    Quick note on Silver - if you talk to Elm after beating Silver in Mt Moon in HGSS, he mentions that Silver came by to try and return the starter he stole, but Elm could tell the starter loved him so let him keep it. We can assume the same thing happened with his Weavile, so TECHNICALLY they became retroactive gifts.

    • @justinkennedy8
      @justinkennedy8 11 months ago +427

      @louiscorreia8152 if she's made the final gym leader, the battle would be competitive. And I think she just wants more frequent fights, when the player character first meets her, she mentions that most trainers won't battle her anymore. Make her a gym leader and they'd have no choice.

      @josephbiddle1637 11 months ago +195

      @justinkennedy8 Not to mention, the game starts out with her leaving her own Pokemon in the Box and taking a brand new starter (since she never got one at the start of her own journey) just to be on equal standing with the player. Even taking the disadvantageous starter, if I remember right. So she would absolutely be happy to take a few team nerfs just to battle fairly.

    • @justinkennedy8
      @justinkennedy8 11 months ago +127

      @josephbiddle1637 absolutely! Nemona is a trainer who loves battling passionately over winning. The chance to battle Trainers as a key member in their progression to champion would be her dream come true!

    This is kinda late, but I would've made Sina and Dexio a double leader gym, similar to Tate and Liza. Since you want to increase the notoriety of your region and increase tourism, this would be a good idea. You could promote it as a special dual type gym, promote the leaders as a "couple" working together, and have a diverse idea no other region has. Trainer's will want to come to face against a dual type gym to become stronger. You could also use it as a training point with Denra to showcase double battle and partner cooperative team building. This would allow you to have both Sophocles and Ryuki as your final gym leaders at the end.

    • @covertIC
      @covertIC 5 months ago +9

      so sina and dexio would have a psychic/ice gym, and ryuki and sophocles could run a dragon/sandstorm team like raihan

    • @wyattmorey3279
      @wyattmorey3279 5 months ago +7

      @covertIC Also also, Denra is the fighting girl from S/V right? Mikey wanted her to be the headmaster of the training academy so..., in the training example with Sina and Dexio, it could be a lesson in the curriculum for the students to showcase adaptability in the fight because Denra has a type advantage over Sina but a disadvantage against Dexio

    • @covertIC
      @covertIC 5 months ago +4

      @wyattmorey3279 it would also be cool if Sina had snow warning on her lead. That way dendra could showcase how the weather can change a battle as well

      @wyattmorey3279 5 months ago +3

    14:21 You know how you get Mallow to come to your region? Invest in her family opening a new branch of their restaurant in your region! She can run this new branch and spread the family name around the world! Heck, combine the restaurant with the gym like Larry did in Paldea, and she wouldn't have to go anywhere to be the Gym leader!

    • @edwiniseman4
      @edwiniseman4 11 months ago +64

      This was my initial thought, too, but she would need to expand within Alola successfully before branching to other regions, which could take a while. Also, Mike is broke... Realistically, he couldn't afford to pay for all the teainers, gyms, AND an restaurant franchise all in the same year. Mallow would have to wait, sadly.

    • @ablthomas37
      @ablthomas37 11 months ago +28

      I don't think they would need to expand in Alola first. Top chefs having more then one restaurant around the world is not uncommon. Plus It is hard to compete with other restaurants when you are all serving the same kind of food, so she might get a leg up simply by serving Alolan food which is not common in this new region. There is definitely risk but depending on how well her restaurant has been doing since we last saw her it could be worth it

    I dunno, I think Hau being a gym leader would kinda make sense. Hau has been raised around the job of kahuna his entire life, I wouldn't be surprised if he already knew all the traditions and responsibilities that are associated with kahuna and has even been helping do them for years, but the main thing he's missing is life experience. And Hala always struck me as the kind of person to encourage Hau to visit other regions to grow and get more life experience before settling down and taking over such a large responsibility; besides Hala is a spry old goat, I'm sure he has another 5 to 10 good years left in him as kahuna before Hau even needs to think about taking over

    My leaders would be (in order):
    1 - Kiawe as fire. Mikey made a good argument for him, and I'm still an Alola baby.
    2 - Klara as poison. I feel like she'd be better now.
    3 & 4 would be Dexio and Sina as Psychic and Ice. They'd be great.
    5 - Riley as a fighting leader. I'm a bit surprised Mikey didn't consider the Stat trainers, and Riley just feels right to me.
    6 - Barry as normal. I love that maniac.
    7 - Wally as fairy. Here me out here - he goes back to Gardevoir, and gets a Mawile.
    8 - Brock as a Rock specialist. The OG return, replaces Onix with actually good rock types like Tyranitar and Coalossal, evolves his Geodude all the way, and gets a fossil and a Stonejurner for lols, and he's good. I know that existing gym leaders were meant to be off the table, but I don't care, I need him.

      By the standards of the pokemon world, the range of 12 to 15 seems to be the "Legal age".
      I mean, Brock in the anime is AT LEAST 15, and he seems to be the youngest to qualify as an adult.
      I'm not sure how old is Iris, but when we met her, she's at least around 11 or 12 in the anime.
      and from the time we left her to meeting her in journeys, she became the gym leader of Opelucid to Regional Champion.
      so my safe bet is 12 to 15.

    I really loved this fully fledged, lore-based analysis on the potential candidates. I like your final choices, but at the same time I can see a few "minor" problems:
    - Dendra is a teacher at the Paldean Academy, which means she already has a job. Would she really move out and change her job even if she's still a young adult?
    - I think Sina and Dexio are great as a couple. That said, them being separated Gym Leaders would mean they'd run two different Gyms, and so each Gym would be built in two different places. They'd be apart from each other most of the time, even if both locations were nearby. I know there have been similar situations, for instance Norman running the Petalburg Gym and him actually living in Littleroot Village with his family, but even he is implied(?) to have so much work as a Gym Leader he can't return home as often as he'd want. I'd either have Sina as the Ice-Type Gym Leader and Dexio moving in with her and doing research, while Wally steps up as the Psychic-Type specialist (he'd really be a great inspiration for new trainers); or have Sina and Dexio as a couple of Leaders of the same Gym (same dynamic as Tate and Liza), maintaining Sina's type speciality, while still keeping Wally as I said
    I got too invested in this explanation XDDD

  • @TheWDerp
    @TheWDerp 11 months ago +439

    I want a second part of this video that includes:
    - Pokémon that every Gym Leader would use.
    - What TM would they give you?
    - If this Region is Open World, then what is the consistent Ace Pokémon through all the badges (Like Sophocles uses the Vikavolt line either you have 1 badge [Grubbin] or 8 Badges [Vikavolt])
    - How do they fight based on difficulty? (How many potions do they use? Do they use other items like full heals? Do they put items like Sitrus berries on their aces? If this game has Hard Mode, what changes do they make in EVs and held items?)
    I know it's a lot, but as someone that usually listens to the video while working it would be an amazing long video while I clean carpets :3

      To add some spice, the Gym Type shouldn't be Pokemon Type, but Move Types. So the Fire Gym, isn't all Fire Types; instead, all the Pokemon inside can use Fire Type moves. So there's a chance you'll fight the Gym Leader with Gogoat, Donphan, Ursaring, Zebstrika, and Torkoal, and they all have Flame Charge.

      @ryanwood9313 10 months ago +22

      @riolufistofmightshe would be bringing the battling culture with her and with her in the league that battle culture might take a more competitive role

    • @williamjones5334
      @williamjones5334 10 months ago +25

      I'd add, she's willing to do so especially if it means she's helping cultivate that person's own talent, allowing them to later challenge her at her full strength. Gym leader is absolutely a job which fits that description!

    • @gamester512
      @gamester512 8 months ago

      @williamjones5334 Maybe her status as a Gym Leader is actually kept "secret" to some degree (like if all challengers who reach her are expected/told/asked to keep her status as the final Gym Leader a secret, and one of the biggest draws to the Gym Challenge is the "mystery" of who the final Gym Leader actually is), and the region uses a system akin to the Gym Challenge in Galar where it's started more or less at the same time, and Nemona shows up to challenge those trying to beat the Gyms with a progressively stronger team (but a team that is never stronger than the next Gym each challenger is set to face) over time in order to try and keep pushing them to improve. And during that time the challengers just think she's a nice person helping them to improve....even if she is a bit of a "battle freak". But then when they reach the final Gym, who is waiting for them but _Nemona_ with her _real_ team, ready to give the challenger(s) who reach her their hardest battle yet. She'd even have the tendency to praise and encourage a challenger when they pull off a successful move or stumble a bit respectively, which could make battling her both challenging and rewarding as Nemona would actively _want_ her challengers to get the better of her, but she also wouldn't be the sort to hold back when acting as a Gym Leader.
      To me the only possibly hiccup with having Nemona as a Gym Leader would be determining her type specialty, as her final team is a very well-balanced one in terms of types, and her "ace" is either Meowscarada, Quaquaval, or Skeledirge depending on what starter the player in Gen 9 chose. Since there's already a Fire Gym Leader, that would remove Fire from contention so no Skeledirge. But then you still have to pick between Meoscarada or Quaquaval. But from there, if Raihan is not part of the Elite Four and thus Siebold fills that slot, that would mean Nemona would be a Grass specialist and would have Meowscarada since Quaquaval would result in a Water type overlap with Siebold. If Raihan _is_ part of the Elite Four however that would allow either Meowscarada or Quaquaval....but I'd still guess that Meowscarada would fit best in this case as it would remove the risk of a type overlap with the Elite Four....and it might even fit best with it's "masquerade" theme possibly referencing Nemona acting as a sort of "stealth mentor" for the challengers, and then once they reach her Gym the "mask" comes off and she reveals her status as the final Gym Leader?
      Sure, the "secret" would probably get out eventually, but for at least a year or two it would allow the mystery of who the final Gym Leader is to entice people to challenge the gyms even if only for the sake of solving that "mystery".

  • @Smasher0404
    @Smasher0404 11 months ago +44

    Having not watched past 1:16, my picks would be:
    Riley - Explicitly considered for being a Gym Leader in Sinnoh, is willing to travel, explicitly trains a wide variety of Pokemon
    Klara/Avery - Kind of cheating because they are technically Gym Leaders (in the Minor leagues in Galar) but it'd probably be a promotion for them to be main League challenge Gym Leaders.
    Eusine - An expert on Legendary Beasts, he'd probably be able to pick out interesting folklore to base his gym around. Has traveled across an entire region (so probably not tied to a specific place)
    Primo (AKA PokeDude) - Experience with media (formerly having a TV Show), has powerful pokemon (having at least trained a Rhydon and Machamp). Has explicitly moved regions at least once. Enjoys teaching beginners

    I had another thought... The region's professor. And I think the best choice would be N, who focuses on growing the bonds and understanding between people and pokemon. Plus, he can talk to Pokemon, and would be able to get the Pokemon's input if it wants to go with a trainer if picked. Yes, there's that whole history with Plasma, but I kinda see it like a Gladion and Aether situation because Ghetsis picked him up as a little kid and N legitimately wanted what is best for Pokemon. Good intentions, baaaaad home life.
    Also, it would totally prompt the joke of "In [Region], Pokemon chooses you!"

    About Barry, I think he should be a Water gym leader. He has an Empoleon (in the anime and in Masters) and a Floatzel, plus Crasher Wake is his idol. Nanu isn't exactly Acerola's uncle. She just likes to call him that because he's like an uncle to her

    7:32 I think something they could work is that when trainers come to Gladion’s gym, they could get a choice: take on his team without Silvally, or take on Silvally EXCLUSIVELY. That way trainers who want a standard experience can get it, while those who want to test their mettle against a legendary can have that as well.

    • @Pineapply_Queen
      @Pineapply_Queen 11 months ago +8

      I feel like that's still a bit lopsided; granted I haven't played Sun and Moon in ages so maybe I'm underestimating Silvally, but depending on where Gladion is in the lineup, it might still be an easy win just from the numbers advantage.

    • @094Ghost
      @094Ghost 11 months ago +6

      Silvally has 95 in every stat, so if he is the first 5 gym leaders, it could work, but he'd probably get demolished if he's any gym after that. A way this idea could work is if he replaces one of his pokemon from his 'casual' team for Silvally, or add it into his party, making a team of 5/6 (depending on how many pokemon he had before).

    • @wintonnguyen
      @wintonnguyen 11 months ago +5

      Two ways to make this work for higher up gym battles:
      Creating an actual hard mode for people who want a challenge which would have Gladion use Silvally as a 7th Pokémon, much like Volo with his Giratina.
      Take a page out of legends Arceus and create a “legend RKS disc” which would have Silvally change types on the fly so it can stand up against a full fledged team.

    Given Raihan’s Team and strategies, I’d make the suggestion of telling him to sticking with his sandstorm team but pivot marketing wise to a ground type and/or lean into the multiple types unified by one strategy. This solves the typing issue and likely helps marketing wise as Raihan would no longer compete for attention with the gigantic amount of dragon trainers (at least 9 others, 2 of which being champions at one point) instead only competing with the few ground trainers (Giovanni who is no longer a leader, Bertha, Clay & Rika).
    Also I’m incredibly biased as ground is my favourite type

    You can go crazy with the Gyms because of so many options, so in order:
    1)Bianca, Dexio, & Sina as the Lab Gym, Bianca can be the region's Professor with assistants. Make it the Triple Starter Gym like Unova.
    2) Ilima, the Normal Club Gym. The Gym is in the region's College, where Bill's younger sister got a full scholarship to learn about the PC system so she can make her own version. The PC system starts out crude for the Player, but it gets better throughout the game as she learns to improve.
    3) Koichi & Kio, the Double Fighting Dojo Gym. Instead of HMs, they teach the Player to Chop, Crush, Lift, & Climb after they get 4th, 5th, 6th, & 7th Gym badges.
    4) Miriam, the Fitness Gym at a Stadium. She is in charge of making Stat Boosting consumable items and Man Made consumables for the region. The Player can learn how to make their own if they bring the necessary materials.
    5) Saguaro, the Health Gym in a Hospital. He is in charge of making Poke Blocks, Poffins, Berry Juices, Lava Cookies, etc for the reason. He teaches the Player if they bring the needed ingredients.
    6) Poke Ranger MCs from the Poke Ranger Series for the Ranger Gym in the New Ranger Tower HQ. They use Eevees & Native Pokemon that will be counters to whatever Party Pokemon you bring into the gym. We need Poke Rangers to make sure that we don't affect the ecosystem of the region too much as we start to bring more people in & so we don't have to have every Pokemon in the game.
    7) Gladion, the Wild Dark Gym with Silvally. Just before the BBEG , he tells the Player that doing things that others wouldn't expect you to do is normal and necessary in life. You can add Piers as the Trainer before Gladion, who's here to help the newest Dark Gym Leader to the world & add him to the Band.
    8) Silver for the Redemption Gym, mixed teams like Blue but all teams are competitive.
    "Anyone can change for the better."
    The Gym is filled with Vice Leaders from Magma, Aqua, Galactic, Colress, and Faba. The Gym is a prison that's used to hold criminals & Villain Team Members that are defeated through the game. The Player can help them get jobs but using the prize money to improve the facility & rehabilitate those inside

      He only ever used one fairy type while his ace consistently stayed a psychic type. The psychic type even pivoted away from a fairy type in the remakes, so he deffo doesn't seem to care about fairy types.

    25:55 Honestly, having them run a double battle gym would be really neat. Especially since them using 2 types would make it a completely unique challenge.
    That would also free up a space for 1 more gym leader, too.

    So I've been thinking about it and I came up with perfect idea for my gym leaders and Elite Four. I'll write them here as I edited the E4, but they are writed under the E4 video, so I will only listen the changes here). Firstly the Gym Leaders:
    1) Silver the Poison Specialist (who came to this region to explore it and find a calm place to live). His aces would be both Crobat and Gengar as those are the two pokemons he used quite often.
    2) Bianca the Psychic Specialist (she came for reaserch for professor Juniper, but decided to open her own lab and do her own research as there was something that picked her interest in this region). Her ace would be her Musharna which she uses very often (and In Masters they are Sync Pair). Additionally as she is a researcher she could use Sigilyph and Zen Mode Darmanitan as they both come from the ruins
    3) Kiawe the Fire Specialist (reasons were brought up in this video). His ace would be Alolan Marowak plus he would use Turtonator and Charizard as in anime he used them really often.
    4) Colress the Steel Specialist (he came to this region as he heard the offer to make a living here and do his research). His ace would be Klinklang (I thought about Magnezone but in Masters he is in sync pair with Klinklang)
    5) Marley the Flying Leader (she was a tourist but decided to stay and help people learn about the importance of pokemon's stats). Her ace would be Aerodactyl and she will also use fast flying pokemons like Ninjask and Swellow
    6) Courtney the Ground Specialist (After the team Magma fall she decided to travel to this region and begin a new life). Her ace would be her Camerupt as she uses it everywhere.
    7) Alexa the Dragon Specialist (she is a journalist that introduced Ash to Kalos if you don't know and I had to do an overlap with the E4 so I chose the minimal drastic one, which is her. She would show Dragon as really menacing type that is hard to control). Her ace would be her Noivern from anime.
    8) The big Change I moved Brycen to be a Ice Specialist (instead of an E4 member). His team would be unchanged compared to his E4 team)
    And the big E4 change I moved N into the E4 and he would come to this region to finally live in peace, far away from anyone he knows. He would be Dark (as his Zoroark) and Grass (as nature) specialist and his Ace would be Zoroark. He would also use someone like Umbreon and Leafeon as they are really friendly from nature)

    Replacing Sophocles electric type theme with rocks/magnetism theme also works due due to how closely tied magnetic waves and electric waves are, andjust the general overlap of electromagnetism in physics.

    I would have also taken the stat trainers from Sinnoh into account - Cheryl, Buck, Riley, Marley and Mira.
    All of them make it to the battle tower and participate (experience), they all join up with the player (teamwork) for double battles and adventure (even if only temporarily), all have been shown to have well levelled teams of 5 pokemon at once, with much longer lists for other battle modes (including minor legendaries like the birds and golems in some cases) for that talent and drive.
    Granted, they focus on pokemon biased towards a certain stat, so there's much more type variety on their known pokemon. Unless you did a Blue style gym, you could still narrow it down to some degree or just do (stat) themed teams rather than typed teams!

    Dexio and Sina can easily work as a double battle gym. Keeps them together, adds a fun challenge to their gym, and you have another gym open to bring in someone else. You could even have it really interesting and have their gym be dual-typing of Psychic and Ice

    For me I'd choose:
    Black 2 "rival" as fighting type gym leader, reflecting his fight for justice and freedom
    Ethan as baby pokemon gym leader who has surprisingly strong pokemon with each having everstones, his pokemon reflecting his love and kindness towards his maril and his support he gives the player character when you play as the female trainer.
    Team magma Courtney as a ground type pokemon, hers is self explanatory
    Green or yellow from the manga as either a lightning type or water type respectively (or both??? Or both individually!?!?!)
    Blue's sister as a gymleader basing on type advantages like the first gym in black, her pokemon would be the elemental eeveelutions (leafeon, glaceon, jolteon, flareon, and vaporeon, and a regular eevee) they would reflect her choice to join oak in his studies and becoming a pokemon expert
    Mr briney as a water flying type, with a lapras. His is also self explanatory but you'd have to get to a boat on the edge of the map by either a mount or by using surf.
    One of the policemen from soulsilver with dark type and fire type pokemon, like growlithe or umbreon, growlithe being a police dog, and unbreon using its glowing rings as a searchlight. Their gym would take place in a city fighting the second generation of team rocket called team starclipper. And the gym trainers would be rookie police officers

    Have you thought about non-elemental type specific gyms? In the custom region I'm building the Gym Leaders don't focus on elemental types, instead focusing on concepts or animal types (dog trainer, monkey trainer, party types, etc). This makes trainers think outside the box, and can have some fun interactions.

    Love this type of video with an in-universe approach, they're really creative and fun. Mikey going into a "shipper" mode about Sina and Dexio made me laugh... Especially because the whole traveling to Alola together thing was also what Blue and Red did in Gen 7 - it's a valid take for them too though, let's be real. 😂
    Still, the BIGGEST thing that caught my attention in this whole video was Grunty Boi's new shirt... Interesting! I'm sure it makes sense in general if, uh... If Grunty Boi doesn't rock a copyright-related shirt when he stops by - and maybe that was part of this particular sponsorship! But it's just interesting and neat see that kind of thing as the channel continues to grow... Especially if it means maybe some Grunty Boi-related merch in the future? Maybe? (I mean, I also think that with the serial numbers filed off, there is such potential for the MandJTVverse as a book or comic or something, and ngl I'd love to see it, but lol idk if Mikey has any interest or even if it's feasible... A guy can dream tho!)

    10:19 I personally think of it as similar to a Japanese high school(it could, in theory, be a middle school, just based on classroom names and the year system, but the characters seem like they could be in 10th/11th grade(and Kieran is apparently a teenager in either 7th or 10th grade,I feel 10th makes more sense)), so it would work. Additionally(assuming that this is based off of the japanese education system), I believe middle school would be the end of compulsory education, so there may not be issues with extracting him from within high school.
