very lucky to have experienced Rush - back in the day on the Moving Pictures tour. nothing comes close. I was in a daze, wondering how three guys could create this amazing thing
There have been many great, legendary players of their respective instruments in rock and roll history. Here are three of them. IN THE SAME FUCKING BAND.
I saw Rush in Santa Ana tcalif three days in a row in 1986, Amazing band! Supreme talent. During the opening song Spirit of Rado, Alex guitar string broke, and Geddy just ran over to the synthesizer and continued like nothing happened. As a guitar player I know if a string broke while I was performing I'd be freaking out.
God, The music is great, but seeing these three up their playing their hearts out while having fun and smiling is absolutely fucking GOLD. Neil and Geddy laughing with enjoyment at Alex is awesome.
In 1979 & 80 I used to travel 230 miles between two cities for work, I'd drive at night and blast LaVilla Strangeato full volume and put the pedal on the floor, a fantastic HiWay flying song! Thank you Alex, Geddy and Neil, RIP brother, see you soon!
Growing up with RUSH was a great experience… I never missed a show since moving pictures…. It’s been a honor to have witnessed the musicianship with RUSH….thank you
mind fucking blowing, what a jam. one of my favorite qualities about Neil is no matter what song they played he always found a way to use all his drums any song they are not just props. also this band knows how to have FUN! RUSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Watching these three guys play some meaningless, random jam session while Alex rambles and mumbles through La Villa Strangiato is just one of so many reasons why I have enjoyed watching and listening to Rush over the years. Their "garbage" is better than most bands best and to see them doing it with broad gins on their faces only makes it that much better for me as a fan. I always felt Rush was at their best when all the extras (vocals, keyboards, pedals, backing tracks, etc) were gone and it was just three guys with a guitar, a bass and a boat load of drums flogging the heck out of their axes. At least we will always have all these recordings of their craft to enjoy...
That is the definition of excellence. It is just so easy for them that they can goof around, Alex is trying real hard to crack up Geddy and Neil but all the while they don't miss a beat or a note. Incredible.
That Bass during the second guitar solo in La Villa! Is one of the sickest, nastiest playing I've heard from Geddy. Jamming on older tunes like that was always a great treat at the show. I miss these guys.
Also, the break from 2:05 evokes, unbelievable feeling, technical playing, and cohesiveness by Alex, but also by the support of Geddy and Neil. I love all of their songs, but I always return to this part of LVS.
hey one of the best band I ever seen 👀in concerts 🏟I saw them in 1977 high school in welland ontario 🏢 and 2015 in ottawa ontario canada 🥁🎸🎹 always will be a fan 😀 🕶🎼🎵r.n.p Neil Peart love your music 🎶 ❤ from prescott ontario canada peace ✌ 🇨🇦🇨🇦👀🤟
I’m 68. When Rush first hit the US music scene with the first album me and my friends loved it. When I heard By Tor and the Snow Dog for the first time I became a dedicated lifelong fan. Their first concert in Dallas was opening for Mahogany Rush and Robin Trower at Travis Street Electric Company, a relatively small venue. I was blown away by Peart, still am. What an incredible trio.
A bloody masterpiece! Alex shows us how to play a beautifully melodic, technically superb solo. The three masters are in top form. Rush shows us what it is like to be at once a comedic and iconic rock band, perhaps the best there ever was. No easy feat.
I laughed. I cried. At the same time. There is a big gaping four and a half decade hole in my life that can never be filled, but thank you for giving me this.
This song grows in beauty the more you listen to it. It crawls into your soul more so as you see the efforts of the creation involved. Went to PinkPop from '75-78. Had to return to the U.S. in '79. Guess who was there later in '79 after I left? One of my biggest regrets was never seeing them in concert.
Lifeson's preciseness and subtlety on a solo like La Villa Strangiato is underrated. I know everyone says he's underrated but it takes real musicianship to write and perform something like what we see from 2:17 to 3:43. It's those little details. Even the way it transitions off into those palm mutes is excellent in how it phases to the next part of the song. As where another guitarist would have gone right into the hard part of the solo, Alex builds up to it carefully with delicately placed bends until it reaches that suspense point.
24 hours a day. 7 days a week. 365 days a year. I just can't stop listening to RUSH. I've been seriously addicted from 1974 and now it's 2021 of March and it's still happening. No rehabs for me. That's for quitters. Chi Town
Best progressive band in history in my opinion. I saw them unfortunately only once in their decades of touring and it was on their Roll the Bones tour and Primus opened for them. I was only maybe 16, a band geek in school and I absolutely knew the masters that I was seeing and listening to on that stage! Unforgettable! Their songs always bring back memories and excitement! I miss the professor. He inspired my drum and percussion skills and many of us owe thanks to him, Alex and Geddy for bringing us such sweet melodies and beats! They were pretty much the best out of many musicians at their craft.
Who are the 5 people who have this thumbs down? If you don't like a band why watch and then give a thumb down. Also you can't compare zep to rush two totally different styles zep greatest rock band ever Rush is more progressive and always changing that is what makes them truly great you have to appreciate what three guys can do by themselves and as a whole
That was the worst response to anything I've seen on youtube for a while. You didn't answer the question at all. You just insulted at the end, and made a non-sequitur at the start. Try again, this time with more effort..
The interplay between all three of them is remarkable in this video. humbling, and endearing. It makes me want to just hang out with them because they’re really just normal, fun, playful people, like the rest of us!
Rush is the greatest (talented, hilarious ...just beautiful) ...a one of a kind band. Rest in peace Neil Peart (your percussion skills and penmanship are sorely missed)
all of these musicians who started in the 60's are dying off mostly from old age.Touring is a hard life and being a musician 24/7 was even harder. So, they are worn out by 60. Any more years after that is gravy. Which explains why Paul McCartney takes such good care of himself and has for years.

Thank you Alex, Geddy and Neil, RIP brother, see you soon!
Gracias a Dios aun vives para contarlo
Growing up with RUSH was a great experience… I never missed a show since moving pictures…. It’s been a honor to have witnessed the musicianship with RUSH….thank you
When 3 musicians that were super fantastic make music, this is what you get
One of the greatest bands of all time.
We lost The Great Neil Pert today.. R.I.P
mind fucking blowing, what a jam. one of my favorite qualities about Neil is no matter what song they played he always found a way to use all his drums any song they are not just props. also this band knows how to have FUN! RUSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Them goofing at the end with Neil..and him smiling made my day.😄😂
Watching these three guys play some meaningless, random jam session while Alex rambles and mumbles through La Villa Strangiato is just one of so many reasons why I have enjoyed watching and listening to Rush over the years.
Spot On! Almost like "Hey this is getting old...lets spice it up" having fun on stage is what I enjoyed about their shows
This is one of their private rehearsal/jam/screwing around sessions that we’ve been invited to attend.
I love these boys from Toronto forever!
I never have seen this one
That is the definition of excellence. It is just so easy for them that they can goof around, Alex is trying real hard to crack up Geddy and Neil but all the while they don't miss a beat or a note. Incredible.
I saw this tour 2 times have the T-shirt and the pin! It was really great B4 cell phone cameras!!!!!
That Bass during the second guitar solo in La Villa! Is one of the sickest, nastiest playing I've heard from Geddy. Jamming on older tunes like that was always a great treat at the show.
I miss these guys.
Immer wieder toll zu sehen!!!
Neil Peart ist unvergessen!!!
RIP Neil!!!
Also, the break from 2:05 evokes, unbelievable feeling, technical playing, and cohesiveness by Alex, but also by the support of Geddy and Neil. I love all of their songs, but I always return to this part of LVS.
Thank God Cleveland introduced us to this band in 1974
That By Tor section was the funniest thing I've seen in music. Didn't think I could love and respect them any more, but i just have.
hey one of the best band I ever seen 👀in concerts 🏟I saw them in 1977 high school in welland ontario 🏢 and 2015 in ottawa ontario canada 🥁🎸🎹 always will be a fan 😀 🕶🎼🎵r.n.p Neil Peart love your music 🎶 ❤ from prescott ontario canada peace ✌ 🇨🇦🇨🇦👀🤟
Alex is the best guitar player ever. He can make you feel every emotion possible through his playing. 💖🎶💖🎶💖🎶💖🎶💖
Who? 🎸🎸🎸
I laughed. I cried. At the same time. There is a big gaping four and a half decade hole in my life that can never be filled, but thank you for giving me this.
I know the feeling
Love seeing Neils smile at 9:58. Made my day
Neil's birthday 9/12/20 ..let's all celebrate his life this weekend and play Rush songs load enough for the whole neighborhood to enjoy...
Another great perfomance by Rush! Way 2 go guys! RIP NEIL! T. U. 4 all the great drum solos!
U 3 r all master musictions!
I love seeing how much fun they're clearly having, even after decades together. So wonderful.
Rush was about 30 years in their journey here. Still rocking and having fun on stage !
How they manage to navigate in this inferno of sound, and be this tight...is beyond my imagination...this is AWESOME :-)
all while air bowling during the drum fill
They played these songs from the '70's...they knew them in their sleep.
We got nearly 50 years out of three nerds who just happened to be arguably the greatest of their craft ever. Rush will live on forever.
Rush members energy and complicity on stage is just outstanding. They just love being a trio!
Those that really knew rock were well aware of how good Rush was for so many years. Love the band !
Lifeson's "Rant" during La Villa never dissapoints LOL
Primus anyone??
I've always liked that sound when Neil hits the hi-hat, and closes it with a kick drum. Nobody achieves it as perfect as he. f#ckn tight
This is a band of brothers that truly love each other and shows in their music. RUSH F'N RULES!
So much music from only three people, Amazing
These guys play so good they can just have fun and still blow everyone away.
Sometimes destiny works our perfectly, the fact that these 3 guys hooked up is beyond description and so lucky were we who have seen them.
24 hours a day. 7 days a week. 365 days a year. I just can't stop listening to RUSH. I've been seriously addicted from 1974 and now it's 2021 of March and it's still happening. No rehabs for me. That's for quitters. Chi Town
Seeing how much these 3 guys had onstage was great. We fans will always have the memories...
Did Neil and Geddy expect this ?! This is genius ! Love these guys
Ever consider people might just dislike something about the video or it's uploader, not the band or it's music?
Led Zeppelin is not the "greatest rock band ever"..
I was in Frankfurt for this one. I wish I could be in a band with my best friends, kicking this much ass! ❤️
yeah my first listen I was in awe still am 40 somethin years later
The interplay between all three of them is remarkable in this video. humbling, and endearing. It makes me want to just hang out with them because they’re really just normal, fun, playful people, like the rest of us!
Rush is the greatest (talented, hilarious ...just beautiful) ...a one of a kind band. Rest in peace Neil Peart (your percussion skills and penmanship are sorely missed)
It's almost incomprehensible how awesome the musicianship was with these 3 guys! BRAVO!! TOP NOTCH!! With these guys, the fans always came first!!
Insane 3 guys can make this much noise!
I LOVE HOW THIS BAND TAKES YOU PLACES JUST LOVE IT.
I could watch this a billion times over and never get enugh!
Alex is so underrated. These guys were magical. It’s still hard to believe that Neil is no longer with us.
Alex is perfectly rated through the musical world of perfection. He is a master of his craft. He is Rush.
all of these musicians who started in the 60's are dying off mostly from old age.Touring is a hard life and being a musician 24/7 was even harder. So, they are worn out by 60. Any more years after that is gravy. Which explains why Paul McCartney takes such good care of himself and has for years.
one of my best concerts ever, loved every minute, especially la villa strangiato
Geddy is playing through the whole of "La Villa Strangiato" like if he is in a party and having a good time. WTF, it's a ridiculously difficult song!
That is what makes them so amazing..
Worth it to watch this video JUST for Alex's scatting and seeing the smile on Neil Pearts face
AB-SO-LU-TELY the best version of Villa Strangianto I’ve ever heard!
Yes. the best music, the best guys, the best live band
IN HISTORY.
