@@johnfolks6975 Seen them live twice, such amazing & down to earth musicians. Wish I would have seen them in concert more. The greatest trio to ever grace us!
I am DEVASTATED one of the BEST composers in human history has so suddenly been taken away from ALL of us. I am so glad that I was able to see them in concert. Rest in peace Neal, WE LOVE YOU! If you believe in forever, Then life is just a one-night stand. If there's a rock and roll heaven, Well you know they've got a hell of a band, band, band.
the alternation between the raw and powerful rock from the chorus and the soothing piano and acoustic guitar in the rest of the song it's just magic. I just get sometimes sad of seeing this bit old stuff and remembering that they aren't playing anymore.
@@relentlesscactus At 4:09, you can see Geddy triggering a sample track with his foot on his bass pedals. I imagine the sample contains the hammer dulcimer part and the backing vocals. Alex has a special piezo pickup in the bridge which allows him to get acoustic guitar like tones from an electric. I saw this tour in Charlotte, NC and was a little bummed they didn't play this song that night. But it was an awesome show and the last time I saw them live.
We were at the first stop for this tour , World Music Amphitheater for the Different Stages live cd recording. Wish we could go back. One of Rush's greatest songs. We all miss these guys terribly. R.I.P. Professor
The last post on this thread nailed a simple Truth in our precarious and confusing world (which is only too full of untruths much of the time) - so I'll copy & paste what Alex Murphy rightly said re RUSH: "Greatest band of all time" ..... well said my fellow Rush fan. Still have to pinch myself that the band that hooked-me-instantly-for-life with 1974 debut album is STILL working/touring.... This stunning band stands alone, period.
Truly Canada's greatest band!, and one of the greatest 3piece bands ever, Cream could have been the greatest 3piece band ever, cept they lasted 2or 3 years!.and egos as big as the known universe!...
I prefer their 1996-97 live arrangement to the studio version - definitely a highlight of Different Stages. I also saw Time and Motion twice in 1996 which they alternated with Resist for the first 2 weeks of the tour.
Greatest band of all time.
Agreed!
+Alex Murphy , totally agree, no resistance here!
Without a doubt.
YEP, there is music and there is RUSH...hands down the BEST SHOW...have to get your respirator recalibrated...PEACE

Alex’s playing really shines through in this song. The tones are unreal...
That guitar tone is really amazing, more layered than the original.
Great Hardrock Song - I lOve It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your still here!

It's likely they were playing music in the medieval times like that, the string line and flow, you know.
Actually, it's a hammer dulcimer, not a piano. Neil is credited on the album for playing it
@@physicstone Yeah but who's playing it here ? Looks like a tape as Neil is drumming. I'm no fan of live backing tracks, especially in Rush.
@@relentlesscactus Only one backing track here is the keyboards - rest is fucking kick- ass live!!!!!!!!!!!

And as a proud Scot with family in Canada, let me say guys how much we appreciated this great song, especially Neil's lyrics
Inver Darroch Same here. Lancaster Ontario
It was inspired by scottish folk music, I guess.
@Shallex Watch the film Braveheart then listen to the song through Wallace's eyes.
I'm an American living in Serbia and I love this song
Neil you were and still are, a meaningful presence
Incredible song and some of Neil's best lyrics ever. What a great live version, it really kicks.
The Greatest of all time.

Test For Echo is so underrated. Every song on it belongs on the playlist.

Amazing Concert. I would like to live it all again.
A masterpiece.

The Police were a diverse three piece band with a great guitarist. Ask Alex. Andy Summers is one of his fav. guitarists.
Alex's guitar @1:40 is so, so haunting...
Kyle Rebar more like 1:16 ...
Probably the only Rush song that works better acoustically.
RUSH IS FAMILY.......nuff said.
omg I love it sooo much !
I can learn to get along with all the things i don't know - like why haven't Those who know best risen and saved us from ourselves ? !
Ged's Scottish accent is on point👌
