I just discovered your channel and really love it! Re Plotulopi, I purchased some on a recent trip. I made Elizabeth Smith’s Alanis slip over holding the yarn single…,so happy with it!
I buy straight from Iceland. Save money then buy a lot at one time it’s so much cheaper that way. What you think won’t be warm is going to be warm this is awesome stuff. If it breaks overlap the 2 ends together and rub it’s back together again. Adding new colors take the end of the new color and the end of the old color rub together now they are joined as one, this is awesome stuff.
I am knitting a cardigan with this. The Needle size is said to be a US 7 but do a few swatches with a 5 and you might be convinced to use it like me. Its very strong once you knit it but you need to apply no tension. Hard to explain but so easy to knit with! You just let it flow thru your hand as you knit...no finger wrapping will help as you then wont have the breaks you might experience. Double stranded it will be a great way to make a bulkier sweater.
Sorry if I missed you say a 5 but didn't hear that size on your video. That is the ideal needle for single strand Plotulopi to get a nice closed up stitch that looks perfect and I think you might enjoy. To get a bulky sweater, I recommend using 3 strands of this. My cardigan will have the body done in two days and then I am onto the sleeves. My entire cardigan is single Plotulopi and I have measured..its perfectly the inches I am going for. I am a fiber artist who has spun Icelandic raw fleeces into yarn, after picking, carding and use my antique spinning wheel to process it into My own yarn. I wanted to try the sweater kit for fun but don't need to buy yarn. I have bins of my own yarn and a great understanding of this fiber from right off an Icelandic sheep. Its as amazing as you say! Light and warm but my own handspun is much softer for some reason then the Plotulopi I bought from Iceland and I make mine thicker. I wove mine into rugs for my daughters.
I ordered my yarn directly from Iceland....way cheaper and buy what you want the first time and the postage added will still be cheaper then buying from where you live.
@@mistakkesweremade Nothing extra was charged on my order but shipping and I got it air mail in less then a week. I live in the US though so this may be very different for you to get where you are. My total cost per plate of Plotulopi was $5.53 US per each after total cost figuring. My kit was only $23, my husbands was $26 but we paid $36 for shipping. My kit came with 7 plates with 300 meters per each and his came with 8 plates with 300 meters each. There was no royalty added. Any cost was built into their pricing I guess and shipping was flat cost. I don't know if that is helpful. If you look up The Icelandic Store website name you can see their info. I hope it works for you as its a great price for this product!
Honestly this is probably the most useful guide for me re Plotulopi I’ve ever seen online ever. Cheers!
Wow, thanks. Glad it helped!

What is the sweater you’re wearing? It’s awesome!
It's a fingering weight version of Isabell Kraemer's Aldous!
Gosh now I need to go back to Iceland to back another 2.5 kilos of plotlupi....I want to knit more sweaters with a single strand...
Totally share this feeling. If you insta, can I see the ones you already made?? #mwmshowmeyours
