    Hi Jeff, great video. I sold my bike in 2021 to get myself together for my family so I haven't watched in a couple years, but I started training indoors again and got bored listening to music so I figured I'd check you out. The videos are excellent quality as always, the commentary is even better, and I'm happy to see you're getting endorsement deals too. Top notch quality, glad to see you're doing well and winning races!!

    the timing tho is inpacable just wow, at the end i was literally screaming "you need to go right now "
    but as you pointed out it was actually too early "another alviso in the bag" chef's kiss 🤣🤣

    • @ericvutran4140
      @ericvutran4140 Год назад

      Noob question ... why is it too early? What happens if you go too early?

    • @5speed735i
      @5speed735i Год назад +2

      @@ericvutran4140 I've never raced, but the way I understand racing is that if you start your sprint too early, two bad things can happen.
      One: You will most likely give another rider enough time to react then latch onto your back wheel, ride your draft , and pass you at the line. Waiting until very late eliminates their ability to see you and and react before the line comes up. It's an effective sneak attack method.
      Two: You may run out of power and slow down on an early, and therefore longer, sprint. Then before you cross the line, anybody that has reacted from your early sprint and is now drafting you, will come around you, pass and win the race.
      If you have super massive power, you might be able to start your sprint early, and go fast enough that nobody can ever catch your draft.
      However, if the racers are even in ability, good strategy always beats power. In fact, even when you have less power that the other racers, effective strategy can allow you to beat a more powerful rider.
      Keep watching NorCal, he's taught me every thing I know.🙂

    Some quick questions for you Jeff. Just before you start your sprint and you are pushing 600W what cadence are you at? Then, upon engaging your sprint, do you shift gears to achieve your ideal sprint cadence or simply ramp it up in your current gear? In this particular Alviso you had a two-part sprint. In between your first and second 8-second sprint, I'm assuming you shifted gears to once again find your idea sprinting cadence? Cheers.

    • @NorCalCycling
      @NorCalCycling  Год назад +5
