Great selection Luke, thanks for sticking it out. It's quite a novelty to see the sparks fly with the third rail, doesn't clutter up the place as it does with all the overhead stuff! Do have a great Christmas, I trust you'll have bit of a relax and here's to a cracking 2024 for you and yours.
No need to apologize for something beyond your control Luke. We seem to be a fairly dedicated crew, we Digglers and I don't think you will be seeing volumes of subscribers rushing to leave over some imagined slight about train volumes. Have a good day tomorrow mate.
Wait till you hear it powering out up the hill in part 2 mate. The black 5 working very hard with the duff really pushing hard to help at the back too.
Cheers Bill, yeah wasn’t sure what to do at the time but think I made the right decision in the end. Hope you had a great Christmas pal and all the best for the New Year.
I have never come across your work prior to this viewing and I was just about to hit the 'pit' after watching Carlisle by L.G. when your name popped up on the next offerings menu. So I dived in and was pleasently surprised and thankyou very much. Cracking stuff!
Thank you for another awesome video Luke. Pity about the signal failure so well done in sticking it out for us. Hope you had a great Christmas and I wish you a very Happy New Year to you and yours
I've enjoyed your content for a while now. keep it up! Have a great Christmas, looking forward to your New Years Eve episode. I hope they let you stay on the station this time, I never could do over night spotting, I think you're all mad! Cheers Luke.
Brilliant video and I rate the bingo ahah! Also I think I speak for everyone we appreciate you showing what engines are on the train, their numbers and where they’re coming and going. Brilliant mate
Brilliant video Luke and well done for your 24hr shift!! When I worked for Network Rail managing the Eastleigh network services, we were able to turn directionally sensitive traffic by running them via Chandlers Ford to/from Westbury to correct any traffic that was the ‘wrong way round’.
Cracking one mate, always something going on down in the south. Merry Christmas and a happy new year mate. Inter city already have a good line up for 2024
Cheers mate, got more variety than I could ever have hoped for to be honest. Think I’ll be booking on a couple of trips for the new year. Hope you had a great Christmas pal.
Thanks for another great video - excellent technique, mostly with tripod I assume, and you let the trains do the moving not the camera. Makes for very good viewing. Look forward to part 2. Happy New Year to you and cheers from Martin down under in New Zealand.
Thanks very much Martin, yeah that’s a conscious effort to not pan too often. I use a mix of tripods and a monopod when I don’t want to take up too much room on a platform. All the best for the New Year mate 👍🏻
Thanks a lot mate, I think starting again was the right choice getting most of the next day dry but as you’ll see in Part 2 it didn’t last long! Have a great new year Les and hope you had a nice Christmas.
Things you do for your subscribers! Well done for 24 hours part one and looking forward to pt2. Love the bingo and shed count as ever and it would be nice to splash the wins each time a little more. It can be too subtle for me! Getting near to 4k is no surprise and roll on the celebration 24hr. Will it be Scotland next, in winter as I know how much the weather is part of it🤣 Merry Christmas Luke and family🎅👍
I’ll see what I can do for the next one mate, good idea! Plans already afoot for the 4k one, think I could probably pick anywhere and get terrible weather. Merry Christmas Andy, hope you had a good one.
you're a better man than me.....long waits between trains sometimes...not fun when it's raining too. You go boy......Good place for seeing a lot of railway infrastructure and trains. Thanks.MP
Thanks mate, at least those lulls gave me chance to get some grub or a drink. Stafford was a lot harder not having any time to leave the station for a break.
Absolutely great stuff, sorry about the signal failure, but you still got a great variety of Loco’s. It’s worth knowing, exiting the Station, turn right and right over the bridge, and there is a superb, food and craft beer bar, called Steamtown, which brews its own plus guest beers. And of course you have Spoons Opposite.
Cheers John, it more than made up for it in the end. I got a breakfast in spoons after finishing, did mean to visit steamtown, I saw it on google maps but just didn’t have the time to get over there in the end. Next time!
You need to find something less arduous for these subscriber milestones however entertaining they may be. 24 hours on a UK station in winter is nuts - the equivalent of climbing the North face of the Eiger!
very ambitious for a 3k subscriber "special" but well done for trying this I should wait till 10K subscribers for your next big one maybe Rugby as a good spot for lots of freight
Cheers mate, I do them every 1000 subs and we’ve got to 4 since so will have another coming up soon. Not been to Rugby for a few years, need to go back soon it would be great for a special.
😅I am new to the channel. A former resident of Southampton and now living in Suffolk. I actually have a press cutting of the first electric test train through Eastleigh back in the day.
I did 12 hours overnight at Crewe back in about 1987/88 and despite there being almost every class of loco there - 08s, 20s, 31s, 37s, 47s, (no 50s that far north though!), the very occasional 56 or 58 and even one of the few 25s or 45s that were still around, 81s, 85s, 86s and 87s, plus DMUs, EMUs, all kinds of freight wagons, tanks and a lot of mail vans all through the night - after 8 hours or so it was becoming a bit of a challenge to stay i. awake and ii. interested in whatever was about, but I couldn't leave as a I went up there by car with a few mates and two of them, including the driver, had buggered off somewhere else so I had to wait for him to return - this was way before mobile phones, obviously! Anyway, if I was currently wearing a hat, I'd take it off to you for managing 24 hours somewhere, especially these days. At least the 66s come in a variety of colours to keep things mildly interesting! 😀
Thanks a lot mate, it does get tough to stay enthusiastic getting close to that 24 hour mark to be honest. True about the 66’s, we’ll take what we can get when it comes to sheds haha. Bet Crewe was fantastic back in the day, it was still great when I was a kid in the mid to late 90’s!
Fantastic video it's got it all 37s 69s & 47s and the black 5 can't wait for part 2 all the best my friend have a great Christmas and New year 😊👏👏👏👏👏👏👍☃️🌲🚆🚅 Rory
Not too far off yeah, I did go to bed for a sleep after cancelling the first try though so only 24 straight. Haha at least a few red crossings out on 796 😂
It’s a tenuous one tbh Mark, the tour finished a couple of stops up but with the halt for coal etc is a part of the trains tour. With the bingo being just a bit of fun I’ll class it as close enough.

Another corker of a 24H special ! These things happen I guess but you must have been knackered after getting up for being ready by 7 so not even a full night sleep beforehand! When did the issues become resolved and had you persevered overnight would you have got much?? Should have changed the Bingo sheet “Tesco Container” to “ONE Container” 🤣👍🏻
Thanks a lot Roy. They seemed to sort out in the early hours but there was so many delays I’d say only half or so of the trains ended up actually running so didn’t miss too much. I’d have got it really quick with a pink container haha.
Another Cracking video, pity about the signal failure, but that's the railway for you, anything can happen. I have liked this video & subscribed earlier after watching another video of yours. I was going to suggest for your 4k subscribers 24hrs as Stafford, but i see you've allready done that one lol. Look forward to PT 2 of Eastleigh. Happy New Year.
Haha great minds think alike mate, hope you enjoy the Stafford vid if you give it a watch. We’ll be going further up north for 4K if the plan comes together 👍🏻 have a great new year pal.
I spent five years working as a secondman at Eastleigh. Watching this video brings back so many memories of the location. Thank you.
Glad I could bring you some nostalgia Tony, thanks for the comment 👍
Great selection Luke, thanks for sticking it out. It's quite a novelty to see the sparks fly with the third rail, doesn't clutter up the place as it does with all the overhead stuff! Do have a great Christmas, I trust you'll have bit of a relax and here's to a cracking 2024 for you and yours.

Nice puff-puff choo-choo steamer with duff in tow 🥰
Wait till you hear it powering out up the hill in part 2 mate. The black 5 working very hard with the duff really pushing hard to help at the back too.
Perfect viewing for Christmas Day, thank you 😀
Thanks a lot mate, hope you enjoyed it 👍🏻
Thanks for another great one Luke, sorry the signal failure spoilt your day - you did look disappointed. Happy Christmas.

That DVD is mine this time! hahahahaha good work on part 1 buddy :)

Brave man to attempt a 24 hour marathon. Great video, well done 🤓
Thanks a lot mate, glad you enjoyed it. Makes the effort worthwhile 👍🏻
Brilliant video, thankyou. It never rains in Eastleigh.
Haha just my luck! Thanks a lot mate.
As usual Brilliant video keep it up merry Christmas.
Cheers Kevin, hope you had a great Christmas.
very good duncan
Thanks mate
Quality...You should make this an annual event. I would defy anyone who says Eastleigh cant produce the goods. Great stuff, now onto part 2... cheers.
Thanks again mate, would like to make it down at least every 6 months 👍🏻
Well done Luke interesting as usual, merry Christmas and a great new year, thank you.
Thanks very much Sheila, have a lovely Christmas and New Year.

Another great production Luke. Might I suggest that if you ever need a theme tune, Crowded House's "Weather with you" might just work. :)
