This is totally amazing!! They evening shots as well really outstanding. Class 37s are my favourite loco. I really don't care one bit for these American built locos, much prefer British built locos and rolling stock.

In the 1970's 37407 was 37305 Cardiff Based, Often in Margam Swansea area & always on Triple Head Iron Ore trains (Margam-Llanwern), 37419 was 37291 Cardiff Canton Based, 37422 was 37266 always found at Stratford TMD London, 37425 was Cardiff Canton Based 37292, & 37716 was Split head-code model (now removed boxes) 37094 always based in the Yorkshire area Tinsley - Immingham - Thornaby - Gateshead, so prior to the ETH Fitted at Crewe Works all these 5 have been heavily worked. This was a great photo shoot of these Classic 37 still one of the best reliable Loco's on the rails today & each over 50 Years Old. Well Done Guys, Great to see these still going strong.
Thankyou very much and interesting read too :) 305 is one i see mentioned on social media a lot.... was she one of the harder Canton 37/3's to cop? i only saw her first as 407 in large logo but always a strong fave of mine, plenty of power and never dissapointed on the coast, heres hoping 2024 brings some good news for these venerable old ladies
They suited I/C Mainline & INTERCITY well didn't they think 37's wear most colours very well barring that horrible wcrc maroon i just can't take to them in that barring when its full sun
@@gavin37688 the Scottish ones ie 401 430 and 431 with white numbers on black background under the cab window better than the black numbers on white background at the bottom of the paint work.
Thankyou Nick aye she was a mucky pup when we put her in for jet washing, by far the longest one to get clean! The black just kept on running from the grills.... don't think her grills have ever been cleaned in years or it seemed that way scrubbing them for hours
The return of the TPE class 68s to DRS likely means the end of the 37s after 60 year lives. Hopefully preservation beckons for several as they are in good condition.
DRS bought the 37s from eastfield traction depot springburn Glasgow and fully refurbished them I was a fireman with BR working out of eastfield 1974 so drove many class 37s but with a twist of fate my older brother ended up a driver with DRS so he actually drove the same 37s that I drove at Carlisle DRS yard some 30 odd years later

@@justinobrien3593 Colas are standing down there pool of 37's in 2024 from test trains, units and 43's will replace them i'm told by my Derby R.T.C friend unfortunately, the first tender list has gone too LSL, Europhoenix and Andania Engineering.. no interest in 37424 so she was pulled from the list an will no dought go back on it in the new year with the others / the ones that don't work.... i can see DRS keeping 407 422 425 & possibly 716 if they feel fixing her is worth it which i dought very much judging by the the new manager attitude

Wat a beautiful salute to the 37's that was chief :) i don't mind doing night shots well we don't have much choice here 37's only come after darkness falls... but i much prefer the sunset than any night shot taken on that day :) wish i'd got more before darkness fell but i was still in the bonnet of 37716 trying get some more of that yrs ground grained in brown off her window frames lol + been soaking wet slowed my movements right down.... think most of us went home that night looking like we'd been swimming was worth the soaking thou especially as gleaming 37422 & 37425 are out 2moz shining away on a RDT train from Bescot but the weather forecast is bad unfortunately.... and thankyou for your uploads buddy really enjoy watching your sets and chosen location's keep them coming 🙂 and all the best

@@DiggleJunction Outstanding fela i'll catch up on your superb channel later, been watching your mega moves Eastleigh Adventure before my tea, gota finish it off shortly :) and yes everyone seems to be saying its because thats were the others sold on the tender list are located thus these ones been stored there should also go up for sale shortly in 2024 aswell! the planned booked 37 move today didn't happen to Bescot unsure if you knew but no one signs them really anymore at DRS Gresty Bridge thus they used alternative traction i presume, doesn't spell happy days or anymore moves with these ex Ork 37''s i'd guess now unless they give some drivers a refresher course on them?
I drove the class 37s when I was a fireman out of eastfield traction depot springburn Glasgow 1974 when eastfield depot shut down they sold a lot of surplus class 37s and class 20s to DRS at Carlisle my older brother as a driver with DRS and he ended up driving the class 37s from my old depot eastfield some 30 odd years later plus my uncle was a mainline driver with BR at eastfield depot so my brother drove the 37s that I and my uncle had driven strange world
Its stopped for now but expect RA5 Loco's of one form or other next September 2024 as booked :) this video was recorded the day after the final RHTT 3J51 ran

That sunset shot is amazing, and so apt given they're in the sunset of their careers with DRS. How did you find out about the event? Is there some sort of underground mailing list that I'm not on? I seem to miss half of these things, at the very least!

So, please excuse my ignorance with this question.Was the photo shoot organised purely by you guys to commemorate the end of these particular loco's being on loan and an opportunity to view , record them all prior to them being returned to the home location?
It was a private none public strictly limited to chosen people only photoshoot chap, due to the location and been an active depot it couldn't be advertised and was hard to arrange but was pulled off and executed perfectly by our Director friend and the DRS Management.... i was just there to clean them spruce the old girls up and do my bit so i was there from early doors till the end of the photoshoot anyways :) it was a good send off for them and i can say they've not been this clean since they were overhauled at Loram atleast, hope that helps bud

@gavin37688 on careful view it was 266...at first I just saw a brown blurry smear lol. I have a vitrains 422 in ews. In my opinion the only privatised livery that is half decent and doesn't look like it was "designed " by someone who hasn't a clue !!!
