This is not just a song. This is the cure for the modern human mentality that is harmed by the pressure of life. Great respect to the great band, Rush. R.I.P., Neil. So sad that you've gone too fast. You'll be in my mind forever.
You Got dat Right,4 da Future of always with IntroSpect, for the Great Times, that wont Stand Still, except, within the Moments, that Gives Us the Values that RUSH,wayyyyy toooo,FasT!Take care!nah!
I did the same Gary H. I was 14 yrs old in '91 when I got a call from a buddy and he played half of Roll The Bones on the phone for me during christmas break from jr. high. He said, "Pablo listen to what he's saying." We dug deep into lyrics trying to decipher their meanings.
Absolutely one of my favorites! I choose not to see Rush in terms of periods or, stages. They made amazing music throughout their career. Every stage has its peaks! For me, the ultimate peak is Xanadu, studio or live, I don’t care!
I have seen RUSH countless times since 1977 (Lord I'm old), and I will NEVER forget the amazing musicianship amongst these 3 men, and how they were so sorely cheated out of consideration as "greatness" amongst the music industry. Neil can NEVER be duplicated as with Robin Williams as an example. My heart hurts terribly when I think of the great concerts, the books, the meetings, everything that this band was, Neil was to the music industry. What a blessing to those who experienced RUSH...what a shame to those that didn't.
great comment Karen, yes I'm also over 60 been a fan (almost) as long as you ... since 1980. and, YES, the best band ever. we love Robin Williams (and Gilbert Gottfried RIP) ... i won't mention what we have in common, here.
You got That Right!Circumstances some how got in the way for me ta See Rush,in the past,I fortunate to See them 2 times,Power Windows, and Roll the Bones. Most favorite band in da Whirl ,nah!Take care,Karen!
A few months ago, I stumbled upon a comment left by some ignorant trolling jackass who dared to say Neil was overrated. Couldn't resist answering, telling the bozo that if anything, Neil was not only underrated as a drummer but as a lyricist and as just about everything he put his heart, mind and soul to.
Hearing this makes me happy to be one of the few people of my generation capable of enjoying such mastery. I'm 17 and proud to say that Rush are my gods.
The thing is that this kind of music flies under the radar, no matter the era. It’s easy to scoff at nerdy, technical hobbies and forms of entertainment. In the same way that it’s easy to say that pop music has no soul, the unacquainted look at prog rock and similar styles as a replacement of the heart with the brain. However, Rush’s music subverts this constantly. It might be one of the reasons why they bordered on mainstream at some points. The heart is undeniable in songs like these.
About ten years ago, I had to say goodbye to my step-dad, a truly fine and good man taken too soon from this life. On the morning, a thousand miles from my home, that I rose in the dark but knew that he didn’t have long, I put on my earphones for my portable CD player. And in the pre-dawn, I listened to “Bravado”. And then rose and did and said what I had to say and do. Bless you, Rush, for being a part of my life for years, and bless you, Neil, for giving words to that soundtrack.
These guys stir my emotions in why's I can't describe, I will miss them with a deep heartfelt pain. Maybe someday I will ride with the ghost rider. Thanks RUSH for so many years of amazing, incredible, just magnificent soul moving music. Forever rush, rush forever!
*One of my favorite RUSH songs.....probably one of the "easier" songs Neil did. Smooth and not complicated. Thank you GOD for letting us watch this human being perfect his craft well over 40 years!*
The ending chorus after the guitar solo is actually pretty complex from a drumming standpoint. He's showing off excellent hand-independence and it would normally require two drummers to play that beat.
Best Rush song ever - the lyrics are incredibly meaningful and most human beings can relate to them: "If we burn our wings / Flying too close to the sun".
This is my favorite version of my favorite song. Years ago, when it was at just a couple of thousand views, I would share it each time it hit a new 5k view milestone. I haven't been here in a while, and I'm happy to see it now has been loved by so many.
If we burn our wings flying too close to the sun If the moment of glory is over before it's begun If the dream is won though everything is lost We will pay the price but we will not count the cost, When the dust has cleared and victory denied A summit too lofty, river a little too wide If we keep our pride though paradise is lost We will pay the price, but we will not count the cost And if the music stops - there's only the sound of the rain All the hope and glory, all the sacrifice in vain And if love remains, though everything is lost We will pay the price, but we will not count the cost
Holy shit!!! How have I never seen/heard this version of the song before?! It's been a long time favourite of mine but all the extra guitar and bass work in this version just adds a whole other dimension to it. Simply amazing!
Una canción que te alimenta el alma y te alienta a seguir adelante siendo fiel a ti mismo. Me hace sentir que hay cosas que aún valen por las cuales luchar
Idiscovered them from friends who had a garage band in the 80’s I was 15 or so my first song was Tom Sawyer grew up with Rush, I just hit 50 and still RUSH is my favorite band I rediscover songs that I have listened so many times and I discover new meanings. When Neil passed the whole day I listened to RUSH it was my kind of homage to him .
Although I loved Rush since the end of the 70's somehow I lost connection and never heard this song til now. Since yesterday this magnificent melody is playing non stop on repeat in my house! Rest easy beautiful soul!!!!!!!
Its simply one of the best compilations of music and lyrics that Neal, Alex & Geddy have ever done...... Looking back at the work they did in the 70's and early 80's... then they nail it again in the 90's....
One thing that's never failed to amaze me about rush is just how big their sound is, considering they're just three guys! It's a testament to their talent as musicians.
This song makes me sad.."Bravado" has always one of my favorites..but I get a bit emotional..as a part of their lyric is "if the music stops" and at the time, I thought..never! RUSH..best band ever..hopefully the "music will never stop"..and it has..my heart was broken when they "stopped"..retired..RUSH! We love and miss you..please, please come back..
This song has been my go to for many different situations. Sleepless nights, painful heartaches, broken dreams, lost loved ones, times of aggravation... Neil Peart knew exactly what he was doing when he grabbed his pen & notepad and prescribed the greatest medicine known to man...his masterful lyrics set to the soothing soul of RUSH. God bless you Doctor. RIP Neil
The revelation that life is more than just the here and now. That we are all moving towards that. Maybe a lot sooner than we realize. So we are aware of the sacrifice. And it does not scare us. Or maybe even if it does, we rise up to that fear. We announce to the darkness that we will not be diminished by the brevity of our lives.

My goodness why can't more people appreciate this band!!! Absolutely nothing else like it in the whole wide world. I love the extended jammin at the end of this song.
I took this song for granted as far as studio version on roll the bones . As a live song it is one of the best songs of all time. Capped off by the best instrumental ending ever
I am absolutely stunned. The combination of lyrics, so on time percussion, a forward singer who keeps the move on (try to play to bass and sing) singing and collaborating with a guitarist who has been given the task to put to music, for 40 years, anothers words. Try that.
I'm in sentimental mood. Doing Rush tunes that touch me more tha others. Shedding some thoughtful tears and remembering the tours I was fortunate to see. Best band ever Neil miss you bro RIP my brother
For as long as I can remember, I have been travelling all over the place to watch these masterful musicians perform live thanks to my wonderful dad raising me around such amazing, melodic, heartwarming, and kick ass music!! I am only 21 and I am proud to say I have been able and have had the privilege to see rush 27 times!! so many people in my generation of kids just don't understand the caliber of musicianship these three men play at. it simply just makes me sad!! All I can say is that I myself could never imagine a world where Rush never existed... They will live on until the end of time itself. the end of one of the most epic eras. Long live these fuckin guys man!! long live them!!
I'm a drummer who never made it big so these words always hit home...."and if the music stops....there's only the sound of the rain....all the hope and glory ...all the sacrifice in vain..." However, love did not remain. Bravado.
I’m completely bummed that I never got to see Rush live. Thank you Geddy and Alex for all the memories! God speed Drum God, you’re gone but not forgotten!
Michael, I wish could transport my memories to you (mind meld, lol) ... this video is enough, well, OK, maybe not, but there's lots of great LIVE video of THE BEST BAND EVER!!!! let me know if you need anything.
I'd say this is the best live version on youtube. The double vocals really cut through here, and the guitar tone is fatter than in London. Rio was great too, but this one just overall sounds sweeter!
In these grave times right now, Rush can make it better. One day they will be the biggest band on this planet. Music like this will only continue to bring in the masses. It used to be our own little cult band, but we are bringing them in now. Rush forever!
Definitely one of my favorite drummers, incredibly virtuous, will live forever in our memories through his music and the great legacy he left us in his percussions, rest in peace Neil Peart.
Excellent! Wherever this city was they played , this crowd can't hold a candle to the crowd they played to in Rio--at least for this song. Check out Bravado, Rush In Rio. Man, seems like everyone is waving their arms and singing along. Even on a You Tube video I could feel the excitement and electricity of that crowd.
Cool yes, have the DVD..people were so excited to see RUSH..so beautiful to see..they were chanting "RUSH" RUSH"..loved it..one lady was crying because she finally got to see RUSH. What a crowd at that concert..
That ending is one of the best things I've heard & seen - Doesn't matter who you are, that is a thing of beauty and tribulation. RIP to one of the best musicians to walk the earth! Thoughts go out to his incredible band mates and family!
Niel....i just wish you knew how much I admire your drumming..i tell everyone I know that you are best drummer in the world..i am in awe Of the talent...you are a blessing in this world...God Bless you and your family
It has always been about music and family with these guys on and off the road. The clarity and definition of their notes and feel......you can visually see it in each of them. Lifeson is one of the most underrated players in the world...or at least he used to be.
This is not just a song. This is the cure for the modern human mentality that is harmed by the pressure of life. Great respect to the great band, Rush. R.I.P., Neil. So sad that you've gone too fast. You'll be in my mind forever.
I am glad that you have decided to live forever.
@@hrahmani5738 He's the last immortal man. Must of found the honeydew!
I'm sad

This is the first song I came to when I heard Neil died. This is one of his best
I did the same Gary H. I was 14 yrs old in '91 when I got a call from a buddy and he played half of Roll The Bones on the phone for me during christmas break from jr. high. He said, "Pablo listen to what he's saying." We dug deep into lyrics trying to decipher their meanings.

Age is not prejudiced against taste 👌
Simply beautiful - one of those songs that makes you so glad this band exists on Earth
That Tele sounds so good.
Enjoy The Pass and Presto
👏👏👏👏👏🇧🇷
god this song can bring me to tears, lyrically and musically. Rush Forever.
I fully agree with this comment written in 9 years ago, in the aspect of tears, lyrically, and musically.
Tears from 2012 kills me every time....legends all!
I TOTALLY CONCUR 100 percent ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This song always tore me but never like today. R.I.P. Neil.
Agree 😪
Yes!! Cry cry cry
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Such a gorgeous and haunting melody, and such piercing, deep lyrics. Neil Peart 🔥💔💕💖😇
Tore is a good adjective here
Alex is and will always be in the top guitarist of all time. Nobody plays like him, and we will never see this again. Truly a gift from god!
One of these days I'll just give up and admit that this is not only my favorite Rush song, but my favorite song period.
Definitely my favourite Rush song, that's for sure
Along with Animate!!! Neil's fav song!!!!...these two songs is all I ever need
👏👏👏👏...my fav along with "Animate"!!!...Neil said that he thought Animate was their best song!!!!!bye bye Neil💪
I salute those that can narrow it down to one song. I cant. I've got it down to 11 to choose one from lol
Absolutely one of my favorites! I choose not to see Rush in terms of periods or, stages. They made amazing music throughout their career. Every stage has its peaks!

Gosh, I miss going to a Rush concert. 😞

Rest in peace Neil... you teach us everything how its like to play drums... sticks up high for you !
😪!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Masterfully executed, might be the best rendition of the song. The ending is spectacular. These guys are such professionals.
check out the Rush in Rio version. IMO it's better and the crowd is amazing.
One man bands, each of them...
Hearing this makes me happy to be one of the few people of my generation capable of enjoying such mastery. I'm 17 and proud to say that Rush are my gods.

So we’ll said, thank you for that.
Nothing compares. Love remains. Oh Neil. You saved my life Brother.
Front row (left) Shoreline back on the Roll The Bones tour. And Alex yelled *PLAY GUITAR* !! because I was playing "air bass" :D!! :D !!!
I 100% believe this. That's hilarious and sounds exactly like something goofy Alex would do. Thanks for sharing!
It's a great bass song as well. Every instrument in this song get it's due.
I was at that show 3rd row center, what was it May or June of 92
About ten years ago, I had to say goodbye to my step-dad, a truly fine and good man taken too soon from this life. The Professor,Neil Peart writing the lyrics, Geddy and Alex writing the music to one of the best Rush songs ever.
The sound of the rain doesn't stand a chance. RIP, Neil :(
These guys stir my emotions in why's I can't describe, I will miss them with a deep heartfelt pain. Maybe someday I will ride with the ghost rider. Thanks RUSH for so many years of amazing, incredible, just magnificent soul moving music. Forever rush, rush forever!
yeah, I can see that...so much so that you lose the ability to spell
One of my favorites! Thank You for playing. Underrated as always
I love the way Neil Peart plays the drums on this song. He keep the song interesting even when they repeat the same chords over and over.
Exactly! The drums are the true MVP of this song. They subtly keep an otherwise boring drum beat very interesting.
There is a reason why Peart is the most influential rock drummer of all time:)
Was one of his favorite songs to play.
*One of my favorite RUSH songs.....probably one of the "easier" songs Neil did. Smooth and not complicated. Thank you GOD for letting us watch this human being perfect his craft well over 40 years!*

This song helped me so much when I was in the hospital. Its a masterpiece.
Best Rush song ever - the lyrics are incredibly meaningful and most human beings can relate to them: "If we burn our wings

R.I.P Brother.....you were the soundtrack of my life! ❤️
This is my favorite version of my favorite song. Years ago, when it was at just a couple of thousand views, I would share it each time it hit a new 5k view milestone. I haven't been here in a while, and I'm happy to see it now has been loved by so many.
One of the most beautiful Songs ever.
This is one of my favorite 90’s Rush songs. Geddy still had his voice during this tour. I will miss these guys.
If we burn our wings flying too close to the sun
If the moment of glory is over before it's begun
If the dream is won though everything is lost
We will pay the price but we will not count the cost,
When the dust has cleared and victory denied
A summit too lofty, river a little too wide
If we keep our pride though paradise is lost
We will pay the price, but we will not count the cost
And if the music stops - there's only the sound of the rain
All the hope and glory, all the sacrifice in vain
And if love remains, though everything is lost
We will pay the price, but we will not count the cost
Man, really going through some shitty times right now and it sucks knowing these guys are done now. I'd give anything to just go to one more show...
TheCiscoKid2112 I miss them..doesn't get any better than RUSH..
My favorite song by my favorite band and their performance in this video is so freaking awesome. My favorite live performance of theirs too.
Bad ass guitar solo! Ged and Neil also sound amazing as usual! Rush rules!
One of the most uplifting songs ever composed from my favourite band in life! 🎸😌
Thank you so much Neil. The love definitely remains!
Rush are like a fine wine.
Duane Catton Extremely well put my Rush cohort....
Absolutly
Holy shit!!! How have I never seen/heard this version of the song before?! It's been a long time favourite of mine but all the extra guitar and bass work in this version just adds a whole other dimension to it. Simply amazing!
Yes, but all versions are Beautiful, one of my favorite songs by them!!

Happy Birthday, Geddy!
Although I loved Rush since the end of the 70's somehow I lost connection and never heard this song til now. Since yesterday this magnificent melody is playing non stop on repeat in my house! Rest easy beautiful soul!!!!!!!
The lyrics are very appropriate for this time in history. Awesome guitar solo.
Total metal head here, and yet, this is probably my favourite Rush song.
We will pay the price but we will not count the cost. So 2021… song has a new meaning today .
RIP Neil! God bless you! Thank you for all of your songs!!! You will always have a special place in my heart!!! Carry on!!
Something about this song always makes me sad, but I can relate to it. Simply put, it's beautiful!
this became the anthem of my life. I love the lyrics of neil peart, and of course i love the music the song of rush. One of my favourite of all time
Lee's voice better with time, RIP professor travel well.

Awesome music from Canada to the world and to the Milky Way.

Such a beautiful song. Will never tire of it...
So good to see Neil again.
Try that.
Geddy also plays his foot pedals and keys also on top of what you said. Ged kicks ass dammit, they all do!!
Dan Feeney A-fucking-men brother!!!!
Its like a they have 10 guys in the band...... then your like, WTF... 3 of them... are you kidding!!!
And also playing the organ/synthesizer using foot pedals, while singing and playing the bass.😁
Essa música é uma obra-prima do Rush
Thank you Neil for making my life so much better. RIP legend.
You hear all the time about songs that "just don't get old"...this song not only doesn't age, it just keeps getting better every time I hear it.
This is one of my favorite Rush songs, it makes me feel so happy and calm! I'm grateful for the existence of these men ❤️
Bravado, Mission, Ghost of a Chance are my always my first songs of the day
I'm in sentimental mood. Doing Rush tunes that touch me more tha others. Shedding some thoughtful tears and remembering the tours I was fortunate to see. Best band ever Neil miss you bro RIP my brother
Im doing the same thing now
For as long as I can remember, I have been travelling all over the place to watch these masterful musicians perform live thanks to my wonderful dad raising me around such amazing, melodic, heartwarming, and kick ass music!! Hands down one of the nest bands ever. No question, best drummer ever.
First I saw this version of this tremendous song....and the tears flow. Again. Nobody can deliver a song the way these 3 can. One of their best!!
I'm a drummer who never made it big so these words always hit home...."and if the music stops....there's only the sound of the rain....all the hope and glory ...all the sacrifice in vain..." However, love did not remain. Bravado.
I was there on September 24 in 2004 in francfort Festhalle
IT was simply great!!!
I’m completely bummed that I never got to see Rush live. Thank you Geddy and Alex for all the memories! God speed Drum God, you’re gone but not forgotten!

C’est tellement bon! Mon groupe no 1 à vie
I'd say this is the best live version on youtube. The double vocals really cut through here, and the guitar tone is fatter than in London. Rio was great too, but this one just overall sounds sweeter!
Thank you
This is One of the reasons I like RUSH music a lot😃
Se me hace un nudo en la garganta cada vez q escucho Este tema tantos lindos recuerdos me trae y me da mucha pena que no pueda volver el tiempo atras
I love this song! One of my very favorite Rush tunes among so many great ones!
It's so odd to see Alex playing a Telecaster, but damn it sounds great in his hands. The man is a master.
That guitar is THE GUITAR for this song.
I recently saw a video of him playing the Trees on a Tele!
I've never been a big Tele fan but it sound sweet here...one of Alex's best solos.
One of my favourite songs. Will always love Rush.
In these grave times right now, Rush can make it better. One day they will be the biggest band on this planet. Music like this will only continue to bring in the masses. It used to be our own little cult band, but we are bringing them in now. Rush forever!
¡Qué genios estos señores!
This is probably my favorite Rush song from their whole catalog. I love the music and the lyrics and Neil's excellent floor tom line is just the best.
Definitely one of my favorite drummers, incredibly virtuous, will live forever in our memories through his music and the great legacy he left us in his percussions, rest in peace Neil Peart.
one of the best of Rush. Love songs like this
Excellent!

Man, seems like everyone is waving their arms and singing along. Even on a You Tube video I could feel the excitement and electricity of that crowd.
I was on RIO show! You don´t even needs to jump, because the big crowd smashes round your body and lift you up on a big human sea! Unforgettable!

That ending is one of the best things I've heard & seen - Doesn't matter who you are, that is a thing of beauty and tribulation. RIP to one of the best musicians to walk the earth! Thoughts go out to his incredible band mates and family!
Favorite Rush song, wish they would have played it live at the shows I attended. Love this band!
Essa música é maravilhosa. Rush é foda!
isso e angelical nada se compara ao rush!!!!!!
yup probably my favorite. I love Alex's closing solo from 4:17 on; there is something sublime and magical about it.
Speechless, sheer brilliance!!
Niel....i just wish you knew how much I admire your drumming..i tell everyone I know that you are best drummer in the world..i am in awe Of the talent...you are a blessing in this world...God Bless you and your family
amazing rendition of this song, the final is simply beautiful, it made me repeat it about 10 times, long time ago no song had make do it..
Masterpiece...period.
Stunner of a song. This is true quality musicianship. Geddy Lee is one of the greatest bass players and frontmen in the music Bizz
