Really enjoyed those two videos Luke !. I am from Southampton originally and as a teenager enjoyed lots of time at Eastleigh Station !...Have lived up in the Midlands for many years now and your videos made me very nostalgic (although the traction has changed beyond recognition of course - apart from the Cromptons !!) Will look for more of your videos. Great work Sir !
Thanks very much Martin, really glad to bring you some nostalgia and glad you enjoyed it. Definitely one of my favourite 24 hour episodes so far down there. Hopefully get down again soon.
I remember doing silly things like that in the late 80's...... a Barnetby overnighter with 3 of us in a Ford Escort watching triple headed tractors on the iron ore coming through at silly hours in the morning. I'm far too old for that now so well done you for doing that stint.
Another excellent video Luke, great to see the 59’s and to catch the crompton’s before the 24hr deadline was amazing. Thanks again for all the trouble you go through to make these videos for us we really appreciate it.
Thanks for the amazing content this year! Sadly I didn't know about you being here and would have come down but thanks and im looking forward to finishing thus episode!
Cheers Andrew, tell me about it. We actually hit 4k whilst I was down there so time to start planning the next one! Up north for the next one I reckon.
A great video. lived in Eastleigh for just over 30years so this brought back some great and not so great memories. Glad you survived the weather. Wetherspoons just across the road from the station nice and handy.
Thanks a lot Brian, glad I could at least bring back some nostalgia. Wetherspoons was where I fell into for a breakfast after finishing the outro, mostly for the all you can drink coffee to get me ready for the trip straight back home!
Thanks for Part 2 Luke - excellent conclusion to this outing, especially with those 33s at the end! All the best to you and yours for 2024, and I look forward to the Diggle output in the months to come. Cheers from NZ, Martin.
Cheers Martin, first time I’ve ever seen a 33 on the mainline so was chuffed to include them at the end. Hope you’re enjoying a nice summer down there mate, all the best for the New Year.
Great stamina and endurance, well done Luke. Such a variety of locos and workings too. I spotted the deliberate mistake - caption for the black five at Shawford!
What a great video Luke . Doesn’t matter what time of day steamers look great and the 2 Cromptons were just the icing on the cake . Happy new year to you
Thanks a lot Les, that clip of the steamer was 3 or 4 minutes long of it chugging up through the dark which was fantastic but just a bit too long for the vid. All the best for the New Hear mate 👍🏻
Thanks a lot Howard, was very mild down there, didn’t need the wooly hat until the middle of the night really. Next one should be a good one, further North next time.
Terrific video. I started watching your channel when I noticed you were filming around the Standedge tunnel. I’ve visited the area around Marsden on a number of occasions. I think your presentation is really professional. Happy New year!
Thanks very much mate, the presentation is something I put a lot of effort into so glad it comes across. I’ll be sure to get down and do some more filming from Marsden. All the best for 2024!
You made the right call. Eastleigh is a special location. I would say come midweek in the summer for best results. Unusually Saturdays at Eastleigh can produce results upto around lunchtime. I think you should think about making this an annual event but in the summer. Still you got some great footage. Loved it.
Thanks a lot mate, glad you enjoyed it. I’ll definitely be making time to come down again regularly, was absolutely worth the journey. I’ll back down again soon for the Arlington visit so will do some more spotting then.
Another quality video! Great work all year round and keeping me up to speed with workings that i miss down the line at Stalybridge and Guide Bridge with working in the retail game. All the best for the new year pal! Craig 😉
Superb video. For years I have had a desire to stowaway on a freight train and see where it ends up. Hopping on to one of those empty container waggons.
I remember some 50 odd years ago spending days with my aunt down at Eastleigh. Train from Alton on the old line to Winchester and then Eastleigh. Happy days, still remember them.
another top vid Luke, we need to get together again in the new year! id be up for a few hours somewhere (we still need that Buxton area trip)..... happy new year pal, all the best to you and yours!!
A fantastic second half of Eastleigh with a great shot of the black 5 and Cromptons I see you managed to get to Dean on time happy new year to you I will see you in 2024 all the best my friend 😊👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍🚆🚅 Rory
Thanks a lot mate, a few of the shots taken up at Shawford with you in this one 😂👍🏻 Dean was great, just very very wet haha. All the best for the New Year Rory!
Nice early New Year’s Eve treat for us all Luke! Have a great one yourself and more crackin’ videos in 2024 and let’s hope it is drier for you too! I really love the bingo and 66 counter! Best wishes Andy 🍾🥂🎉
Just found your site, excellent. Wasnt there a Southampton Coatbridge Liner in one of your videos? Coatbridge is Glasgow. Could I ask what camera you use , the quality is stunning!
Thanks very much mate, I must have missed the Coatbridge liner! The Scot box does get ticked in a little while when I notice it haha. I use an iphone 15 believe it or not, I do however have a decent microphone setup and use a special camera app called Filmic Pro which gives a lot more control with quality, lighting, etc.
I haven’t mate but do want to try it. Think I should have probably done it instead of Stafford for the 24 hour special but didn’t know any better at the time.
Aw mate I know, gutted. It was one of the things I really wanted to catch but the test train that usually has 73’s ran the week before. Can’t complain really there was so much other good stuff. Hopefully next time 🤞

Haha good times mate and thanks! I’m thinking of doing a trip to Barnetby soon, not been for years.
Excellent video Luke, thanks for your efforts - Cromptons, what a surprise! Great! Happy New Year!
Thanks a lot mate, they were the main reason for choosing that week so really glad it worked out. All the best for the New Year.
Thoroughly enjoyed both parts Luke.
Thanks a lot as always mate, glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻
Another excellent video Luke, great to see the 59’s and to catch the crompton’s before the 24hr deadline was amazing. Thanks again for all the trouble you go through to make these videos for us we really appreciate it.

Thanks for the amazing content this year! Sadly I didn't know about you being here and would have come down but thanks and im looking forward to finishing thus episode!
Thanks a lot mate, was a great few days I’ll definitely be down again soon.
Another 24 hour complete. Well done. Won't be long before your next one with the way your subs are flying high 👍
Cheers Andrew, tell me about it. We actually hit 4k whilst I was down there so time to start planning the next one! Up north for the next one I reckon.
Barnetby maybe? Don't know about station lights though
Another great video thankyou for braving the cold and the hassle to bring us such great entertainment
Cheers Brian, always happy to suffer for you lot 😂 all the best.
Excellent video, thank you. Shame it was miserable weather at times and I hope it didn’t take you too long to recover.
Thanks Peter, it was a blessing in disguise having to start again to be honest as for most of the second attempt it was dry and fairly mild.
A great video. lived in Eastleigh for just over 30years so this brought back some great and not so great memories. Glad you survived the weather. Wetherspoons just across the road from the station nice and handy.

Thanks a lot Ian, bugger missed that one! Copied the text and icons from part 1 and forgot to change them around, well spotted.
Another good one. Thanks for putting in the effort.
Always my pleasure Alan, thanks a lot!
Thank you for these videos. Keep up the great work.
My pleasure Neil, thanks for the support mate 👍🏻
Well done Luke 👍🏻 I did all nighters back in the 70s when it was really busy lol 🤣

What a great effort with a brilliant end result. 24 hours at different locations is really interesting.
Thanks a lot mate, we’ll have another one coming up soon for 4000. A bit further north for the next one.
Loved this video, you have made me want to make more myself. Keep up the great work - James
Thanks a lot James, that’s great I’ll keep my eye out for yours 👍🏻
Excellent coverage Luke, thanks for going the distance....48hr next? ! (maybe not)

Thanks a lot Howard, was very mild down there, didn’t need the wooly hat until the middle of the night really. Next one should be a good one, further North next time.
It will stop raining the moment you leave for up north. Very good video, thankyou.
Haha you just know it! Thanks a lot mate, glad you enjoyed it.
Great video, funny how they sneak the odd ball stuff through at silly o'clock in the morning!
Cheers Colin, happens so often it’s usually just me and a couple of other nutters out to catch it haha
Terrific video. I started watching your channel when I noticed you were filming around the Standedge tunnel. I’ve visited the area around Marsden on a number of occasions. I think your presentation is really professional. Happy New year!

Me too mate, first time I’ve seen them out on the mainline 👍🏻
@@DiggleJunction I was working in hotels down that way in the early 80s when Cromptons and 73s were the regular fare
Superb video. For years I have had a desire to stowaway on a freight train and see where it ends up. Hopping on to one of those empty container waggons.
Thanks a lot mate, have a search for brave Dave’s big fat freight hop on here, he’s does that across the States and it’s so interesting.
Great video Luke wishing you and your family a great new year best wishes looking forward to your next diggle dairies
Thanks very much mate. All the best to you and yours for 2024. The next Diggle Diaries is another belter!

Thanks a lot mate, bet it’s amazing to live up there (despite the lack of freight lol).
I remember some 50 odd years ago spending days with my aunt down at Eastleigh. Train from Alton on the old line to Winchester and then Eastleigh. Happy days, still remember them.

All the best for new year pal and happy spotting. Was that a 69 passing behind 66554 as it left the station aftera crew change ?
Thanks a lot David, all the best to you and yours too. It was one of the Network Rail RHTT MPV’s if I remember correctly.
Great video Luke, ever tried Nuneaton?
I haven’t mate but do want to try it. Think I should have probably done it instead of Stafford for the 24 hour special but didn’t know any better at the time.
Very much a long shot but could you sometime try Loughborough or Leicester ? It’s very active during nights
Both are on my list as candidates mate, just need to find out if they can be stayed at overnight.
@@DiggleJunction Leicester is a 24 hour station and I do believe Loughborough is too as services are running to and after midnight
Damn no 73's
