learn to close my eyes To anything but injustice I can learn to get along With all the things I don't know You can surrender Without a prayer But never really pray Pray without surrender You can fight Without ever winning But never ever win Without a fight I can learn to resist Anything but temptation I can learn to coexist With anything but pain I can learn to compromise Anything but my desires I can learn to get along With all the things I can't explain
A very close friend, a brother I never had committed suicide. We grew up together listening to RUSH, I cry every time I hear this song and we even managed to see them together in concert a couple times. My late sister, he had a huge crush on her. She saw him that morning waving at her as threy were driving out of the village. Her husband told me that he didn't see anyone but my sister did that day when he killed himself, but this happened some 280mi away. I asked her. "Where did you see him." She replied. "It looked like he was going over to your place." When I got home later that night, I walked into my little party pad where we used to hangout. A week before all this happened, we were getting high in there smoking some weed. I had just scored a couple of sacks and I told him. "We're gonna smoke this one, and save this one for later." He was the only one who knew where I had stashed it. I walked in there and my plexiglass window was laying on the floor and my tapestry, the one he gave me for Christmas was hanging downward from the ceiling and the weed was gone. I had put the weed on top of the tapestry, I went outside and there were no tracks anywhere and how could anyone climed in there. The window was high up off the ground. I knew it had to have been him. I miss him so much R.I.P. My sweet brother Roland Bahnimptewa MAY THE GREAT SPIRIT TAKE YOU AND SHAWNA INTO HIS KINGDOM OF LOVE AND HAPPINESS FOR ALL TIME R.I.P. My sweet sister Shawna Lomavitu. In our Hopi Tewa culture, every person's spirit gets to roam for four days before they leave on their journey to be with the GREAT SPIRIT.
This video makes it so much easier to conceive of the circumstances in which Geddy and Alex would do something musical together again, because this is literally what I like to call a "Peartless Rush" looks like right here! ❤
Wonderful! Great to see Alex getting into it. Also great to see them so close together; usually they are so far apart when they perform you forget that they are listening to each other and of course, close friends.
Nice, but I still prefer the Rush In Rio version, not only for the touching acoustic version of Resist, also for the Brazilian crowd, the best Rush fans around the world
Geddy and Alex could do an acoustic show, and everyone would show up for it.
Couldn't agree with you more and it makes sense (with Neil being a little far away )
And the show starts with an empty stage..... then the audience sits and watches the roadies set up Neil's drumkit... piece by piece walking out and holding it up the drums for people to cherish.. slowly, methodically putting his time machine together... then after its all set up you dim the lights and shine a spotlight on his drums.... and eventually Geddy and Alex walk out , wearing Robes no less !!! , and then they lay a robe on Neil's seat , and then take their seats in front, look back at Neil and give a smile and a wave, then play the most amazing heartfelt acoustic set of all time ❤ 💙 ♥ 😀 😊 😍 ❤ 💙 ♥
@@kvfkvf6900 made me 😢 ...man
dont know about that ..the professor was a huge part of RUSH
🤘🏼🙏🔥👍🏻 Who could…Resist? Never this Fan…
"I can close my eyes to anything but injustice ...."
So many examples that we must not close our eyes to
"Resist" is the theme we need now, more than ever.
Thank you Rush, when all else fails, you are always there..
100%
100%
That's right.
When you are feeling at your lowest, listen to RUSH.
Nothing can compare to the positive energy the give us.
I had the privilege to see this tour live , I'm so thankful.
Not much more to say than 'Thank you RUSH'
You've given us so much!!!

What Carmen said
Easily one of Geddy's finest vocal performances.
In my honest opinion, this is the best Geddy's voice has sounded ever.. The heart coming from his vocal cords is outstanding!

@@kawuniadarunia2 I'd say he was toning down the witchy screeching with Subdivisions. Some more relaxed vocals on those tracks.
Chills!
I don't know why, but seeing Geddy using his bass playing technique on guitar made me smile.
Mysterious Internet Guy what bass technique?
because it is a guitar technique....
Watch enough finger-style guitarists and you'll see a ton of guitarists playing like that. Makes sense if you consider Geddy doesn't use a pick when he plays bass anyhow.

The empty kit says it all. We miss you Neil.

I love this. The acoustic version is 100 times better than how it was recorded on Test for Echo.
Amen bro. Such a song.
They're both good, just different. Geddy and Alex put this arrangement together to give Neil a break following him drum solos.
I love the guitar solo in TFE Version
They're both great. I prefer the studio though, it's more powerful with the whole band playing.
The part when geddy goes all out in singing is just awesome and a tear jerker
That was the best I've ever heard Geddy sing in his long time career. He had a great voice all along but this version of Resist really enhances his vocal performance. Too bad the audio quality sucks. 😒
This tour was the first time I had ever heard Resist, and it instantly became one of my favorites. Yes the original is great, but the acoustic here it just absolutely amazing. Just wish I could hear it live one more time!
I agree.
Damn, the guitars sound so good...
Just watched this for the first time since Neil’s
passing. Heart is broken. These two are great, but Rush is forever gone.
Still way too hard for me as well...still so hard to believe Neil is gone...I feel ya, brother...
If I ever have the chance to see it live, tears are gonna fall.
+Hawk2571 Yes, they will. I was lucky enough to hear this live, near the front row, during their Vapour Trails tour in the mid-2000s. The whole crowd was just stunned. They received a standing ovation afterward.
Andreoliveira257 You should see live they are stunning!
JD Blatz, you'll never seem them again. Neil Peart retired.
And the band officially called it quits in January
I miss you Neil. The lyrics you left all of us. You weren't just the greatest drummer. But one of the strongest and kindest humans to ever live. A mind for the ages. Your books and lyrics were an insight into your strength. RiP to an inspiration of mine. 🙏
Soared though the roof.... seen this concert live.
friggin amazing!
They will never be forgotten for what they have given us.
RIP Neil.
Read Ghost Rider . Lost my Brother six Months Later 😢
One of the greatest pieces of music to ever grace my life.
I know exactly what you mean! This is the song 🎵 that puts everything into perspective for me!
This could help with life later down the road as well. Also, Phil 2112 is a cool name. 2112 is of my favourite numbers of all time. So glad I discovered Rush.
Best version of this song ever
It's weird to see Geddy without a bass in his hands. And yet his flamenco technique still applies even to his acoustic guitar playing! 👌🤘🎸
Put the Rio version of this on your phone or MP3. Listen through your headphones while staring out at the ocean.
..."I can learn to close my eyes, to anything but injustice!"
Saw them play this at Wembly in 2004. Superb.
Acoustic definitely the best version.
These two men are still living and capable of performing amazing music. I hope they will go on a Rush unplugged tour before it’s too late.
Pure ecstasy in the acoustic version.
Seeing Geddy and Alex play Resist live was so special.
This is one of two songs I want played at my funeral. It's the one meant for when the whole thing ends, so that hopefully those in attendance latch onto some of its message and live life to its fullest.
I was at this show & many more on this tour. One band that I spent a lot of time & money following. I don't regret it, I'll never forget it.
I almost cried. Nothing but love for the best to ever do it!
One of their Deepest Songs Ever 😢!
Very appropriate for this time, I beautiful and strong song...
This is heartbreakingly gorgeous as an acoustic arrangement.
This song proved to me that Alex is everything people say about him. What a special talent almost unmatched in my opinion. Lots of guitarist can shred but can they slow it down ?? Eh ? Stevie ray no. Van halen no..... this song is the proof
Alex always put serving the song ahead of anything else.
Throw it on Alex! Even acoustic he is just amazing. RIP Professor, you are missed.
God I love this band and have done for the last 40 years. Still moves me as much as back then as that teenage kid!
Ik speel iedere dag dit nummer heeft mij een goed gevoelens. Ik ben weduwnaar
Wow Geddy's voice simply Amazing. Test for Echo is one of my favorite Rush albums. I love this version.
Great performance all around as usual. Some of Geddy's best vocals. Al and Ged both on acoustic guitar, simply amazing.
This song means so much to me since the first time I heard it. Truly has such a special meaning and how much better of a world it would be if everyone could think and act like this song.❤
Dat Geddy zingt is gewoon tot op de bodem prachtig
"Resist"
I can learn to resist
Anything but temptation
I can learn to coexist
With anything but pain
I can learn to compromise
Anything but my desires
I can learn to get along
With all the things I can't explain
I can learn to resist
Anything but frustration
I can learn to persist
With anything but aiming low
I can learn to close my eyes
To anything but injustice
I can learn to get along
With all the things I don't know
You can surrender
Without a prayer
But never really pray
Pray without surrender
You can fight
Without ever winning
But never ever win
Without a fight
I can learn to resist
Anything but temptation
I can learn to coexist
With anything but pain
I can learn to compromise
Anything but my desires
I can learn to get along
With all the things I can't explain

Is it over already? I could listen to this song all night. Brilliant.
BEAUTIFUL does NOT make justice to this song. MASTERPIECE for sure!!!!!!
That song is sounds beautiful when it's done acoustically

This was my favorite song during this tour it just blew me away plus this version is way much better than the studio version

love this acoustic version, Neil lyrics.... so powerful, he'll be eternally missed, no one better, we won't stop playing rush.
I would like to hear Lee and Lifeson perform Losing It like this.
Aww 😢 so nice dude 😭
Wonderful! Great to see Alex getting into it. Also great to see them so close together; usually they are so far apart when they perform you forget that they are listening to each other and of course, close friends.
Whenever faced with a tough time or situation. This song always pulls me up, and helps strengthen my resolve.

Its so ironic
Neil isn't there ....
Nice, but I still prefer the Rush In Rio version, not only for the touching acoustic version of Resist, also for the Brazilian crowd, the best Rush fans around the world
You don't happen to speak Portuguese, do you?
Pedro Pablo Pastene isnt this the Rush in Rio version?
Except Cleveland, apparently. ; ) It was the DJs and fans there who first made Rush really popular.
100% RUSH, Aqui do Brasil.
Rush. Assept no substitute.
As awesome as this is it's also to give Neil a rest after his drum solo, yet his presence is still there because it's his words Geddy is singing.
