Driving home from college years ago, there was a line of awesome thunderheads across the sky ahead. Lightning in the clouds made them glow one at a time, and I realized why they are called thunderheads: they looked like a line of huge purple, carved busts. I realized I had Permanent Waves in the car, and blasted Jacob's Ladder while I drove through the storm. It is still one of my favourite songs.

I'm 66. Yes, you read that right. I remember getting "All the World's a Stage" on 8-track, when it came out. When I heard the guitar echo on "Anthem", I was hooked. For me Alex with the different sounds and chords he came up with was the reason I became a Rush fan. The different spacey chords of Jacob's Ladder is another perfect example. Alex never got enough credit for the success of this band, IMO.

Remember his tear drop bass? That was the old Sun burst P Bass from the debut album.

@@JusCuz410 I read Geddy saying they did some funky/odd signal chain things with a P Bass on "Caress Of Steel" I believe.

I love the way the music goes in and out of very complex time signatures, as well as the sophisticated music theories.

It happened to me. I was tent camping on a hunting trip when a storm came in-a big, loud, violent one. I sat out the storm in my car with Exit Stage Left playing and cued it to Jacob's Ladder. What a show.
