Great engines. Great memories growing up around Severn Tunnel Junction. Still have a special place in my heart the Class 37's.

This is totally amazing!! They evening shots as well really outstanding. Class 37s are my favourite loco. I really don't care one bit for these American built locos, much prefer British built locos and rolling stock.

In the 1970's 37407 was 37305 Cardiff Based, Often in Margam Swansea area & always on Triple Head Iron Ore trains (Margam-Llanwern), 37419 was 37291 Cardiff Canton Based, 37422 was 37266 always found at Stratford TMD London, 37425 was Cardiff Canton Based 37292, & 37716 was Split head-code model (now removed boxes) 37094 always based in the Yorkshire area Tinsley - Immingham - Thornaby - Gateshead, so prior to the ETH Fitted at Crewe Works all these 5 have been heavily worked. This was a great photo shoot of these Classic 37 still one of the best reliable Loco's on the rails today & each over 50 Years Old. Well Done Guys, Great to see these still going strong.

Thankyou very much and interesting read too :) 305 is one i see mentioned on social media a lot.... was she one of the harder Canton 37/3's to cop? i only saw her first as 407 in large logo but always a strong fave of mine, plenty of power and never dissapointed on the coast, heres hoping 2024 brings some good news for these venerable old ladies

The return of the TPE class 68s to DRS likely means the end of the 37s after 60 year lives. Hopefully preservation beckons for several as they are in good condition.

DRS bought the 37s from eastfield traction depot springburn Glasgow and fully refurbished them I was a fireman with BR working out of eastfield 1974 so drove many class 37s but with a twist of fate my older brother ended up a driver with DRS so he actually drove the same 37s that I drove at Carlisle DRS yard some 30 odd years later
